In what could very well be my LAST show of faith in the management at WDW...i would be utterly shocked if they were not to upgrade/ replace the existing monorail system.
And that's only because they have all the facilities in place...even if a massive electrical upgrade is required.
The other Elephant in the room is that they are mere days away from announcing the Grand Floridain DVC that everybody already knows about...and i would assume that a future polynesian block is an near certainty...which means they would have about 2500 rooms and what i would assume would be upwards of 750 villa units on the resort line - and i don't think that even they would dare take the monorails away from them.
So while they will increase their prices 20%, gripe repeatedly about it, and probably put it on their promotional DVD as "new" for 8 years...they will undoubtedly upgrade and continue the monorail service.
Since i'm all upbeat...here's what i want:
I don't want a station at animal kingdom, and all star, and outside of the world of disney, and at MGM...
It would be nice if they would bother to shell out the bucks to link the existing lines to Wilderness Lodge/ Fort Wilderness and an "EPCOT resort station" that services Yacht/Beach/Swan/Dolphin/Boardwalk.
It would involve rerouting two of the the 3 lines and possibly adding a couple of trains in service...but it would make the monorail system much more useful to on-property travelers.
never happen though...
