Monorail Rehab?

Sorry to be late to this party, but can someone bring me up to speed on what they are doing to the monorail system? And, more importantly, how long is the work projected to be going on? My next trip is early December, keeping my fingers crossed it won't be an issue by then.

The monorail control system is being upgraded. It involves work both on the trains and on the beams, where new cables and electronics have been installed.

When it's complete, train operation will be mostly automated. As with most automated transit systems, an operator will still be in the cab to oversee the train operation and handle unusual situations.

The upgrade is expected to enhance safety, allow trains to operate more frequently, and reduce downtime during switching operations.

No end date has been announced. Earlier this year, Disney said the operating schedule would be reduced at least thru the "end of summer."

We last visited in February, 2014. Are they finished updating the monorail system? We're heading back again this February.

We're more than an entire season past "end of summer" - so most likely yes.

Work is continuing on the trains, but it is not affecting the schedule. Full service is in effect.
