Monorail stops.......

the monorail that is from the TTC makes one stop--Mk

The resort monorail--MK--GF--poly--CR

epcot monorail---mk/epcot

It stops at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Magic Kindgom, Contemporary, TTC then starts over. It only really passes "through" the Contemporary, but it stops at the Poly and GF right at the hotel, which is just as convenient. You can get the monorail at the TTC going to Epcot, but it's a seperate monorail than the resort one, and it is direct to Epcot, no stops.

Wow I never knew there were different monorails...... :teacher: Since were arriving late the first day (around 4:00/5:00), we were thinking of riding the monorail and getting off and looking at other resorts and maybe eating at one. Would you recommend this? :listen: Also what does TTC stand for? :confused3

Transportation and Ticket Center
Or is it Ticket and Transportation Center?
;)

Browsing and eating atthe resorts is fine (and enjoyable). You may also want to go to Down Town Disney to eat and shop in addition or instead.

LOL! I thought I knew, until you asked! Now I have to look it up....
It's the first one, according an official resort map. But you knew that!

I thought the resorts order was MK-CR-TTC-Poly-GF...

Also to get to Epcot from MK, you take the resorts monorail to the TTC, then you transfer to the Epcot monorail. It's 2 different trains.

Unless I've lost my remaining brain cells, that's how I remember it to be anyway.

I think that it also goes MK-CR-TTC-POLY-GF :Pinkbounc

Okay, now I'm really confused! We'll be staying at the CR. If the resort monorail only passes through, which do we get on? Also, someone said that to get to EPCOT from the MK, you'd hop on the resort monorail to get to the TTC. Doesn't the express monorail take you right to the TTC? I know it'll be clear once we get there, but my family looks to me to know everything about WDW, and I don't want them giving me the rolled eyes looks!

At the CR you take the MK Monorail to the TTC. When you get to the TTC you will get off and you have to take a ramp down and around which will take you to the epcot monorail which will take you right to the front of the park!

Thanks, Tigger113! We're having dinner at Ohana our first night, so from the CR, can we hop on the resort monorail to the Poly? (I swear I'll figure this out eventually!) :flower:

Yes.
The monorail circles the seven seas lagoon and it's actually two tracks.
The clockwise circle is the local. Leaving from the TTC it stops at the Poly, then the GF, the MK entrance, the CR and back to the TTC.
The counter-clockwise track is the express and stops at the MK only.

Thanks everyone for the info! My husband and kids haven't been on the monorail (i did about 25 years ago). We have been to Disney has a family only twice and both times stayed off the park and never used the monorail.......this time were staying in the park and hope to ride it a couple of times! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

Thanks, PanamaMike! I usually hop on the resort monorail from the TTC, because there are very few people boarding there on their way to the MK, but I wonder if I save any time, since it makes so many stops. I'm sure I heard that tip here on these boards! I wonder how many other people do this?

Riding the monorails is a great thing to do when you arrive! You will get familiar with the layout and learn the travel times. Besides, riding the monorails is almost like riding a ride in the parks. It is very fun to ride to each resort stop and explore each one/or eat there. We love to do this on our first day before going into the parks. It's just neat to cruise by MK and EPCOT in anticipation for our first "real" day at the parks.

So what do you do if you are going to from a resort and trying to get to the Contemporary? What is the best way to go? OR if you are trying to get from Epcot to a resort (like Contemporary or Polynesian for dinner?)

Thanks,
Lesley

Not exactly sure if it is the best way but I think you'd want to go to MK and get on the Monorail from there (or walk) to the CR.

Good grief, folks, RELAX!!!
The monorail system is about as uncomplicated as it gets.
There are 3 routes.
a. TTC / MK
b. TTC / Epcot
c. TTC / Poly / GF / MK / CR

So you see what is COMMON to all 3 routes is TTC.
You can get to and from any of the "monorail resorts" and MK and Epcot by making a transfer (if necessary) at TTC.
TTC also offers free bus service to and from DAK and Dis/MGM Studios so you can get to any WDW Theme Park from TTC.

Yes, you can just walk up and ride ANY monorail at ANY time they are operating with no worries (unless its just very crowded, as in opening and CLOSING peak times of MK or Epcot) then be prepared to crowd-in and stand up for the brief ride.

Yes, monorails run VERY frequently: every couple minutes during peak times, and within 6-8 minutes even during "slow" afternoon times.

You should have no trouble riding a monorail and exiting at the proper place.
There are very complete pre-recorded spiels that constantly remind you of which stops are coming and what to do to find your way to any of the parks from TTC.

I think the wording confused you. The resort monorail does stop at the CR.
