Congratulations Leger: I recognize that bib as well :)

TSRE: Definitely not alone on the stress issue. I am trying NOT to have stress, but it is difficult!

Pollito: Sorry you have to take the three hour test.

Skuttle:Hope your test goes well.

TarzansKat: I'm glad you found a place you could get some sleep. I might have to resort to moving soon as well. I understand not wanting to be alone in that hospital all night. I hope you can be induced on the date you want.

I stayed home yesterday because I felt so yuck. I still do today, but maybe not as bad. Had a bad night with the puppy too: He knocked over a bag of food and gorged himself. I was downstairs doing baby laundry and got to him as fast as I could, but he had already eaten a lot. He had a very upset tummy all night and had to go out several times. He is much better this morning, thank goodness. I felt terrible for not getting to him faster, but I'm not very speedy these days!

Have a great day everyone!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Don't feel badly, hon, you did the best you could! :goodvibes At least he's feeling better today and it wasn't anything toxic, just regular dog food. :thumbsup2

Congratulations Leger!! I cannot wait to do some baby shopping at Disney in September.

TSRE: I am having trouble at work dealing with stress too. I had a couple of issues come up that in the past would have probably made me angry, but not anything major. Well I was ready to quit over them now. Of course I knew I was uber-sensitive and overreacting so I didn't do anything stupid, but I wanted to. Oh and I have cried more at work than I ever have.

Pollito: That sucks about the 3 hour test.

Skuttle: Hope you test goes well and you pass with flying colors.

TarzansKat: I'm really not sleeping well either and I still have a LONG way to go. Last night I kept dreaming about diapers. (Go figure....I did just get the first of the cloth diapers in that I ordered yesterday so that might have been why, but really I could do without dreaming about fuzzibunz and bumgenius :rotfl:)

Irisbud: Sorry you aren't feeling well. Hopefully it passes. And don't worry about the puppy....it happens to us all.

Well I had my 22 week appt this morning. I found out why they haven't been checking my urine and although it could be irritating it is actually just kind of funny. They were supposed to be....they had just never told me. After she checked my blood pressure she asked me if I had left a urine sample yet and I told her that I hadn't been asked to leave one at all this pregnancy. Well when I went in the restroom it had a note for all OB patients to please make sure they left a urine sample every visit. Well prior to today I had never even been in the restroom and wouldn't have today if they hadn't told me to leave a sample.

Well my blood pressure was high so I had to go get a blood pressure monitor and check my blood pressure twice a day until my next appointment. It worries me a little because my blood pressure was really high at the end of my prior pregnancy and got me put on bedrest at 37 weeks. But as long as we are watching it I know things will be okay. I did forget to ask about my glucose test and when I would be doing it so I'm going to call later. I did get my appts scheduled into October though which is nice.

Well I best get to work. Hope everyone is having a great day.

I'm intrigued by the cloth diapers. I've thought of trying them but am not sure if I am brave enough.

I can't believe they never asked. Like you said, it's sort of funny but also not. Mine will tell me when I get there, you can go right and leave your sample. I just started doing it on my own because I know they're going to tell me that. :thumbsup2

Good luck with your blood pressure. I've had issues with that, so I can undesrtand how you feel.

I got to go in for monitoring this morning. Yay. Squirt was just being quieter than normal and I was starting to worry (okay, so maybe I'm paranoid). I had a friend from high school that had a stillborn at 36 weeks, so that's always in the back of my mind. I called the doctor's office this morning and they had me come in for monitoring. Of course, as soon as they hooked me up, she was wiggling away. She passed the monitoring with flying colors and it turns out I'm having contractions that I didn't know about! I also got the results from my GBS swab and it looks like I'm positive, so IV antibiotics during labor, here I come.

irisbud- my cat gorged herself on an unopened bag of cat food that we hadn't had the chance to put away yet. The little stinker chewed a hole in the side and helped herself! Cleaning up after that wasn't fun as I was about 12 weeks pregnant at the time (with my missed m/c) and I was gagging at everything. Although, that wasn't as bad as the time this pregnancy that I opened the shower curtain to take a shower and surprise! pile of cat puke!

I'm intrigued by the cloth diapers. I've thought of trying them but am not sure if I am brave enough.

Well I was intrigued too, and DH decided he wanted to do cloth, so I went along with it. So far, it hasn't been that big of a deal. It's a little more work to set the diaper up, but part of that might also be the steps of dealing w/ the circumcision -- I'll be glad when that part is over. We went with the Real Nappies. We had originally planned on doing all gDiapers (a biodegradable cloth/disposable hybrid), so it wasn't much of a leap to cloth. We're also still using disposables overnight because the change is a bit faster, and they really are more absorbent.

Let me know if you have other questions. I'm still lurking here cuz I can't find the "newest mommies" thread. ;)

Tarzanskat: I hope everything works out and you can have that baby when others will be around to help! I worry about that with DS. All of our family lives 1.5 hours away. I do have a close friend from work that I think I would feel comfortable calling if needed to sit with DS until family would arrive. I have a loooong time to figure that one out!

WDWorBust: That's too funny! I have to pee in a cup at every visit as well. I can't believe no one ever noticed that you weren't doing that before now! Good luck with the HBP. I was put on bedrest with my DS at 32 weeks due to HBP. As it creeped up, they had me go in about 30 minutes early and sit in the waiting room before checking in to see if that helped. Then they had my lay down on the exam table before taking it. Finally they put in my the hospital for a 2 hour check and my blood pressure stayed low so I was put on bed rest and had to go in for weekly NSTs. My water broke at 35w6d, so at least I wasn't on bed rest too long. I worry about that a lot, but try to relax as much as I can before they take my blood pressure.

pixiegoose: Great news! I didn't know I was having contractions until after labor was in fully swing. Then I realized that those "gas pains" I thought I had been having for the past week or two were actually contractions. I felt so stupid!

Irisbud: Sounds like something our dogs would do!

What kind of stollers are you girls using? Since we had DS 7 years ago, we will need a new infant carrier. I also got rid of our stroller that came with the travel system because it was big and bulky. I don't really want to do a travel system again, but it is a lot more cost efficient it seems. I thought about doing the infant carrier and those metal frame things that you can snap them in, and then later getting a nice umbrella stroller (thinking MacLaren).

Yeah, I'm still not quite sure what the contractions are feeling like. And my mom is no help because she, too, thought she was just having gas pains and then her water broke and she had a c-section (I was breech) and thus doesn't know what "real" contractions feel like. We'll see how it all ends up!

As for strollers, we did get a travel system (the Graco Alano Flip It) but we also got a Maclaren Techno XT (which should be getting here any day!) for when we don't want to deal with the other one and for Disney, of course! We got the travel system we did because it has the flip handle so she can be facing us when in the stroller if we want.

I had my glucose test today. I had fruit punch flavor. It was still gross, but better than orange!

I agree - the fruit punch was much better than the orange! I hope you did better on your test than I did on mine - going for the 3 hour tomorrow.

I won't even talk about how many brownies I ate yesterday.

I baked them myself (rare nowadays), how could I resist? :lmao:

Mmmm, homemade brownies. That is my favorite! :goodvibes

I've been going back and forth with my doctor's office about the possibility of being induced. They agree that it's probably a good idea, but I'm sort of wrangling with them over the date. If they do it when I'm asking, I have people set up who can take care of my son, no issue. If I do it when they want to, I'm basically going to be spending a night alone in the hospital (because of the possible need to put on the 12 hour gel to soften the cervix).

How many days different is their date vs your date? That's weird that they aren't agreeing to your date. My SIL was induced 1 week early in March with no medical reason, just b/c it was more convenient for her DH's work schedule.

I stayed home yesterday because I felt so yuck. I still do today, but maybe not as bad. Had a bad night with the puppy too: He knocked over a bag of food and gorged himself. That stinks, I hope the puppy is feeling better!

How strange that nobody noticed sooner!

With DS3 we went with your idea to use an infant carrier frame in the beginning, then a nice umbrella stroller when DS outgrew the infant carrier. I really liked this last time, and am planning to do it again with DD since we still have all of those strollers. Like you, I don't like the bulkiness of most travel system strollers. Though that Graco Alana one does look nice, I just can't reason spending the money when we still have everything from DS and it's in good shape. The good thing with the stroller frame is that the infant carrier is positioned so that the baby faces you, which I really liked when he was tiny. By the time he was ready for the umbrella stroller, it was weird to have him facing away at first, but I think it is also better for him.

I almost forgot - tried to log-on to the DIS at work today, and it's been blocked! :sad2: Such a sad day. So I'll probably be around less often since I don't usually like to use the computer when I get home at night. I don't know what I'm going to do at work all day without the DIS! :confused3 ;)

I did a ton of research and just got my first order of Grobaby diapers. I got 12 shells, 24 soaker pads, and 12 booster pads for $281 - which was a significant savings. Next I plan to get a few fuzzibunz and a few bumgenius 4.0, and a few Flip covers and then prefolds. I really don't think it will be too bad. And even with the start up expense I can see significant savings.

I am skipping the infant seat and travel system this time too. I also am getting a Maclaren Techno XT (which should also be here any day) and either a Graco MyRide 65 or the First Years True Fit Premier.

There are days that I wish they would block it at work - it can be such a distraction :rotfl:

Hi everyone! I don't post much, but I do try to read daily so I'm still here. I'm just so thrilled this is going to be a summer to remember here b/c of the lovely HOT, humid weather we are having. UGH! I'm not liking the heat at all.

Other than that, I feel huge already. I don't remember feeling this big with my 1st, although that was 7 yrs ago. I'll be 26 weeks this Friday, still a long way to go!

My cousin gave me her graco car seat and base. So, I decided to get rid of my bulky travel system stroller since the car seats were expired. I ended up buying the snap n go frame. I hear people love them. I actually bought a new one for $60,then returned it and found a used one on craigslist for $15. I'm all about the deals this time around since I'm pretty sure we are done after this baby. Once the baby outgrows his infant seat, we have a Maclaren Triumph I bought when DD was 4 for Disney. I ended up with last years model at the time and got it for under $100 new which I thought was a good deal on a Maclaren.

The girl that sold me the snap n go frame said she loved it and used it all the time, even grocery shopping, going to the mall, etc. Plus, it fits nicely in the trunk, etc. Since this baby is due late Oct., I'm thinking I won't be using it too much outside so I'm glad I'm only spending $15 for it.

Now, if I could just get motivated to get the baby's room ready..........

I feel so much bigger with this pregnancy than the first too! So uncomfortable already and about 2 months to go!

Sounds like you found some great deals. I also had the Snap N Go with DS and LOVED it for all of the reasons you listed. I'm planning to use it again with DD.

If you haven't already done so, you may want to do a quick check on the Graco seat for recalls, b/c there were some recent recalls on the Graco carseats: http://www.gracobaby.com/SafetyAndRecall/Pages/SafetyAndRecallNotification.aspx?page=SafetyAndRecall

Ladies - I got an extra offer for a FREE $20 gift card from Target if anyone hasn't completed a Baby Registry there yet. PM me if you're interested!

Hmmmm... what are the stipulations?? I don't have a Target but I'd totally make a baby registry for a free $20. I do order some stuff off their site (our glider is off there)

... I finally got my diaper bag Monday with a 20% off coupon at buybuyBaby. A Skip Hop duo double. DH thinks its huge, and I agree, but I figure it'll fill up rather quickly once I'm packing for 2. :scared1:

I went with the stroller frame. I got the Graco Mickey in the House Snugride carseat and the Graco Snugrider stroller frame. It looks a lot less bulky than the travel systems. I plan on getting a nice umbrella stroller when the baby outgrows the car seat.

I'm doing pretty good. 30 weeks today. I'm so ready for the baby to come. I'm so tired and baby seems to have dropped already. I'm feeling pretty good and have no problems with swelling or anything else. I'm glad I'm 3/4 of the way done this pregnancy. Only 9 weeks and 1 day till my scheduled c-section, but I'm secretly hoping to go into labor before then. Nursery is painted and I have almost everything I need. I'm planning on replacing the mattress that came with the crib. It's a 10 yr old crib so I imagine the mattress is also 10 yrs old. I'd also like to get a dresser for the baby's room, but I can make do with the shelving unit in the closet. I keep going back and forth on buying a dresser. The closet had 4 shelves, so there is plenty of storage space and space to hang the baby clothes. And I didn't really use the changing table that much with my DD, I used the bed, crib or floor most of the time. I did find a dresser/ changing table on craigslist for $75, but still not 100% sure I want to get it. I did get some great deals last week at some resale shops. I found a hotsling pouch sling for $7 and a Maya wrap ring sling for $12. I'll have to see how they fit when the baby is here. All in all its' been a good few weeks.

How do you like the gDiapers? I just got my first one in the mail and was so excited bc it is so cute. Or did you end up using them at all?

TarzansKat, if you are interested in doing cloth but aren't sure, nickisdiapers.com lets you buy, use, wash and then exchange if you need to, and they have stuff that isn't for cloth diapering, so If you want to just try it you could without a huge commitment.

I did cloth with my first 2, until I gave up when the youngest was about 6 months old, they were both in diapers, he was still only sleeping 2 hours at a stretch, I was working from home, and something just had to give. I wasn't going to this time, but when I thought about it I liked using cloth, and am on top of the laundry enough now that an extra load every other day isn't a big deal. I sat down and figured out the cost difference, figuring on super-cheap disposables I wouldn't actually use and on the "fancy" cloth diapers (I used pins the first go around) with a high estimate of washing costs, and the saving over 1 1/2 years was in the 1000's. That sold me. Plus, I just can't resist the ruffle on the rear of the gDiapers :)

Tarzanskat: I hope everything works out and you can have that baby when others will be around to help! I worry about that with DS. All of our family lives 1.5 hours away. I settled on the Chicco KeyFit30 with the MacLaren snap-n-go type frame (the chicco doesn't fit in the Graco) because I didn't want a travel system either. There was someone at the boys' school using this combo, so I pushed it around and held the carseat and liked it. Then I asked them if they were interested in selling it to me - and they said they would give it to me  We are going to get the BabyJogger City Mini for a long-term stroller.

What a pain! I wish more places would leave the computers alone - I figure if your work is getting done on time and well, you should have the freedom to do what you want with the rest of your time.

Well, we made a little trip to the hospital last night.

Yesterday, during my non stress test, I was having some contractions, and my back was killing me. The back pain was very similar to my first, so I thought, hmmm, maybe it's time.

When I got home, the contractions seemed to get worse, and so I decided to go in and get checked. Unfortunately, I hadn't progressed much further, and they sort of fizzled out. I had a high amount of protein in my urine, so they did some bloodwork which came back fine, but now I have to do the 24 hour urine collection.

What. Fun. Is.

LOL I've had to do it before, so no big deal, but just a general pain. Back is still crampy today, but the nurse gave me some heat packs, so hopefully that'll help.

Long story short is that it's starting, but not consistent, so we'll see. :goodvibes

-----------------------

For some reason I missed reading all the previous replies, before I posted.

Sorry about that. To answer a few questions, the reason the induction was turning into a scheduling issue is because of my doctor's availability. I belong to a group practice, but I prefer to use this particular doctor. Really like his bedside manner and he delivered my first, so I feel comfortable with him. I ended up going with the dates he was available, and my dad was able to work his schedule to be available so that I'll really only be spending a couple of hours alone in the hospital. And this actually won't even be "active" labor, this will be the night before, with the induction scheduled for the following day, so I'm very happy with the planned date.

Now we'll see if baby stays in until then! LOL

I'm going to have to put some more research into cloth diapers, thanks for all your responses! I really appreciate it.

I am officially scheduled! August 26th. She gave me the option of the 24th, 26th or my due date- the 31st. I opted for the 26th so Lucas would only need care for 1 day, the Friday after.

I am apparently measuring abnormally large. I sorta figured, because I'm having a lot more issues getting out of bed and even maternity shirts don't cover my belly (you can see the belly panel of my shorts, I hate it but what can you do??) so I'm going in for an ultrasound on Saturday. She wants to see what is going on because she said she wants to know if baby is really big (since I measured spot-on with Lucas and he was 9lb5oz @ 39 weeks) or if I have excess fluid.

So does anyone know what they do if you do have excess fluid? I didn't ask, because it honestly never occured to me that they'd do anything, but when my friend asked I realized... if she wasn't going to do something, why even do the ultrasound to see if that is the issue?
I'm having an RCS so it's not like the size of the baby is of huge concern for delivery purposes... so now I'm just curious.
