Moms to be Part 4

I am hoping that this works to my favor when I ask for a 38 week induction. Something good has to come out of it, right?

Yep. In the end we get cute little babies. :cloud9: Getting there can be a real witch, though!!

I just had to share my excitement since no one IRL really cares lol...

I got my double stroller!! UPS just dropped it off, and I couldn't wait to take it out of the box. How cool!! It's becoming real, I'm gonna be a mommy of 2!!!

:dance3: Great news!

I had DD in Marathons until she got too tall for them. I then got her a Regent for my moms car and a Nautilus for both DH's and my cars. If I were doing it I would go with a Nautilus for your DD and use the marathon for the baby. I'm not familiar with the Triumphs....as much as I love my marathons I may go with the smaller Graco (I think Comfortride or Myride....not sure which one my name only) and then by the time the baby needs a bigger seat DD will be out of a seat most likely....well maybe :)

Found my Prince: Yeah!

Piecy: I was really surprised that they won't try to do it at my next vist; I'll be 17weeks and 1 day. I am HOPING they will order it for sooner than 2 weeks after that visit, but if not life goes on. I just really want to know so I can buy some things. DH is REALLY adament that we have to wait, which I think is silly but whatever.

I think it's a boy, but who knows?

Speaking of buying things: DH is sort of driving me nuts (but it could just be the hormones, LOL). For example, I am 99% sure I want the stroller I mentioned earlier. We have seen it as well, and pushed it in the store, etc., and I really like it. I just want to buy the darn thing (It is navy and tan, but we think that will be okay for either a boy or a girl; we both like navy :) ) He wants me to wait and do our registry and see if people buy it for us. I don't see what the big deal is; we can afford it just fine..wierd

I am concerned (and he doesn't understand) because I have read a LOT of stories about people that refuse to buy off of your registry and just buy whatever THEY want to give you. I can totally see this happening for us, and with things like the stroller, carseat, etc. that are important, I want total control over it, KWIM?

Silly hormones...

If you can afford it, I'd buy stuff little by little too. I think it's easier that way than being at the end and having to go out and do everything all at once. Plus this way you can look for sales or deals and not wind up buying something just because you're close to the end and need to get something to fill a need

:lmao: It's hard to imagine being a mom of 2, huh? DH and I are still stunned by it all and we still have 22 weeks to go! What stroller did you end up getting?

I have a question about car seats. We bought a Britax Marathon ($300) for DDs main car seat. We got a Triumph for DHs ($130) truck. Each has its own merits. Now that we are having a second, and DD has not outgrown her seats - and probably won't for some time - we have to buy two more car seats. I'd rather not spend the money on another Britax, so I was thinking of getting two more Triumphs. Unless anyone has a car seat that runs about $100 that they love?

Your daughter looks pretty big, I assume she is forward facing? If she is I'd consider getting a Graco Nautilus- it harnesses up to a certain point (it was a nice high limit) and then can be used as a booster. The only thing to consider is that if Baby is small and needs to be in a carseat for a long time, your Britax may expire before he or she is done using it.

Oh he sounds like a real winner. Ugh. LOL, I'd leave too. Haha I'd call the hospital beforehand and ask if he was the one on call.. then if he was... drive to the other hospital! I can't stand doctors like that. Seriously, they need to get out of the medical field entirely. Go be a stockbroker or something.

OMG, I am laughing because I told DH the same thing- he needs to do some sort of office work where he doesn't have to interact with people very often!

I am trying to remember that it will be worth it in the end. Some days are harder than others though ;)

No news from my end.

I've had a rough week with trying to nudge this baby out. My girl parts feel like hamburger from being swept 5x. As a result I spotted all week. I went for 3 days with hardly eating anything due to stress and then castor oil concoctions. On top of that I have had acupuncture 3x, acupressure, used the breast pump, BD'd when I did not want to, walked, went on the eliptical and cried every day.

We had an induction appt. this morning but there was no bed space so we try again tomorrow. DD#2 got the flu over the weekend so on top of all of this baby stuff she was barfing and had a fever. So she was barfing and I was on the toilet from the castor oil.

Everytime we speak to somebody from the hospital we get a different story. Today after I expressed my frustration they told me to come in this evening for prostaglandin insertion. So I arranged to have my mother who just went through breast cancer surgery and radiation to look after the kids for a couple of hours. Then I got another call from somebody else cancelling it because they just figured out this is baby #3 for us and I did not need to have my cervix ripened. You would think they would figure that out from my chart plus I told them I have had other kids.

I had an ultrasound this morning and baby is fine. I have another ultrasound scheduled for next Monday. At this rate this kid will be able to drive out of my uterus as she will be old enough by then. It's ironic that when I was first diagnosed with GD it was a big panic and I was told I would be induced at 38 weeks. So here I am at 40w1d and nobody cares.

To top of my day DD#2 was with us because she had a fever and couldn't go to day care. Today she barfed hot dogs all over the interior of our van.

Kiki - I just want to cry with you. I am keeping you in my thoughts that this baby comes soon. I hope your DD feels better ...

Becky - That dr. sounds horrible. I'd leave too!! Luckily I like all the doctors in our practice and they are all on the same page for the most part. My old OB, I only met the other doctor's once and didn't really care for them. I got very lucky the morning I walked in, in labor that my OB was on.

I didn't get a shower with this one but really didn't expect to. I wouldn't have minded but didn't think it would happen! My mom didn't really know what to do as we don't have much for family and other than my BFF, I don't have many friends since we just moved back. We were surprised that my MIL didn't do anything since my DH has a huge family. With my DS we had to buy everything ourselves too. My parents bought the travel system/car seat and a bunch of clothes and things like that along the way. My mom made Alex is baby blanket which is a replica of my baby blanket that I still have in shreds in my drawer! It's his lovey of choice, which is what I was hoping for! My mom still outfits Alex with shoes and jackets and pj's all the time. My MIL made us a blanket for Alex. A blanket, which by the way is 60% pink. This time around my mom has bought Ryan some clothes since she knows we have nothing warm for him and also bought us the rocker/recliner for the nursery. My MIL, nothing. Since she didn't get us anything for our wedding I am not expecting her to even get anything once Ryan is born. Obviously not about the gifts but it's just odd.

So I went off on a tangent and I am sure there was more I was going to respond to. I am sorry, I forget!!

I have my pre-op appointment this AM. DH and DS are coming with me since DH has never met this doctor and it would probably be a good idea! Gotta jump in the shower soon.

I'm so sorry! I hope your sweet baby comes soon.

Is it normal practice to induce GD babies at 38 weeks? I am having a scheduled c-section and I wonder if they will schedule me at 38 weeks. :confused3

Kiki: I hope something (good!) happens for you soon!

Oh Kiki. I can't imagine the crap you're going through. I would have asked for a c/s by now!!

 I'd be crying constantly, you must be so strong!

If I asked for a c-section then I would be on the daily waiting list for that too...LOL

I am waiting for the doctor to call me back. She left a message wanting me to come in and talk about it as she is getting different messages from the hospital. Less talk more rock I say. Just get 'r' done already.

LOL, true. Hopefully the Dr. calls back soon with some good news! I agree... they need to hurry it up here!

That is awful. It has to end soon, this is just not right what they are putting you through. I seriously cannot believe that they are jerking you around like that. I really hope that something happens soon for you because this is unacceptable

There are four docs and three midwives in the practice, this is the only one I really do not like. There was another who annoyed me when I was in labor with my twins but he was who I saw the other night in L&D and he was really sweet and really good to me so no complaints there. This one is just, well, a lot of words I can't use on the DIS. ;)

That is so weird with your MIL. When I was pregnant with my oldest my family threw a huge shower. I thought when I got pregnant the second time they might do something small, only because it was twins and my cousin had had a second shower for when her second was twins. They didn't and no big deal, DH and I just bought what we needed.

DH's family though, a bit more weird. When we were expecting our first, my MIL was SOOOOO disappointed, etc... we were in our early 20's, had "only" been together for 5 or so years, weren't married yet, etc.... I was ruining DH's life and all this other stuff. So she did not come to my shower, wouldn't give my mom any addresses or info for any of their family or family friends to be invited or anything. When DD was born and DH called them from the hospital all excited, his mother was like well, I'm not sure we'll come up, it's late (9:30 pm and she stays up way later than that). The whole thing was crazy. DH's father, who was VERY excited, must have dragged her up there and amazing how quickly things changed once they saw DD. I'm glad for the kids sake that the tune changed but unfortunately I still remember and as different as things are now it still upsets me sometimes.

Anyhow, so I had thought that maybe since things were different and they skipped out on the first, that they might do something for the twins but nope. So, you're not the only one with weird inlaws!

Okay, I got my double stroller but can't figure out how to unfold the thing. The instructions have pictures. I am not a picture girl. I need words to understand!!! Grrrrr....

My MIL is a peach, too. She told DH she wasn't going to do anything or attend anything involving the baby. She hated that he married me. (Would have preferred that we just shacked up and had babies without the marriage license) She hated that I was having a boy. She lectured me when I said I was getting DS circumcised. She lectured me on my indecisiveness for pain medications. She ridiculed me and everything else she could possibly do to make my life miserable. Luckily, DH noticed and he's pretty fed up with her. We don't see her much.
She was at the hospital the night DS was born, surprisingly... she got a little upset that my L&D nurse wouldn't hand DS over. Uh, hello?! I hadn't held him yet! I was still in the OR!

She has zero interest in this pregnancy. She told DH she "Was not happy" when he told her. That it was too soon, we're making a mistake, etc.. It caused a ton of issues between them, DH was REALLY hurt. His brother (who doesn't have kids) told him that he was being ridiculous to be upset by what their mother said because they "all feel that way" because we "don't take care of the kid that we have". His reasoning? In the 3 hours we were there for Christmas dinner ALL we fed Lucas was 2 bottles.
It doesn't matter that that is all he needed, BIL thought Lucas should have been given table food and said we're starving our son. My son who is constantly in the 90th percentile for weight, since birth. When we told him we were following our pediatrician's recommendations for feeding (introducing solids VERY slowly) he threw a fit and said our pediatrician didn't know poop. Only not poop, if you know what I mean.
Ugh. :rotfl: Sorry to go off, but I really dislike my DH's family!

OH!! OH! I couldn't open ours either. I looked up the instructions online. It's similar to the Macs I have but it's a little harder. On both sides there are little "handle" type things, you have to pick them up/pull them outward at the same time. I found it easiest to do when it was wheels-side-down. :thumbsup2

I got those handles moved but it's not "clicking" into place. Grrr..
