Monorail Trick?

Hey All,

We leave for the MK and DCL next week for 10 days. One of our friends told us there is a better "trick" to getting the front seat in the monorail than simply asking. He said it had to do with a bench, then winked. He refuses to tell me, saying I'd ruin it for those who know. So is there a special bench?
:confused3

I'm not sure about any bench? :confused3
We just asked if we could ride up front and as long as no one else was waiting we were allowed.

I think there is one at the Cont...

but you best bid is to ask at Epcot monrail on the way to TTC. for some reason the MK monrail gets a lot of request. the Epcot one can go back to TTC empty at times.

I think the best view is on the Epcot monrail going to Epcot at night - have your camera ready.....

On our last trip we did the Express twice both to and from the TTC.

Then when we were up front on the Resort monorail at the TTC was a family waiting you could tell the little girls ( 5 & 7 from the looks of things)were not happy to see someone sitting up front so they got pulled into the next car by their father.

I asked the pilot and he said he heard the father say this is the 3rd and last one we're just going. As this was our 2nd time up front so far we asked the driver if we could switch with them and he took us out the other side as the doors weren't closed yet. The looks on their faces was worth every monment and I think the MOM was afraid to ride up front because the look on her face was not that good.

IME, there is a bench at most stations where front car riders can sit after they've been "approved" to ride in the front car, especially if there is already another party waiting to ride in the front car. I don't remember a bench at each station, and unless it's a very, very well-kept secret, I don't think there's any trick related to the bench.

There was a purple bench at the TTC. Not sure if it is still there.

Thanks all! I called my friend & asked if he meant that the purple bench meant we were approved for the front - sounding like I knew all the time.

He said, "Yes! So you already know the worst kept secret..."

Heh heh heh. I'll race you all to the (purple) bench in the monorail stations!

Did your friend watch the WDW Behind the Scenes show that was on Travel Channel yet again last week? Because they have a segment about the "secret" bench...

Not sure what's so secret to some people about riding in the front of the monorail. I've been doing it since 1982!

Also, if the front is already spoken for, and you have the time, just ask/tell the platform CM that you would like to wait for the next monorail and ride that one.

Racing for the bench at any of the stations isn't going to get you in the car. You have to ask. You might be told to go sit on the bench, but racing for it won't work.

I just hope that "tricking" yourself into the front car doesn't mean people like the 5 and 7 year old mentioned above, keep losing their turn. I personally would feel much better asking and getting permission. Just my opinion though.

Relax...

I would never take away the magic from a child! It was a feeble attempt at humor (my 9 & 7 year old don't think I'm funny either).
