Resort monorail announcement that it will be closed from 11:30-6:00p thru March supposedly for construction at the GF DVC?

Any idea why? I'm just curious. Inside loop but not the outside so I guess it's not because of proximity of the equipment. Surely they aren't going to build another stop that close to the GF main stop.

I'm baffled. I'm obviously missing something obvious.

I heard they were going to replace some bad beam sections, specially just outside the contemporary...never heard anything about gf construction

Yesterday both the resort monorail and the MK monorails were not running due to track maintenance. They were running buses from TTC to MK as well as boats to MK, Poly and GF

And we're finally staying at BLT over spring break (starting 3/29) and I was really looking forward to the convenience of the monorail. We don't usually use the monorail on most trips so I thought it would be a novelty for us. I even decided to finally try a meal at Ohana's because I figured HOW EASY it should be to get there from BLT. I sure hope they get the work done on time as the next week the parks will be PACKED with spring break / Easter crowds!!!! WDW transportation is bad enough that week WITH the monorail working. They don't need extra problems with partial monorail closures. Seems like they could've thought that one through a little better with the timing....

It did say for DVC construction. If any heavy materials are being loaded over the rails by crane, they would not have the trains running while it happens. The hours sort of suggest this, but you never know. I'm curious to see what it looks like when I'm there in November.

Logic (at least to me) would dictate that if that were the case, both loops would be closed simply for safety's sake. I don't know. Something doesn't smell right. Maybe the conclusion by WDWInfo was just that; a logical conclusion drawn by them and them alone with no basis on facts available.

Not sure I understand you. What other loop are you speaking of? The Epcot line from the TTC, and the Resort loop. The line from the TTC to Epcot would have no bearing on the GF construction.

According to the announcement, both lines are closed.

The article on the DVCNews website (see http://www.dvcnews.com/index.php/ot...and-floridian-work-causes-monorail-disruption) is stating that the monorail system will be down from March 2 to March 17 and only during the hours of 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM. So, if everything goes according to plan, the monorail service should be back to its normal schedule before your trip begins on 3/29. Good luck!

The daily closures are supposed to end on the 17th. All should be back to normal before your trip.

We will be at BLT 3/11 - 3/17 ... haven't received any notice about lack of monorail service. We did receive a letter saying that we won't have a pool slide that week.

Does anyone know how late the monorail currently runs? I seem to remember hearing that monorails weren't running till park closing, anymore, as they needed more time for servicing each night.

They run until 1 hour after regular park close time. If there's an evening EMH, they still stop 1 hour after regular park close. Alternate transportation is provided (bus, boats).

I assume you are referring to shutting down monorail service one hour after regularly scheduled park closings? http://articles.orlandosentinel.com..._monorail-trains-monorail-fleet-zoraya-suarez

As far as I know that restriction is still in affect. People we're posting problems last month getting around because of the closures. When we were there in October though, there were many nights that they posted that the monorails would be open later. It just depended on crowd levels.

I would assume if you are staying for EMH until closing then you will have to bus it to your resort and will have long delays due to the crowds.

It is still pretty easy to get around the MK resorts by boat. :) Many times that's what we choose over the monorial as it's serene and relaxing. Have fun!
