I just realized we have planned to tour Magic Kingdom on Monday, Sept. 12th. I thought I heard somewhere that Mondays at Magic Kingdom are the most crowded. What do you all think? Should I change my plans?
Thank you for your help.

From everything I've read and experienced, Mondays are the worst day to go to the MK. The logic is everyone arrives over the weekend, and the first thing they want to do is go to the MK so they go on Mondays. I have experienced this myself. We went early March for a week and walked on everything Tuesday and Wednesday. Our flight was canceled on Monday due to a blizzard in the Northeast (we got 36") so the kids and I decided to go to MK again. It was PACKED compared to the other days of the week (I'm talking 20-30 minute waits)!! There weren't any special events or any holidays falling in that week so we were really surprised at the difference in the crowds. It may be even more crowded this year depending on the EMH schedule.

On our last trip my family decided to buck the plan I made out and go to MK on Monday, the park was so crowded we could barely move in some places. The lines wore at least 40-45 minute wait times for everything. Like the previous poster said there was no special events, we wore there in the beginning of December when the crowds suppose to be low.

:wave2: We, too, were planning on visiting MK on Sept. 12. The only reason that we had planned on going that day was because it is the only night of SpectroMagic during our stay. I guess we will just cross our fingers.

I know I've read others have different experiences, but on our last day, a Saturday, this past 5 March we went to the MK & it was packed!
I mean full out, 45 minute waits, lots of rowdy young adults & suicidal stroller racers! :earseek:
that said we went into commando mode & didn't do too badly, although I didn't anywhere near enjoy it as much the rest of our WDW trip!

Miss Cranky,

Jean

If that is the only day spectro is playing. What ever you do Don't go to the MK that day. We went last year in May. Spectro was only on Mon.. I read here on the Dis not to go that day. Everyone in the World will be there. Here is what we did. We went to Epcot on Mon. It was great no lines. We made dinner ressies at the Cyrstal Palace at MK at 6:30. We left Epcot around 5:45 took the monarail to MK. Oh my gosh it was so crowded. We went to dinner and then walked out from dinner around 7:30 got a place to watch Spectro then moved over to Main street to watch Wishes. It was great. But there will be a huge wait at the bus stops to get back to your resort. Unless you are staying at one of the Monorail resorts. Those lines went pretty fast. If Wishes is playing later in the week. I would watch Spectro on Mon. Then leave the park. Everyone else will stay for Wishes. Then come back later in the week. Leaving will be a little easier. But still crowded.

When we went last year. I told my BIL what we were doing and told him to stay away from MK on Mon. But he didn't listen. They went anyway. Later that night I asked him how it went. He said it was awful. There were 60 or more min waits all day. They didn't get to much done. They left at 5 they couldn't stand it any more. They missed Spectro and Wishes. I told them so. They never listen to me. We went to MK the next day on Tues. No lines all day it was great. I hope this helps Brenda

I'm keeping my fingers crossed too! We will be there on Sept 12 for the same reason - SpectroMagic! :flower:

We just got back from Disney World. Our last day was Monday August 8th. The kids wanted to go to MK on the last day. The crowds were pretty bad all day. They became absolutley horrendous after 7pm (EMH). I would never do it again.

OK...here is how it works (supposedly)....Monday is busy because of folks arriving on the weekend and hitting MK first thing on Monday (just like previous poster said). Saturday is busy because that is when the locals come...and maybe people hitting it again before they go back home on Sunday.

If that is the only day for Spectro then it will be packed. Do you have park hopper tickets? If so, spend the day somewhere else then "hop" over to MK for the parade...just know it will be crowded. But if that is your only chance to see it, what choice do you have? Look at it this way, you can show your family how crowded their vacation COULD be if you weren't so smart and planned it so wonderfully! :rotfl:

We always avoid MK on Mondays and Saturdays...but we will hop over to see the parade if that is the only time it is playing

We will be at WDW 12/19-12/22 with three days of going to the parks. I was thinking about going to MK on the 19th,(a Monday). I was thinking this because MVMCP is scheduled on the 18th and 20th, but not the 19th. From what I just read do I need to rethink my plan of attack??

So how is Sunday. What is the best park to do to?

We've always found Sunday to be a great day for MK! :teeth: It seems it is a travel day for lots of folks.

I copied and pasted this from Deb Willis' Allearsnet.com......she got the info from WDW.

"During regular attendance periods, our parks tend to be the busiest on the following days:

Magic Kingdom: Monday, Thursday, and Saturday

Epcot: Tuesday and Friday

Disney-MGM Studios: Sunday and Wednesday

Disney's Animal Kingdom: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday"

Our first day into Orlando is on early Monday(August 29), we alwyas start out at MGM studios/Fantasmic. Unfortunately for us, this will be our first time going to Mk on a Monday it's the only night of Spectromagic during our stay, what's MK without Spectromagic...we have an ADR at CRT at 6:30 and plan on heading toward Main Street after dinner to get a spot, we are not planning to do any of the attractions until Thursday...

Thank you for all the replies. Oh my, I am getting very nervous about doing MK on Monday now. And yes, it is the only night for Spectromagic. Maybe we can do a few rides early Monday morning and park hop and come back for dinner at Tony's (ADR at 5:30) and then be ready for Spectro. I think we will pass on Wishes that night and get out before the crowds leave the park. We are staying at the Polynesian so we could just watch wishes from there, but I do love watching it in the park, but oh well.
