IF we park our car in MK, spend the day in MK, and then take the monorail from MK to Epcot and stay for the 9:00 fireworks in Epcot, will we be able to take the monorail back to MK that late?

It depends on how late MK is open that night. If MK has one of its early close nights the monorail runs for several hours past park closing.

we are going in a week. MK closes at 7:00 the night that we are going.

Hours for Epcot Monorail

7:30am until one and a half hours after either MAGIC KINGDOM or Epcot closes, whichever closes last.

Last night we went to MK. MK closed at 11 and Epcot at 9. The sign on the MK monorail said closes at 12:00, the sign on the Epcot monorail said closes at 12:30. Not sure what happens if the closing is earlier at MK than Epcot.

Sure you will be able to get back to the TTC (MK).

Even if the MK is already closed, Disney still needs to provide transportation for WDW guest staying the the PR, GF, and CR to return from Epcot....not to mention other WDW guest staying at other resorts who want to visit these resorts at night for dining, etc. Just realize they don't run all night though, typically only 60-90 minutes after parks close, so you need to move with a purpose and not get caught up with some other activity.

There will also be buses taking people back to the PR by bus too, which is right next to the TTC. I didn't mention a bus back to the TTC, since I have no knowledge of this bus line option.

I don't think the monorail will be your problem. You'll be able to get back to the TTC. The problem will be what time the parking lot closes.
