I am not crazy! I just heard on NBC Nightly News that in the Stimulus Package that there is money in there for a magnetic railway from Vegas to Disneyland I watched it 3 times to make sure I was not hearing things. It is a "pet project" of Senate Majority Leader Reed. I wonder if he is a Diser?

Thoughts?

I'll believe it when I see it. There's been talk for years of a high speed rail line between southern and northern california, and southerb california and las vegas. Most of the times these news stories gloss over and don't mention that the money is usually only to do preliminary engineering and feasibility studies.

The arguments against are just so great as well. We are not a nation of train commuters, so something like this could be a very expensive mistake.

We passed some bill for a Nor Cal/So Cal train thing at the last election. But seriously like Kinglouie, I will believe it when I have a ticket in hand and I am standing on the train, that goes for either leg.

It's a genius idea, its seriously needed since the 15 is a very hard freeway to travel, the traffic is a nightmare. It would also be great for tourists. But it would be a huge nightmare to build and take years, and years and years to finish.

So basically yeah cool if it happens but not holding my breath!

It's a great idea, and they have been tossing this high speed train ideas around for a while now. I too will believe it when I see it :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, most of us may not be alive if that happens. :happytv:

Yes, we did pass that bill for the high speed rail between Nor and So Cal, but it will be $$$$ to ride and we would then need a rental car to get to Anaheim...but we would probably ride it once or twice to check it out. :)

But, it would be great if it ever happens! I absolutely abhor the drive between the OC and Vegas... there is nothing to see and the weather can be very iffy during the winter. A trip that typically takes us just over 4 hours took almost 7 on Christmas Day!

Reports that I have heard in the past when this was being talked about stated that it would probably cost a lot for a person to ride this super train. It won't come cheap. The report also stated that it will be come a cost for Californians to run it. I am not a fan of public transportation. I drive to Vegas when I want to go. And fly if there is a time issue. Personally though, I don't see this happening.

I will believe it when I am riding on it. Of course if it is true... My two favorite places to go (other than WDW) are Vegas and DL. Maybe I could live on it and just be in a constant state of traveling to Vegas or DL.:woohoo:

Yep ~ that's were we need to invest a bunch of $$ a train going from Vegas to So CA, I'm so sick of this county's government. And don't forget the mouse that Princess Pelosi wants to save.

Is there somewhere that I can find that? because if thats true im first gonna jump for joy then have a heart attack followed by saving up for an AP upon the completion. I live in Vegas, but I dont have a car so I dont make it to my beloved DL as often as I want to (my bf keeps threatning to move us to cali as if Id mind) that would be sooooo amazing. :cloud9:

PS: but yes tax dollars could be spent on something more prodcutive... but the government has never been very good at that.

Don't get too excited, even if this gets off the ground, figure it will take approx. 10 years or more to actually get built, plus 4-10 years for planning.

Personally I think it is a great idea as I know lots of people who would visit both Vegas and So. Cal far more frequently if there was a train (more tourist dollars for both states!), especially for weekend trips. I mean who wants to take the 7-8 hour trip that it is to Vegas on a Friday???? If they offer a station in Barstow I would so be there!! I hate that drive!!
