That's the current conversation my husband and I are having; whether it's more money-wise to stay offsite and rent a car or to stay on-site and use the transportation system there.
Thanks for the info!
The cost of transportation is an aspect each family needs to factor into their stay regardless of where it is. $2 to 500 for a vehicle versus the cost of a town car or Mears transit is a valid question.
Once you get over four people I think offsite is probably more cost effective no matter what form of tranport you have. You might not have "Disney" magic but there are plenty of locations that have a magical atmosphere of their own. I do own DVC but I promise you if I'm going to visit the other parks I have no desire to stay in the Disney area. I love settling in down ina big roomy elegant condo with wine, cheese and snacks, picking up interesting prepared foods from the local grocery store or restaurants and just Relaxing. I've never felt quite that relaxed in DVC condos because the temptation to go out and get my money's worth is acute.
