I just returned from Disney properties yesterday 10/19/12. I did not see any other postings on monorail problems. I went to Disney World Kingdom on Wednesday 10/17/12 and Friday 10/19/12. On Wednesday the monorail was down approximately 10:00. After passengers disembarked, the cast members loaded the train with passengers and the monorail was unable to get out of the station. I was in the group of passengers preparing to load on the next monorail. Everyone stood there for a long period of time and then the cast members directed us to load on the resort train. We then went on the resort monorail through two stops to get to the Kingdom. Wasted time 1 hour and 20minutes.
On Friday approximately at 9:45 we attempted to make the same trip to the Magic Kingdom. The salmon colored monorail came into the station and could not disembark the passengers. We stood in line waiting to load and the monorail's computer to "reboot". The people attempting to disembark could not. After a period of approximately 20-30 minutes with the only explanation of was "experiencing delays" My group attempting to load the monorail was directed to the "green" resort monorail. The passengers did not disembark the salmon monorail while we were in the station. When my group on the green resort monrail entered the last station before the Kingdom, I believe it was the Polynesian Village", the resort monorail would not leave the station. The passengers had to wait while the monrail's computer rebooted. The time we got to the Kingdom was 11:05.
Two days three monorails not operating properly and wasting vacationer's time of almost 3 prime hours with almost no information on what the problem was and what the expectations could be.
When I make a complaint I try to be very accurate and I feel I have. Disney does a good job of the movement of many vacationers. I don't have anything but good things to say about the parking lot and tram attendants. I do not know how to avoid the monorail system to get into the Magic Kingdom if you are staying off premises but my experience was dismal to say the least. The trip back was substancially shorter, in the order of 15 minutes total time.
When we did arrive at the Magic Kingdom, on Friday October 19th, at 11:05 the entry computers were down. Everyone was hand checked by cast members for ticketing entry. Something I had never seen before. The weather was prime with no weather related problems suggesting possible electrical malfunctions. The times I utilized were not times I stood in line, but were times that started when my group was the next to load onto the monorail.
I would like anyone to make comments or suggestions on possible remedies for the vacationer. Avoid high entry times, stay on premises are obvious but the monorail system should operate efficently even during prime times.
