Monorail from MK to Epcot

Can someone explain this process and where it drops you off at once you arrive to Epcot. Also the travel time between the two locations. I am thinking of Changing some lunch Plans one day currently have a Tony's Ressie but the bad reviews are starting to get to me. Can't find anything I want at the MK or MK resorts but several I think we would enjoy in Epcot. Just trying to see how difficult it is to get there and if it is worth the hassle with 2 adults, a 14yo and an 8yo. We have park hoppers.

1. At MK, board the Express Monorail (or the Resort Monorail.)
Exit that Monorail at TTC/MK parking lost stop.
(There are on-board announcements reminding you where to exit and which monorail to board for Epcot.)
2. Walk to the Epcot Monorail and board it.
3. Ride to Epcot.
Exit the Monorail. You will be at Epcot's front gates.
Go through Epcot security check and use your MB or tickets and go into Epcot.

Figure the trip will take 30-45 minutes on an average day.
Somewhat longer during peak days or near MK closing time.

Keep in mind that you will basically have to walk the entire length of Epcot to get to the World Showcase restaurants. You may be better off planning to spend the remainder of the afternoon there. 30 minute monorail ride (x2) plus 15 - 20 minute walks (x2) plus any wait time at the Epcot gates plus the time it actually takes to eat is going to take a 2-3 hour chunk out of your day.

FWIW, I didn't find Tonys to be bad at all.

Keep in mind that you will basically have to walk the entire length of Epcot to get to the World Showcase restaurants.

Another route to get to Epcot's World Showcase is to take a Disney BUS from MK gates to the Beach Club Resort.
Then, walk into Epcot's "back door," the International Gateway which enters Epcot between the UK and France pavilions.

Fun quick story, sister and I board the Epcot monorail at Epcot, heading back to the TTC. Weirdly, there is a family on there when we boarded. Okay. A little strange, but whatevs.

as we sit there, we overhear the other family arguing about how to get to MK. "It's the NEXT STOP" is the loudest of the suggestions.

(Over all this anxiety, the announcement of switching monorails to get to MK is made)

Unable to just let things be, and in a lull in the argument, I finally politely explain this is the Epcot monorail. To get to MK, they'll have to switch monorails at the TTC.

When we arrive at the TTC, they remained on the monorail because as the dad said "she doesn't know what she's taking about. There's only one monorail"

I like to think they spent all day on the Epcot monorail.

I would keep Tony's or keep on looking for something else in the MK or a monorail resort (if needed).
We were going to do the same only Epcot back to MK (this was in Oct.) and I am so happy we didn't.
It would have been too much back and forth for my kids (10 and 8) and too much time wasted.

Are you planning on going back to MK after lunch? Or staying in Epcot?

I personally wouldn't spend the time park hopping for lunch unless you plan on staying at Epcot. If nothing in MK calls you try the Polynesian. Your kids may like Ohana. Breakfast until noon and dinner starts at 3:30. Your 8 yo would have fun with the games. Kona is also good.

Bus to beach club and walk to international gateway may be the better route just to get us closer. We would definitely stay a couple of hours in epcot afterward's look to do a lunch around 130 hubby has to be back to hotel by 5. The 14 yo is really into Japanese culture so I think we will book something in Japan and explore the gift shop for a while probably won't ride any rides that day. Will be back to epcot later in the week twice.

Japan is our favorite pavilion. We can easily spend 1-2 hour there, every time. I'm willing to be it will be worth it if he's interested in Japanese culture.

That happens every day.... Or when people tell you that the monorail used to go directly from the Grand Flo to Epcot because they did it multiple times last year...

One rail, sure - but not one destination. The Epcot monorail operates on one rail with two stops. The Express monorail operates on one [different] rail with two stops. The Resorts monorail operates on one [other different] rail with five stops. The Las Vegas monorail operates on one rail with numerous stops.

I would plan to stay at EPCOT if you are doing that.
Liberty Tree Tavern is also quite good at MK.

What kind of cuisine are you looking for? Maybe we can give other suggestions.

I don't even think you have to stay at EP for very long. We would do something like this for our "break" instead of going back to the resort for a pool/nap break. The A/C of the monorail (or bus, if you decide), the leisurely walk to lunch, the meal itself, and then the reverse would be enough to recharge, rest, and energize us for the evening.

Great suggestion. Then it occurred to me, they can get on a bus to almost any destination (excluding Epcot and the monorail resorts). They can just choose their most desirable restaurant and go!

At Christmas Tony's was the only place we could get. I thought from reviews I would be eating shoe leather..

We loved it! Booked again for September

You could walk to contemporary and get bus to Disney Springs. They have a lot of eating places but as others have said I would stay in MK. Or dine in one of the monorail resorts.

That family that refused to change monorails. Don't ever do the underground in London lol..
