Is this accurate?
I've never stepped foot in Chef Mickey's or Contemporary, but I will be doing so in November. Last May, I took my then-5-year-old son on a monorail ride, and I could have sworn that when we rode through Contemporary that when we looked out the left-side windows (facing forward) we saw Chef Mickey's BELOW us and to the left. I distinctly remember it being down a floor, like we were looking at it from above. Am I wrong here???
Yes, Eric, you're correct. When you sit in Chef Mickey's, the monorail swooshes through, over your head. If you arrive via the monorail, you have to take either an elevator or an escalator down one floor.
Now, as far as how to get there from MK. If you have a 5:00 seating, I would plan on leaving about 45 minutes to get there. When we do it we leave 30 minutes but I've done it mulitiple times and know exactly where to go. So...exit MK, to get to the monorail, head to the right, up the ramp. Wait in line for the next monorail. Board it, ride for about 4 minutes, hop off at CR, go down a floor, head to the right, and there you are..Chef Mickey's.
Or, you can walk via the pathway...leave MK, head to the left, follow the path underneath the monorail line, along the far left side...cross at the lights, and you're there. About an 8 minute walk. Take the escalator up 2 levels (2 sets of escalators) and there you are. Or take the elevators.
If you want your birthday boy to sit in the front of the monorail on the trip to CR, get there even sooner. There will be others already waiting for this chance, so you will have to wait in line.
