I'm really considering getting the Techno XT also....have you compared it side by side with a Quest? (We have had a Quest for DD for over 6 years and although still okay won't last through another child) And have you purchased from them before without problems? Oh...one last question....are these older models? Or 2010...or do you know...I couldn't find it on the site.
Thanks!
Amanda

I haven't compared it side by side but I played with the quest in Babies R Us and actually used the techno while watching a friend's one year old. I really couldn't tell much difference but I also wasn't really playing with the techno since there was a kid in it! I just figured that we were willing to pay the normal price of a quest (around $230ish) so we might as well upgrade for basically the same price. As for what year they are, I suspect they're 2009 but I'm not sure and it didn't really matter to me since they're new. I haven't purchased from them before but my friend has with no problems.

And that took a really long time for me to type with an iPad!

Thanks for the feedback. I did go ahead and order it. I had really been debating trying to find something I liked as well as my Mac but so far really hadn't. I ruled out the Volo because I really just want to have one stroller to last throughout (I might still get a carseat frame...haven't decided on that yet). I didn't like how shallow the seat on the Triumph was. LOVE LOVE LOVE my Quest....but I haven't seen them for less than the XT was even the older models so like you I decided to go ahead and "upgrade". Hopefully I don't regret that decision....but I really don't think I will. And considering regular retail on it was $315 I felt like I wouldn't find it cheaper later (although it was $249 at Amazon - it was still $40 less this way). Thanks for sharing your find - I really benefitted from it :)

OMG! I'm so sorry about your mom's passing. I hope you continue to have a happy healthy pregnancy-- I agree, you have a guardian angel!

Thank you very much. :goodvibes

Awwww!! That's so sweet. I can't wait to do that kind of nesting. :cloud9:

(I didn't nest last time, long story)

I'm just so excited to meet this baby, I like planning for his arrival.

Ahhh here we go. I didn't want to make that post any longer than necessary. Anywho, I've been sick as a dog since last Thursday. I felt a little better Saturday, DH and I went to Target and out for a bite to eat, and Sunday I was a mess. Monday I had to call MIL to come over to bring me to the Dr. Turns out I have both a sinus and upper respiratory infection! Yikes. No wonder I've been feeling like smeared poo. I actually had my mom help me since Tuesday, she just left this afternoon. Ugh, I was a hot mess. a HOT HOT mess. Hotter mess than Lindsay Lohan, but with antibiotics instead of coke.
I'm finally returning to the living today, but now DD is getting sickies. I hope hers isn't an infection... just a cold. ::sigh::

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

That bolded part had me laughing out loud.

I had an upper respiratory thing a few weeks ago, and boy did antibiotics sure make it better! I hope you and your DD feel better soon, hon.

Well ladies after suffering through pain for a week I broke down and went to the ER tonight. Turns out my instincts were right and what I have is not hemorrhoids, but an abscess. So I'm now on antibiotics and hydrocodone for that pain. I also have a referral to a specialist to see if it will need to be drained. I'm praying and hoping I can get in asap for me and baby's sake. I did learn that if I think the Dr is wrong not to keep waiting as it can only get worse.

Feel better soon, and good luck!

Well my boss came up with the idea of having the doctor write it down so I could give it to DD and she could find out first and tell us and DD went for it! WooHooo.....so as of next Thursday I should know gender and can start chipping away at the shopping list.

That's a great idea - I was contemplating doing that if DH wasn't able to make our big u/s.

Um, ladies... anyone have before and after pictures of your belly when baby dropped? I think my guy might have started his descent (which would be way early for a 2nd baby). My belly seems lower to me - my b**bs are not resting on it - and I can sort of actually breathe!

Nope, DS3 never dropped completely, and this DD is so high sometimes I think I feel her kicking my chin!

Turns out I have both a sinus and upper respiratory infection!

Yuck, sorry you've been feeling so crappy. I seem to get something like that at least once a year, and with my asthma, it's killer. Glad you're starting to feel better, and I hope your DD doesn't get an infection too! Take care!

Ouch! That sounds really painful. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Went grocery shopping this morning, which I really don't enjoy, and when I got home, found we didn't have water. Apparently the water company was flushing the fire hydrants in the neighborhood (I really have no idea what this entails), but in the process, a water main broke on our street. So, from 10:00 this morning to 7:30 this evening we didn't have any water.....Thankfully it's back on, but we have a boil order in effect for 36 hours!  So, I sent DH out to buy some bottled water.

That sounds like a pain in the behind! Hopefully everything is back to normal soon!

Well, I think my "nesting" is finally starting to kick in too. It never did with DS, a few weeks before he was born my mom had to come over and help set everything up from the shower.

We are having an unusual "cool" spell of weather this weekend - only in the lower 90s! So I wanted to make sure DH got to painting the new nursery while we could open a window and not have air rushing in that feels like a furnace! He's in there putting up tape for the top half of the room right now. I went to the store with my sister yesterday to get a stencil to put up - she's really artistic and I'm really not. And we finished transferring DS3's room from his baby monkey theme to his "big boy" outer space/Buzz Lightyear theme. His room looks so cute! I'll post pictures of everything after DH is done.

And yesterday morning DS and I went to an outdoor mall to let him play in this splash area, then to the disney store where they were playing Toy Story 3 bingo. DS won the 2nd round! But since Disney is so fair, everyone who played got a prize each round. He got a TS3 bookmark and an alien craft thing. And I found an adorable baby Minnie hooded towel for DD! So far it's been a great but exhausting weekend! I hope everyone is having a great weekend too - any big plans?

We had our 29w U/S today and it went well. First, she is still a she. Thank God because I can't be finding out it's a boy NOW! :scared1:

We get to schedule our section next visit which is exciting. But what is not exciting is that I heard today one of my student's moms may have used our baby name for her son born yesterday. Not a big deal if you live in a big city, but I don't! It's not a terribly common name I've picked and to have 2 in the same class is not what I want. So if she did, back to the drawing board which will kill me! It took months to pick this one. So cross your fingers she didn't use it.

Hope everyone is having an easy pregnancy!

Glad she is still a she!

That stinks about the name. Did you find out for sure?

I know how you feel. Both of my favorite boy names were taken by friends & family. I have no idea what we are going to name this baby.

Harper Mae was born June 3rd at 8:06 pm - 7 lb 13.5 oz (huge for my family of 6 lb 8 oz babies!) and 20.5 inches long. Totally healthy and we're over the moon!

Congrats! Love her name!

I am so stinking excited. If you remember my doctor's office does not allow children in the office so although I have an appt next Thursday where they will check gender I wasn't going to find out because I promised DD she could be there. Well my boss came up with the idea of having the doctor write it down so I could give it to DD and she could find out first and tell us and DD went for it! Great idea! I'm sure your DD will be thrilled.

Me too. My cousin gave me 4 bags of baby clothes so I am washing them all today and am going to organize by size and put them away. I was sick of looking at them in bags for the last few weeks.

I still have at least that much clothes left from DS3. I have kept everything from the time he was born until now, except for a few outfits that were destroyed and some Carters things that were recalled. They are in rubbermaid tubs in the closet of the new nursery, but I want to move them out before she gets here. Problem is, I have no basement or attic to put them in, so I'm not sure what to do with them. Part of me wants to go through and just keep my favorites, but DH comes from a very poor family where they keep everything or at least give it to family, so he doesn't want to get rid of anything. Hmmm, his nephew is having a little boy next month, maybe we could ship them to Mexico...I wonder how much that would cost, would it even be worth it?

Yikes! I'm hot, and it hasn't even hit that here yet. Well, just one abnormal day, and I foolishly chose it to run errands. Oy. Vey. :lmao:

Sounds like you're having an awesome weekend!

I actually got my closet cleaned out, which I am so excited about, with bags and bags o' stuff donate. And now I can actually find/see things in there. Also cleared off the top half of our short bureau (which plan to use as a changing area), so that felt really good.

We haven't done anything big, just gotten a lot done which always feels so good. :thumbsup2

It sure does - feels like such an accomplishment to knock out a bunch of things.

Has anyone ever gotten really, really scared while pregnant and had their belly seize up into a hard little ball around the baby? We were camping this weekend and a bear came into our campsite a few times last night. DH was really great about scaring it away (again and again), but I was really scared probably for the first time ever when pregnant. It went on for at least 1/2 hour, and my stomach seized up into a little ball and hurt like crazy, then I just about hyperventilated. Everything is normal now (and we have a really crazy story to tell!), and I assume it was a defensive response, but has anyone ever had that happen?

Yep... not really 'scared' per se, but stressed? Yep. Happened to me quite a few times!

Sorry for the quickie response, I don't have a ton of time to myself at the moment!

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I saw the specialist on friday morning and friday afternoon was taken into surgery to have the abscess drained. Had I not been pregnant it would have been done in office, but for baby's sake they took extra precautions. They gave me a spinal and some meds to relax me. I stayed over night just to make sure baby was handling things well and then sent home. I've taken it easy all weekend, but am feeling a lot better than I had been. I see my OB today just to check that Baby is still doing great. I'll also go back to the specialist later this week, jut to make sure everything looks great. I'm almost off all pain meds and can sit down without much discomfort today.

I've had Braxton Hicks contractions for the larger portion of this pregnancy, so is it possible you experience that as triggered by the stress of your situation?

Mine is mostly from when I do too much, too much standing, work, etc, but I'm sure stress could bring it on.

I'm glad to hear you're doing better, and will keep thinking of you and hoping you and baby are okay.

Hey ladies! My apologies for not keeping up with everyone better. We seem to have quite a few "sickies" here lately and I hope you are all feeling better, and if not yet that you will be soon.

We have nesting going on...I desperately need to start that one myself. Don't really know yet where we are going to put the baby, much less all the "gear" that goes with one. I'm trying to minimize how much stuff we end up with, but there are still those things that really do make life easier.

Well we should find out gender Thursday night so this weekend I can start going through all the baby stuff in the garage. I will either be selling it if we end up with a boy....or going through it and organizing it a bit better by size for this baby if it's a girl. But knowing which I'm doing will make it much easier. And I hope to find a few maternity things that I know I put up but are most likely mixed in with newborn stuff. I also need to figure out what model our crib is and see if it was recalled. I was in Babies R Us recently and I don't think I saw a single drop-side crib. I'll also be able to see how good of shape the stuff we had for DD is in and if there is anything that needs replacing.

And Friday night I noticed a rash on DD so I took her to Urgent Care (which was a waste of time and energy - they really need some pediatric people) and they just gave her a steroid thinking it was a contact type thing. Well it still wasn't gone today so I had my mom take her to her pediatrician and he thinks it's Fifths Disease....which from my research I totally think he is right. Thank goodness I'm as far along as I am so it isn't as big of a concern. I will still tell my OB about it on Thursday and probably ask that they run the test to see if I have immunity although the risk at this point is pretty low. My only concern is the incubation period can be pretty long so I'd rather know that everything is okay.

The next few days cannot pass quickly enough. I am so excited to find out if this is a boy or girl

I have got to get on my horse here at work too. I have been pretty worthless since my miscarriage last year between the grief that followed that and then TTC again. I have got to get ready for my leave of absence. My timing really stinks too because I do benefits and as hard as I'm going to try I don't think we will have our insurance renewals in time for me to get open enrollment done before I go out so I might be coming to work during my leave to do that. I can probably work something out with my boss though to work through my leave as necessary and just take longer and probably be able to bring baby with me some.

Sorry about the novel....just actually had a few minutes and thought I would try and get caught up.

That sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions, probably resulting from the stress/fear. They're pretty common and not much too worry about, as long as there is no pattern to them. Scary situation - I've never seen a bear anywhere but the zoo before!

Woo-hoo for finding out the gender! I hope the little one cooperates!

As for Urgent Care, I've had a couple of useless experiences there myself, so I don't think highly of them either. We have a couple of pediatric Urgent Cares in our area that are run by the children's hospital, so I'm thinking they might be better. It could be worth looking into if there are any in your area. Luckily our pediatrician has night and weekend hours, so we've never had to use it.

I hope your DD recovers quickly and you have immunity!

Glad she is still a she!

That stinks about the name. Did you find out for sure?

I know how you feel. Both of my favorite boy names were taken by friends & family. I have no idea what we are going to name this baby.

We did find out! She named him Axl which is not what we were going to use. Obviously. :rotfl: So our top pick is a keeper. Now trying to pick a middle name is tough. We want something with meaning to us, not just something that flows well.

I feel ya. I did find lots of names on that parentsconnect website. Have you looked there?

Yikes! I think it's normal, especially since it went away. Probably some natural response to protect the belly in times of stress? I haven't been too stressed this pregnancy, but I sometimes will get one long BH after sex. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Congratulations.

And in case you need someone to talk to, I pumped exclusively for nine months with my first. I won't go into all the details here, but if you want some advice, shoulder to cry on, experience, or just someone to vent to, feel free to PM me anytime!

Thank you so much for that kind offer! I think things are going pretty well, though I don't know if the amount I produce is normal or low. About a quarter of what she eats comes from breastmilk, though I haven't pumped as often as I probably should. I think if I did it every couple hours I'd still just be making about half what she needs, but my output might increase if I did it more frequently too. Anyway, I'll always welcome advice. I hope things are going well for your family.

Harper seems to be doing great! She's a very happy baby. We have her next ped appt tomorrow morning. She's already getting too big too fast for me, at 11 days old. :)

I can tell you from my experience, the more you pump, the more you'll produce, and it's really up to you and what you're comfortable with and what fits into your schedule. Being a first time mom during that whole experience, I was probably a little too stressed about the whole thing, but I did keep a journal of it, so if you want any more detailed info, I'm happy to help. I'm very lucky in that the nurse at my pediatrician's office is also a certified lactation consultant, so she was awesome in helping me with how to organize the pumping, how often, etc.

Hey ladies....not much new going on here. We are starting to work on the baby's room (actually both kids will share for a bit so we are re-arranging). I am feeling really uncomfortable and I don't remember being like this when I was pregnant with DD. Less than 10 weeks to go though!!!

I hear you on the rearranging. We're putting the crib in our room for now, so that involved a lot of furniture moving, and eventually the baby and my older son will share a room, so we'll be reorganizing then as well.

 for feeling uncomfortable!

IIR, at this point you should be able to pump more then she needs. I remember getting about 14oz of BM the first time I pumped.

The thing I learned about BFing is that the first week is crucial in establishing your supply. If you don't stimulate it enough, your body won't make as much. You need to be pumping at least every 3-4 hours (some say every 2-3) and once at night. Here is a great article from Kelly Mom.

There are several ways to stimulate your breasts to get more milk: Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle to name a few. One or more may work for you. GL - you are doing a great thing for your baby!

kpm, I am getting more uncomfortable too. It seems earlier than with DD#1. Maybe its because I got big quick. I hope that part slows down. :rotfl:
