Monorail crawl?

We might do something of a monorail crawl, going to the Contemporary, Poly and Grand Floridian lounges and having a drink at each. We are staying at Pop Century. I know (think?) there are two monorail lines - the resort line and the park one. Is my best bet, then, to take a bus to MK and then walk to the resort monorail?

Any help is appreciated:thumbsup2!

Using Disney transportation, yes, a bus to MK, then walking to CR to start your "crawl" is the only option. If you want different ideas...

1) Drive & Park at TTC, then monorail or walk to Poly.
2) Cab to any of the resorts and cab back.

That sounds like the fastest way although you could drive to the MK and then take monorail to MK and switch monorails. Or take the bus to Epcot and change monorails there. You can always take bus from MK back to hotel. At the Contemporary you can sometimes go up to California grill and sit at bar. Otherwise there is a bar with nice view on 4th floor. At poly it's under construction..not sure about bars. At Grand Floridian there is lovely bar off of lobby. Or narcoosees restaurant is rite on water and you could get drink and hang out on porch.

Or to Epcot take the monorail to the TTC and walk to Poly.

Driving to MK means parking at TTC, which puts you next to the Poly. You can also access the resort line at TTC so there's no need to go to MK in order to get on the resort monorail line.

Since the purpose is to go have at least 3 drinks, I'd rely on Disney transportation for this rather than driving. I would either:

- Bus to MK, then walk to CR, take the monorail around to all three resorts, monorail back to MK and bus back to Pop. The MK bus stop is already about as close to CR as it is to the MK monorail station.
- Bus to AK or DHS, then bus to any of the monorail resorts, do the monorail crawl, and then bus from MK back to Pop.

One thing that might be fun, if you have extra time during this, is to take the boat from Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge for a drink there. You can boat back to CR or use the other boat route to go to MK from WL.

Have fun!

One more thought. We are DVC members and often just drive to the grand Floridian to look around. Last time we just parked our car, looked at Christmas decorations and then took monorail to MK for very merry Christmas party. We had a parking pass from the boardwalk plus our magic bands. The guard didnt question us about why we were going to grand Floridian.

I'd bus to MK and walk to CR. Takes about 10 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Crawl will take hours. After all you will be required to "hold for clearance" or discover "opps it broke again" while doing it.

:rotfl2:

IMHO it's become very unreliable and I can't imagine trying to use it for what the OP wants.

And considering how long it takes I figure I could drive, have a drink at each place and be sober by the time Disney gets the monorail back up and running to get me back to my car! :confused3

Seriously? Yes, the monorail is older and has some occasional mechanical isues. But the above post misleadingly makes it appear this is a daily or even hourly problem. Nope.

Mr OrangeCountyCommuter has something against the monorail. Every thread he posts in about the monorail is negative and misleading.

Yes, the monorail is aging and sometimes has delay's but in this case, if you wish to drink, taking the the bus from your resort to MK and then doing the crawl is the best bet.

Again if you have the time, a slight twist on the above. Bus between Pop and MK. From MK, take the boat to WL to have your first drink. Then take the boat from WL to the Contemporary for the second drink. Then get on the monorail for the other two hotels, and the return to MK.
