Monorails to no longer operate during Evening Extra Magic Hours

Disney's doing something that might discourage you from leaving your last dollar in the parks on your way out???

The monorail must REALLY be on its last leg!

This , within itself, should REALLY make them reconsider this stupidity of the monorail limitations.

Epcot will bring guests back to the TTC until 10/10:30 depending on the regular close time- not to the MK specifically. From the TTC the guests will have other options aside from the monorail (assuming it is all ready closed down) to get across the lagoon to go to MK (if it is open for a special event or EMH). If the resort monorail line is still running the Poly/Gf/Cont/TTC - it will stop at all the stops.

I just checked and that would happen on 9 of 30 September 2011 nights-not good.

And 16 of 31 in October.

I guess BLT/CR are the MK winners, and POLY is the EPCOT winner since you can walk back from TTC-may see a lot of walking from POLY to GF as well.

Are there really people out there who are so monorail crazy that they just will not use a boat instead? I mean, I love the monorail too, but if it isn't working I won't boycott the park, or let it change what I want to do. I'd have no problem just catching a boat instead. No biggie.

Are you actually concerned about that exact scenario, or are you hyperbolizing? Could I ask if you've ever been sent away from an attraction line after waiting and waiting and waiting because bam, park closing time came?
If not, why would you think that would happen with a monorail wait?

Obviously I was giving a hypothetical example, seeing as how the monorail just switched hours yesterday, according to the report, and I wasn't at Epcot yesterday. My example was given in sarcasm.

Sarcasm aside, I think it *might* be a very probably scenario. If it stops running one hour after park closing, then it stops running, yes? At what time do they say "last call, no more passengers"?

Sure I've been sent away from attractions because they said the park was closed. Again, I'm not sure what your point is since that's a very different scenario...rides versus transportation. Regardless, I think it's a stupid move on Disney's part and that's my honest opinion. People will most likely leave the parks earlier if they have to use alternate transportation now, at least I would anyway.

Unless they begin running the buses from Epcot sooner than 10 in which case I would take the bus from Epcot to GF...not sure if the buses are starting before 10 or not.

I really think they will bring in the larger boats for transport back to the resorts - that just seems to make sense....but oh well we know that doesn't always work out!

Nope. A bus directly to GF (well, Poly and GF) from Epcot. No need to transfer at the TTC.

That wouldn't make any sense. It would make more sense to have dedicated TTC buses and then dedicated Monorail loop buses.

We have a 2-night stay booked at the Poly for October and it will probably be our last stay at a so-called "monorail resort".

I am simply not going to pay $400 a night and not be able to use the monorail after EMH or have to rush out of the park after Illuminations to catch it.

Sorry Disney that's one cutback too many for my taste... We'll save a couple hundred bucks a night and stay at a mod instead. If we're gonna have to take buses at night anyway, what's the point?!

Boats aren't pleasant, late night...except in the summer. They are brutal when it's cold outside. And, YES.. it DOES get cold in Orlando.

I may have missed a reference to this article, as I scanned through today's posts. If it's not been posted yet, I did find it interesting. Glad to see the use of the word indefinitely and not permanently.

As for the passion part. Well, that is easy. People love them their monorail!

I think it's illogical that I should be upset about losing a service I never used anyway.

But I admit that I am upset about it, moreso than when other things (which I used) were cut.

I think you're right, that many of us consider the monorail untouchable, which is something that's hard to measure when you're making decisions based on an income statement or spreadsheet.

I agree. The monorail is iconic. I expect it to always be there for me, whether I need it or not--like a parent.

However, if Disney explains to me that it's simply for maintenance, I can get behind that, even if the change lasts for a year or so. Sometimes parents need a vacation (or a little maintenance) now and then, too. Based on the news coming out now, I think it's all going to be okay.
