We already have reservations for our September trip however I am thinking that I may be able to upgrade to a deluxe for the first time.

I like the monorail and wondered what would be a good choice. We have a 5 yr old child.

Would this be a waste of money? The boys like taking the boat to DTD when we stay at POR or OKW.

If not a waste, what resort do you recommend?

I would say any of the 3 would be good! I love the monorail too.

But it all depends on what you want. I would go & check out All Ears & each of the resorts.

Personally I love the Poly.

And you can also take the boat from the resorts to the MK.

We're staying (after MANY changes!) at the Poly. We'll have our 4 and 6 yo boys with us so we're very excited. Had the opprotunity to save $650 with CR but DH said the pool and theming wasn't worth it at CR in his opinion.

All of them are wonderful, but with boys I would recommend the Poly. The pool is really cool there and the theming is great!

The Poly is our favorite!! :goodvibes

We have stayed at the Contemporary twice and the Polynesian a few times as well (we have never done GF--it just doesn't do anything for us--it's "not us"). We prefer the Poly over the Contemporary in a heartbeat.

I am just looking at pricing now for the poly. We have been there to eat and have walked around a bit. I don't know if it is worth it to upgrade. If we do this seems like a wonderful choice. I like the landscape and lushness of the resort.

Can you walk to the park in the morning? How is the pool? How are the rooms?

I agree that the GF doesn't do much for us either.

It "looks" like you can walk from the Poly to the MK, but I don't think you really can. I have never tried it... You can walk from the Contemporary to the MK though.

The Pool at the Poly is a "Volcano" pool, it's small, but fun. I'm not sure about the pool at the CR.

The rooms a large at the Poly, the only down thing I can think of about them is that the sink area and the shower are all in one "room", so several people getting ready can get bunched up.

We have not stayed at the Contemporary yet, and we really liked the GF, but the Poly is still our favorite and even more so with children.

Our kids loved the Volcano pool at the Poly. You cannot walk to the park, but you won't need to because you can hop right on the monorail. You can walk to the Monorail Station as well to catch the monorail to Epcot if you want to take a short walk. There is also a boat to the Magic Kingdom from the Poly. Like I said earlier, we prefer the Poly over the Contemporary. We haven't been at the Poly since 2004 when our oldest son graduated high school. And the price is part of it...with two boys in college (the oldest graduates in two weeks but will be attending another college for his Masters) we just can't justify the cost anymore.

Our family loves the poly. The pool is wonderful and my youngest dd absolutely loves the slide. The rooms are very good sized. You can see the fireworks and parade from the beach and there are many resturants to choose from. Not to mention you have the convience of the monorail! Which for us is a huge thing. All the deluxes are beautiful....for us the fav is this one! :)

Maybe a compromise would be to stay at WL. It is still a MK resort and if your boys enjoy the boat rides, there is a boat to MK from WL. We are staying here in August and it sounds wonderful, and much les $$ than monorail resorts.:thumbsup2

I would say the Poly and, IMO, well worth the money :goodvibes. The grounds are beautiful with tiki torches lit at night, you can watch the fireworks from the beach/pool, great restaurants, and the monorail can't be beat for convenience

I just took a look and got the sting! Wow, it is $200 more per nite then our nice room at POR. I will just have to think about it. We already have a room and I have the cash to pay for the everything. Now, do I want to spend another $1200 to be on the monorail? I just don't know. But we do have plenty of time to think about it and see what the summer brings.

The difference in just rooms was staggering from POFQ to Poly. I went from WL to POFQ to AKL to Poly. I am justifying the extra b/c of how much easier it'll make my trip with my young boys but that doesn't make it sting any less!

Wow!! $200 a day really is a hugh difference. If you are worried about transportation, you could always use a bit of the $200 for cabs, or even a car and still come out way ahead. We are staying deluxe (WL/BC) in Aug, but only because we were lucky enough to get 40% code, thereby making just alittle more than a moderate, but $200 a lot more. Remember you will have a great time where ever you stay, it will just come down to your budget and what you will be comfortable with spending.

Good luck deciding and have a great trip!!:flower3:

With a 5 year old the best Monorail Resort would be the Contemporary because they are the 1st stop when leaving the Magic Kingdom and when going to Epcot, it's a quick Monorail ride to the TTC and an easy walk over to the Epcot Monorail. Plus since they share bus service with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, they are the 1st Resort where guests are picked up and dropped off at. Finally they are the only Monorail Resort with a walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom.

I just wish that their pool wasn't so "unfun" looking! That is what my DH is totally turned off by, their pool. That is why he's choosing Poly over Contemporary, the pool at the Poly seems more "age appropriate" for younger kids. The CR pool isn't zero entry is it? Are there lot of conventions at the CR?

We have plenty of time to upgrade. I am going to pay off the bill in full and then see if I can save up the difference. If I can we upgrade, if not, it is still going to be a lovely time at WDW regardless of where we stay.

Thanks for all the different aspects and things to consider.
