We're thinking about riding the resort monorail after having dinner at Chef Mickey's. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the monorail to make a complete circuit?

Also, am I correct that we do not need to use our PHP since we will not be entering any park?

Thank all!

It probably takes no longer than 5-6 minutes to do the complete circuit. Supposedly to ride the Disney transportation, you need to have your resort key card or php, but I've never seen anyone asking for it.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping. I'm not sure how much longer my little ones will be able to stay awake after dinner. It's going to be a long day for them, but I really wanted them to get a good look at MK before we visit in the AM.

I was wondering about that too. Planning on staying at Pop for our trip and was hoping to maybe make PS at Chef Mickey's and take a monorail ride the first day there since we aren't going to the parks. That would get us in the Disney spirit I think! I was thinking we could take the bus over to DTD. How would I do that? Take a bus from Pop to TTC and then get on the Monorail for CR for dinner? Then back on monorail to TTC for a bus to DTD? That even sounds confusing to me writing it. :p

As long as MK is open, you don't have to go to DTD (unless you want to). Take the bus from PC to MK. Walk or take the RESORT monorail to the CR (1st stop). Have dinner. Take the monorail back to the MK (4th stop).

Don't go to the TTC. There are no busses you need to take from there.

It probably takes no longer than 5-6 minutes to do the complete circuit.

Actually, it will take the better part of 20 minutes to do the circuit since the monorail has to stop 5 times to unload/load passengers.

I think 5-6 minutes is too optimistic for the round trip.

A couple of months ago we were staying at the Poly and the kids had two different events at the Grand Floridian. I took one over and got him settled then got back on the resort monorail to go back to the Poly to meet up with the rest of the bunch. It took me a good 20-30 minutes. I know that sounds long but it is the truth. We seemed to sit quite a bit at each stop as well as make a couple of holding stops. This was a Thursday morning in July.

I believe my trip was longer than usual but just be aware that can be the case.

I have to agree with the 20 minutes to make a loop on the resort monorail. Some of those stops can take a while.
