Monorails to no longer operate during Evening Extra Magic Hours

I'm not too sure it will have that much of an effect. Anyone who is not staying at anyone of the Monorail resorts will have to catch a bus regardless. The only people this is going to hit at people staying at the monorail hotels that are not eating at their home hotel.

We have dined at Monorail resorts and taken the monorail back to EPCOT for Illuminations-then walked to our room at BCV/BWV many times.

You should still be able to do this.

I see what your saying in regard to my bus comment though.

You should still be able to do this.

Depends on when you go. If it's during a hard ticketed party, we still don't have confirmation that the MK loop of the monorail will be running after 8 PM (1 hour after the 7 PM close of the MK). If they leave the monorail resort after 8, that would be a problem.

Exactly my point, thanks.

Sorry katieelder this is more than a small inconvience. Many many people stay at the monorail resorts for the monorail convience.Disney advertises this all the time!I wonder if they will put this in there new ads,oh by the way were shutting the monrails down early to save money, and yes we raised our room rates again this year too, sorry! I also will stick by my primo bucks statement too.Have you looked at the rates at the poly or gf or contemp lately? I consider rack rates that are over 400 a night with taxes very high(primo). With those kind of rates I would blame no one for being upset that they are shutting down the monorails early!

This is your opinion, regarding this issue...not fact.
Oh. Well, yes, it is my opinion. There's a great deal of opinion - vs fact - in this thread. I do try to base my opinion on observation.

Is it your the recession hasn't enabled people to understand cutbacks or small inconveniences?

First, I was addressing your specific statement in which it was apparent you were referring to Victoria & Albert's. It's the only monorai restaurant that has the mandatory dress code you described. V&A has two seatings. Each seating fits 75 diners maximum.

On average, there would not be enough BLT/CR/Poly guests dining there at either seating to justify operating the monorail at 10:30 on a regular-hours night (for example). If you think about it, how much sense does it make to rrun one monorail train, having it stop at each location about every twenty minutes, and have only zero to ten passengers aboard?

Walt Disney World hasn't raised their resort rates again. They've announce the rates for next year which are, sure, higher. They released the 2012 package prices, too. That happens every year. In every business. Most businesses do it multiple times - been to the gas station lately?

And again, they're not shutting down the monorails early. They're 'just' not keeping them open late.

They are most certainly are, shutting the monorail, done early. The parks will be open for hours, after the trains, are in bed. This was thought out very poory.

Or worse. To get from the Poly to the GF, I'd have to go from the Poly (in the opposite direction of where I want to go) to the TTC, only to then have to backtrack to the GF?

And to go from the GF to the Poly I would have to board a bus that goes past the Poly to get to the TTC, and then board a second bus to backtrack to get to the Poly?

Oh my gosh, this can't be right!

You mean to say Disney's best solution for transportation of guests who have paid the most $$$ to stay at WDW is something which includes a TRANSFER. Heckle and Jeckle - they can almost SPIT to the Poly and Grand Floridian from the MK. Now just imagine dealing with a scooter (my default because I'm stuck in a scooter) or a stroller.....late....you are tired.....you have paid for a monorail hotel for the convenience and you are told you will be home shortly.......but don't forget to transfer at TTC.

My DH is from NYC and we call it......"going New York".

Big Al at Country Bear's has it right.......

There was blooooooouuuud on the sadle......"and bloooooouud all around.........and a great .... big ...... puddle of........bloooouuud on the ground..near the TTC.

LMAO!!! Good thing I wasn't drinking anything, I'd have spit it all over my computer screen...

You really do have a way to spin EVERYTHING to be positive don't you?

I have a question....before all this......didn't the monorail run late no matter what? I mean did it always shut down one hour after park regualr hours and then one hour after EMH hours when those were scheduled? For some reason, I remember the Monorail just always being available. But I have had some people telling me no, it always shut down an hours after park closing before. Am I crazy?:confused3

3 Monorail routes.
a. MK Express Monorail
b. Epcot Monorail
c. Resort Monorail

3 separate schedules.

I see that continuing even after the new limited hours are fully in effect.

We just don't know yet how long the Resort Monorail will continue to run at night.

Did something change? I though they were pretty explicit the new hours affected the Resort monorail early on...but there is no way I'm rereading this thread to find out... :)

I'm sure someone has said this before, so forgive me if I'm repeating this, but I think it comes down to this for the fate of EMH: does Disney turn a profit from them, or atleast break even? If not, then the fate of EMH is doomed.

I don't honestly think Disney is losing any money. They still have most of the eating/drinking areas open so their making tons of money there. Gift shops are open longer so their also making money thier. Once it's about an hour to close you start to see the maintenance people start to come out and get ready to clean up for the night. I'm sure even when the park is closed the rides are still left on and the lights around the park are left on. I don't know though? Any thoughts?

From now on, with every welcome packet when you check in at a monorail resort, you will be issued a pair of running shoes. Don't worry though. They will spray them between guests, just like at the bowling alley! :thumbsup2

Seriously though, why wouldn't they just have a series of buses circling the monorail area stopping at each stop so people could get on and off as needed?

They should just have buses running from the MK to Poly and GF. And then have some golf carts transporting guests to the Contemporary and BLT. Guests staying at Poly and GF still have the boat transportation. If they really wanted too they could use the buses running to the Wilderness Lodge to make a stop at the Contemporary (like a combined bus stop, WL/Contemporary.)

The words MK monorail were being used and some believed that meant the Express monorail only. I believe when they used the term MK monorail it was inclusive of the Resort and Express lines. I don't believe they have said anything differently to change that.

Why would they continue to operate the Epcot trains until 10 PM if they shut down the Resort run at 8PM?

The bus Transfer option discussion is only regarding inter MK resort hopping when the MonoRail stops operating 1 hour after park closing.

MK to the GF and Poly are direct buses & boats during the aforementioned time.

Why would they continue to operate the Epcot trains until 10 PM off they shut down the Resort run at 8PM?

Not sure why that would matter. They need to operate the Epcot monorail to get guests back to the TTC since some people will have parked there. Probably not a lot, but they do just so they can take the monorail.

AND, we don't know if there will be some sort of GF-Poly-TTC-CR shuttle yet.
