i'm so ready to take my kids back to wdw...wife wants to go on DCL also.....7 days with 3 kids for land/cruise with flights will run $6,000 smackeroos.......have you ever just said, "heck with it, charge it to american express, get the skymiles, and pay it later."

the question is, did you regret it???

Nope.
It would make me crazy to do that    but that's just me.You do what feels right for you.

Yes.
No.

The way we figure it, we only have so many years when we will be able to take our children on vacation. We went to Disney 2x a year in 2000, 2001 & 2002. We are trying to figure out a way to do it again this year. At this point we will hold off on other things so we can vacation with the kids. We are also very fortunate that we can.

Go and have a wonderful time with your family! :)

No. If we don't have the cash, we don't go.
But we're not big on charging, that's just us. I even paid cash for all our Christmas presents.
You have to do what works for you.
My best friends always charge their vacations, seems to work for them.

Yes I would charge it for the miles and No I would not feel guilty about carrying the balance for a while.
We always try to have a plan to pay if off in so much time though.
Have fun !!

We had a lot of last minute expenses come up, so although we had the money up until the month before, half of it went out the window during the last month before our trip. We charged it. I do not regret going to wdw, but I wish I could have done it another way.

I try to have our vacations paid before we take the vacation. I need to know I wont come home to bills. This past year I had put money aside for our cruise. At the last minute plans changed. I had to put our hoppers/MVMCP tickets etc on my charge.

The first night we were at PO, DH & I were awake at 4am sitting on the floor reworking the budget.

We compromise and pay the major costs ahead (airfare, hotel or cruisefare) and use plastic for meals, rental car, souveniers (on cruises: bar/wine bill, excursions, etc.).

Denise < --- likes to put her vacations into two bite-size pieces, rather than one horrendous one ;)

We paid for the cruise with cash that we saved all year, and we'll have some cash for the trip down and back too, but we're putting everything during the cruise on plastic, and probably some meals, hotels, etc. and we have gas cards for the fuel to get down and back too. Once we get back, we'll start right in saving for next year's cruise with my parents so that we can pay cash for the cruise itself.

We LOVE our AMEX DELTA Skymiles Card as well as our UNITED MileagePlus Visa:D:D :D :D

However, we NEVER HAVE carried a balance on credit cards. Their interest rates are better than Loan Sharks, but not much better:jester: :jester: :jester: . We DON'T make large expenditures unless we have the cash to pay off the next statement IN FULL:D :D . JMHO......

We always use our credit cards wherever we go, but we always pay off the balance so we don't pay any interest.

That is thanks to my DH, I have no head for money. If it were up to me I would probably have all of our charge cards up to the hilt.

Yes we charged an 8 night stay when our DS was 5...he's 15 now.

No we didn't regret it at all. We went in October and it took us until the following year to pay it off, but we had a great time and we still have those memories! Can't put a price on that:D

That's me....

Charge miles and if I can't pay it right way...I keep on a 0% or 1.9% credit card offer with no fees....get thousands of these every year...so it's free or almost free money mostof the time...

We always pay cash for our trips, that way we don't spend more than we should....and when we get home we don't have to worry about paying for something we've already done. We just start saving for the next trip! :)

I managed to finally get my cards under control, now I don't use them. Except AMEX and then I am forced to pay it off. It works out better for me that way. But DH has once said, the heck with it, I am going to charge it. Since we keep everything serperate, that's OK, too.
