Help me choose a restaurant for my mom's birthday!
She will be taking her first ever solo trip in May for her 66th birthday. I'm helping her plan the trip, but would like to book something special for her outside of the parks and I'll send a gift card with her to pay. Staying at Port Orleans Riverside. She is not at all an adventurous eater, but likes to try new restaurants at Disney.
What are the best (semi-affordable) restaurants at the resorts or Disney Springs?

Disney Springs is a good location because she can take the boat. I enjoy the Boathouse, you can reserve there on Open Table now for May. I like Raglan Road also, tends to be Irish themed food, has the dancing performances.

That's the same one I was going to suggest. I hope she enjoys her trip. I stayed at PO Riverside for all my solo trips pre-DVC, and I loved it.

I went solo for my 50th birthday and stayed at French Quarter..took the boat to Springs and went to Wine Bar George. Stumbled back on the last boat. Had a great time.

Used points accumulated from my Chase Disney card and the balance flowed as fast as the wine.

I’m not much use for restaurant recommendations, but you could also surprise her with a little cake delivered during one of her meals. Check out this thread for details. I got one for myself on my solo birthday trip in 2021 and it was very tasty, and I had leftovers to keep the celebration going.

They can theme them to almost anything. I chose Maleficent 😋

My first thought was take the boat to Disney Springs, cocktails or wine at Wine Bar George (big fan of the Frozcato), a meal at Homecomin', and dessert from Amorette's.

Wow, that’s awesome ! I wouldn’t be celebrating anything, but I sure would love one of those cakes!

Did it taste a lot like whiskey? It looks so good, but I don’t like whiskey...at all.

Thanks !
I HATE whiskey. I didn't taste any in it. It was just a rich, decadent chocolate cake. Sorry, have to wipe the drool coming out of the side of my mouth.

If she might be in Magic Kingdom - how about booking her for Be Our Guest ? I went there solo and felt quite comfortable with the music and ambiance. Two glasses of wine probably helped lol.

Yum!!! I plan to go twice, lol - once for lunch and once for dinner. Just to be good, I might get the ambrosia to eat there, and take the cake back to the hotel 🤤🤤🤤
