Update on me: I'm currently writing this from recovery at the hospital. Evan was born by what ended up being an Emergency C-Section on 11/19/09 and his time of birth was 11:19 pm weighing in at 9lbs and 1 oz. He is absolutely perfect and we could not be more happy with our little boy. I ended up being induced on my due date 11/18 and labored from 11:35 am on the 18th until they took me for the c-section at 11:00 pm on the 19th. I'll try to check back later...Hope all the mommy's and babies are doing well!

Congrats on baby Evan - what a big boy!! Glad to hear all is well, even though you ended up with the emergency C. . . as long as you are both ok, that is what matters most!

So......is anyone going to be crazy like me and be out shopping on Friday?? It is tradition every year for my sister and I. I figure if I can go hard through the first few stores, I will be okay for when we get to the mall, and should be able to find a place to sit if I need to. Needless to say, I will be attempting to get to be by about 7 on Thanksgiving night, since I will be up no later than 2:00 a.m. on Friday!

Kristen - Congrats on Evan's arrival! Sorry to hear about the long labor though, that could not have been fun at all. I hope your recovery is going well and that we get to see some photos soon!

Tigger - I will be going to the mall Friday, but only because I want to get my kids Christmas photos taken at a studio near my mom's house. We don't have that chain here in DC (Flash!) and I have no idea what time we'll finally get in on Wednesday so Friday it is. Other than that, I think any shopping I do will be online. As I have said, I'm hoping we're moving across the country in the summer so I don't want a ton of large junk to have to move, so this year's Christmas will be downsized from the norm.

So I was supposed to get an ultrasound today for growth and cervical length, but I got a call Friday at almost 5pm that it was cancelled and rescheduled for 12/1. That would normally be fine, but my OB appt is tomorrow afternoon and he said the ultrasound should be done before that appt, plus no way would he consider clearing me to fly on 12/5 if he didn't have the ultrasound results. Technically, I could get the 12/1 ultrasound and ask him after that, but it would not be feasible price-wise to buy a flight 3 days out. Even now it is pushing it.

Anyway, so I call at 9am today to tell them 12/1 does not work and the receptionist had to ask the nurse manager what to do. So I get a call back that if I can come in tomorrow at 7:50am then they can do the ultrasound then. Fun times. Now, I am up long before that because of my son (who got up today about 5:30am!! and I am so NOT a morning person), but that is so inconvenient for me cause the kids have to be in school at 8:30am. I *think* my husband is home till 11am tomorrow though, so he can stay home with them and take them to school. Of course, the only reason he gets to stay home till 11am is that he'll be working very late tonight so I'm sure he'll be thrilled with tomorrow's plan, but oh well.

justthat - I am glad they could squeeze you in though. My next OB appointment is at 7:15AM on Wednesday, 30 minutes from here!! Ouch ... I don't do before 8AM well these days. I can't seem to fall asleep before 11pm. Good Luck with Arizona ... Moving it such a stress but also so much fun too!!

Not much up here ... I feel like I am so far behind you guys, it's tough to stay into this thread because I am just in wait and see mode! My BFF from high school had her second baby girl a week and half ago. Didn't tell me until this past Friday, a week ago. I guess that's what happens with old friendships huh? I would have gone to visit or something if I had known ... oh well.

I am getting a second Level 2 U/S tomorrow because my new OB did not think my old OB did a good enough job! I am excited because DH did not get to see the other one and I didn't get a good enough pee-pee shot!! I still hold a .01% of hope it's a girl!!! HA ... I asked my MIL two weeks ago when I got the appointment scheduled if she could come watch DS for an hour so that DH and I could go without having to chase him around. She said either she or my BIL would be there. So yesterday, after I have asked DH to confirm with her a bunch of times, she calls and says that she can come but has to work at 1pm, an hour and 15 minutes away. The appointment is at 10:45AM and they say it will be 45 minutes ... that is barely a logical timeframe even if she watches DS at the Dr. office or the local mall instead of our house! I also don't want her driving him in her car which is a whole other issue to cover ... FRUSTRATED. My mom offered to drive up tonight and stay the night and watch him in the AM if my MIL couldn't do it but now it's too short of a notice for her to do that. How annoying ... that's why I asked two weeks ago. It's just further proof of my feelings that DS is an accessory and something she can brag to her friends about but not much more than that .... I know she can change her work dates, which she told me two weeks ago when I asked, but I understand she might not be able to this week due to Thanksgiving ... but WHY wait until the night before to tell me. I can tell this is going to be an issue I need to work through now that we live closer (we have always lived 1000+ miles away!) We have invited her up various Sunday's and she tells us she will call back later on Saturday to let us know because she needs to check my BIL (her 24 year old son) schedule since he doesn't have a car and she drives him to and from work. Well, the last two times DH has had to track her down on Sunday AM to find out what she is doing. Once I answered when she called back and we had had a rough night with DS the night before, she asked what we were doing that day and I said not much, taking it easy because DS was off from the night before ... she said ... well if you are busy then I guess I won't come up. The way she said made me feel like I was 'uninviting her'. Annoying .. Dh said she was wierd to him on the phone later that night. Argh ... I didn't mean for this to turn into a MIL vent. Oops! I have always had a great relationship with her but I can tell being closer now is going to have it's own challenges!!!

I started painting our family room ... the color is Promanade Green from Behr. It's too something though ... I don't know if I like it. I wanted a light green because our family room has a huge bay window on one end and a large sunroom type area on the back end so there is a lot of light. I thought it would be pretty to pull in some light green from the outside in here. It was painted light blue but that just doesn't work for a family room for me ... I'll have to see what it's like with the whole room done I guess. Maybe because it's cloudy it looks darker to me ....

Kristen - Congratulations!!!! Hope you are feeling well and can't wait to see pictures!

We went yesterday to order our crib and dresser. They ended up having both in stock! yay!! We are finishing up the room this week so will be picking up the furniture this weekend. I can't wait to start organizing everything!

DMickey - In the event no one will watch your son, I say wake him up early, get him outside playing, then maybe you'll be lucky and he'll either nap or at least sit in his stroller during your ultrasound. I brought my kids alone to my 1st one this time and just had my son belted into the stroller (normally he just sits, no belt, but I knew he'd get out when I was on that table) and it was okay. Not ideal of course, but okay enough. Did not do that with my daughter when I had a 35 week ultrasound with my son and she spent the entire time (which was about an hour) walking around the room, emptying the contents of my purse, generally being a nuisance. Very frustrating.

But the MIL bailing thing would really annoy me after awhile. I think I'd just stop asking her and leave things up to her from now on. It will save you the grief of making plans that she may or may not end up attending.

And your 7:15am appt would kill me. I purposely make mine for when my kids are in school, so anything before 8:30am does not work well for me. Just so much easier to go alone. Of course, my appt with my OB tomorrow is at 2:45, which is my daughter's dismissal time, so I can either get her early, or leave her to stay late in the after school program. Not sure which option is better. It's $30 for the ASP, which would be okay, except she has a swim class at 4:30pm so she'd only be there an hour and $30 is pretty steep for an hour!

DMickey, I held out hope like you when I had my second ultrasound, that they were wrong, and we were having a girl. The tech put the wand on my belly, and the first thing she saw was Elliott, legs spread WIDE open. Yup...still a boy!!

I blame the pregnancy fatigue coupled with my son waking me up freakishly early today!


Tigger and Mickey - I was the same way with my first, but I was actually hoping for a boy and she was a girl! The 1st ultrasound they were "80%" sure she was a girl. So I held out and on the 2nd one, she was still a girl. I was pretty much convinced at that point, but still had a slight doubt right up until she was born.

And in case anyone is wondering about my preference, my mom strongly favors girls over boys. My 1st was her first grandchild, so I thought if it were a boy, she'd sort of be forced to like him a lot since he'd be the only grandchild. And honestly, she likes my son, but way prefers my daughter. Granted, he is wild and much harder to watch than she is, but I know if he had been 1st she'd tolerate him better.

We got the crib and 6 drawer dresser in Espresso. I got a different changing table from Target (on clearance - yay!) but in the Espresso as well

The crib and glider are espresso, but the changing table is white. It may end up downstairs, but if it's upstairs I'll just paint it (read: I'll make DH paint it). I still need some kind of dresser, but the ones I've looked at so far have horrible reviews.

I'm undecided on shopping Friday. We were supposed to be in Kansas City to see DH's grandparents, but had to go 2 weeks ago because his grandfather passed away. Now we're staying home because I refuse to sit in a car again this quick and I normally always go shopping. Are there any good baby deals to be had? Especially for those of us who are still waiting to find out what we're having?

Our ultrasound is next Thursday! Can't wait!

We got it at Buy Buy Baby. I ended up getting a 20% coupon in the mail which helped a ton!

I love Buy Buy Baby and also have a coupon for there, which I plan to use on a new playmat since I can't find my old one. I don't get why those things are like $70.

I went for my ultrasound this morning, and it was mildly disappointing. First of all, the tech got in late, so I wasn't seen till about 20 minutes after my actual appt time, and as she's taking me in she said "cervical length, right?" So I said "Yes, that and fetal growth. Primarily growth with this one, as I had one only for cervical length 6 weeks ago." The tech said "Growth? They only have you down for cervical length and only gave you a 10 minute appt slot." Lovely. So she did it, but rushed like heck (in part cause she was late I am sure). She said my cervix looked good, close to 4cm. It was 4.5cm 6 weeks ago, but I guess that as you get closer it's normal to get shortening? I'll be asking my OB today. And as far as growth goes, she said "Size looks great, right on target, 32 weeks." Except I am 29 weeks. The EDD said 1/24, my EDD based on LMP is 2/6. Now I expect this to be another large-ish baby, but it seemed like she had no idea how far along I was supposed to be compared to how big the baby was. She also said she looked like she was short. Given my others were 21 inches at 36 and 38 weeks, I question that part of the measurement. Just seems unlikely that this one would be particularly shorter than the other 2, but who knows. I think had she spent mroe than 10 minutes it would have been more accurate, but whatever, I guess it doesn't matter all that much.

I have my OB appt at 2:45 and have decided to leave my kids in the after school program rather than take them along so I have the afternoon to myself. Unfortunately that will likely mean me cleaning my house and packing for our drive to NJ tomorrow.

My OB visit went well today and he said he thinks I'm good to fly to Arizona on the 5th, so I am pretty happy. Not only will this be very nice to be able to see the area I could be moving to next summer, but it will be the only time I've ever been without my kids (other than when they are in school). That probably sounds mean, but let me tell how how appealing the thought of waking up when I want to is right now. And being able to look at houses without them running wild (which is what happened when we last looked when we were in Phoenix last January), not having to factor in meal and bedtimes, etc. And I get to a kid free dinner!

The best part about it is that my kids are so excited to spend 3 days with my mom. When my husband told them he was going to Arizona my daughter was so upset that she had to stay home. She loved Arizona when we were there in January, knows we want to move there, and was not happy to have to stay behind in gray, rainy DC while Daddy got to be in warm sun. Then I told her that if I go too, my mom will be staying with her (and her brother) and suddenly her thoughts changed and she was practically packing our bags for us! My mom, otoh, is likely not as excited about the plan, but she's willing to do it so that works well enough. Luckily for her the kids don't have any activities during that time, so she just has to take them to school and back home.

Doctor appointment for me today. Third appointment in three weeks!! Then I am going home and going to try and put my house back together. I got new carpet a week and a half ago in my bedroom and family room, and I still have so much stuff to put back!! Plus, my dad is coming over to help me get all my Christmas decorations out, so I can start putting them up this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had a nice day overall, though I didn't eat much yet still feel pretty crappy. I so wish I would get past the sickness, but at 30 weeks, I really don't think that will happen. I just realized about a week ago that it must be from these weekly hormone injections cause even though I don't have the intense nausea and vomiting I had till 17 weeks or so, I still do not feel right each day. Oh well, likely only 7 more weeks to go!

Well, I made it through Black Friday much longer than I thought I would!! I was up about quarter to 2, we were in line at our first store at 3:10 am. Finally got back home about quarter after 2 this afternoon!!. Debated taking a nap, but right now I am just trying to stay awake, and just go to bed early tonight. And, as a bonus, I scheduled myself for a prenatal massage tomorrow!! I can't wait!!!
