Monopod permitted in parks?

DH has a monopod for a new camera he'd like to bring in the parks to take pics. It folds down to a tube about 2 ft long. Will this be permitted in the parks? I'm concerned CMs will assume it's a selfie stick and send us back to our car.

I think he'll be fine (as long as the CMs at the gate don't mistake it for a selfie stick). Other photographers have been bringing average size tripods in since this came out and had no problem.

If there is anyway to consider it a selfie stick (you can pivot the camera to point at you), they will probably say no.

if they tell you no they will just get a GR CM over and they will out it in a bag and give you a ticket to pick it up on your way out, so you will not ave to go back to your car. but it sounds like you should be fine

This is where it is confusing to us as well. A monopod/unipod (which we have) can absolutely be used as a selfie stick by remotely clicking the picture with your phone. They are restricting "hand held extension poles" which these are and yet we've seen some folks using them.

As long as you bring a bag with it inside, you're fine. I brought a tripod in the bag to the left

and no one questioned it.
