Moms Panel Results!?

One of the best things to do to "slow things down" is to notice the details -- those fabulous, imaginative, humorous details that Disney's Imagineers do better than anyone in the industry!

The Darling Family growth chart on the wall in Tinker Bell's Treasures. Even Nana is represented!!

Willy the Giant (from Mickey and the Beanstalk) lifting the roof of Sir Mickey's to check out the store.

The "hidden Tinker Bell" in the rocks at the lower exit of BTMRR.

The bear skins on The Country Bears building.

The talking trashcans

The decorative crows that you can find *everywhere* in the parks.

The little inside jokes that the ride/attraction designers put in to honor their friends, heroes, and mentors. Love that stuff!! I seriously spend a great deal of my time just looking for these things. It's not unusual for me to suddenly burst out laughing because I notice something. I point them out to Cast Members who never even noticed them!!

My kids have actually really started noticing the details lately. That is a fun thing for them to discover.

For us, the time to small the flowers is when we walk places. Like the path from Epcot to MGM.

We also let the little one walk alot and her meandering ways help all of us slow down.

We love doing treasure hunts and hidden Mickey hunts too! :)

Well pretty soon you all will know if you made it. What an exciting time! I want to thank so many of you for sharing your excitement with us!:goodvibes :cool1:

I have a silly question not really worthy of a question of the day but....:cloud9: when you are on vacation at Disney where do you go and what do you do to just slow things down and smell the :rose:?:hippie: :coffee:

First, a HUGE "thank you" for sticking with us, and keeping track of all the participants. Very nice of you.

Regarding your question, which IS a good one by the way:

One of our favorite "slow down" things to do is feeding the ducks. I know we can do that anywhere, but for some reason it just feels special doing it at WDW. :goodvibes I think it also creates a nice connection for the kids between the real world (nature and all) and the magic of Disney.:wizard:

This is definately NOT a silly question! Most people spend so much time running in WDW that they miss all those details that truly make it special! I love to walk around the resorts. Especially at night. It is so peaceful and beautiful, the lighting effects create the most spectacular ambiance and even when Disney is filled to capacity, you can still feel like the night fell just for you....

Oh I can't wait to go back!

Hello everyone!

Are all the finalists on pins and needles? Oh my gosh, I would be! Please let us know and good luck to all of you!

I was just working the polls for a friend that is running for school board. I was working with the mother-in-law and the conversation ended up at Disney!
She is retired and works 4 months out of the year for the Wide World of Sports and loves it! I was telling her about all of this. She said what a wonderful company it is to work for! OH...I wish!

What a wonderful opportunity you finalists have in front of you! I hope I don't have to wait for my retirement! HA HA!

Take care all of you and my thoughts are with you all during this amazing experience. It has been a fun journey. :cheer2: :hourglass

To all of you that have Disney trips ahead of you...ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY!

Thanks as well to the support for us 2nd rounders. You deserve thanks as well! :thumbsup2

We just take some time and enjoy the resort we are staying at. Swimming, relaxing and taking in things the resort has to offer! Sometimes things get so busy that people don't even notice the resorts! We like to walk around the resort and enjoy the surroundings, duck ponds, playgrounds, etc. The resorts are so beautiful and have a lot of things to offer! We enjoy taking in all the nature and beautiful scenery and listening to our kids notice the landscaping, birds, lizards (ha ha!), etc.

I do not know about ALL of the finalists...but it has been over a week since my interview, and immediately after it I was sitting around on pins and needles, but the more I have talked about it with a lot of new friends, the more I realize it would be great, but why worry...it is out of my hands. So...will I be nervous tomorrow? Yes, probably...but when the call comes, it will be just good to know one way or another.

I do have a trip planned for January, so whatever happens I know it will not be long before I am loving the WDW life again.

As usual, JoRy says it best! :thumbsup2

Thank goodness for therapy!

Continued luck everyone! Diane pixiedust:

Hi all.
I'm waiting and wishing for Wednesday to be...OVER! :rotfl:

Actually this has been such an incredible journey that I'm not sure I want the excitement and anticipation to be done, especially if I don't make it.

But I am honored to be among the 26 and it's been a dream come true!

I'm trying to keep busy getting some holiday shopping done. My in-laws are visiting this weekend for our early Thanksgiving Dinner so I got all the shopping done for that and I'll start cooking/baking on Friday. We will be on an airplane to California on Thanksgiving!

I can't believe our trip to DL is just around the corner. We've been anticipating it for so long. It will be our son's first time flying too. I'm really excited to be in Walt's Park and share it with our son. My husband can't wait to go on Indiana Jones. And he's a big Walt fan too so he'll be very emotional arriving to DL. I'm lucky that my hubby gets the magic!

I'm rambling now. I'm just so excited and nervous again.

Everyone here has been a huge support! And Finalists...I'm honored to have been along with you on this amazing, magical journey! :wizard:

Okay guys, you really want to know what I do to slow down? EAT:lmao: I think everytime we go our family makes it a goal to eat something from every country in World Showcase. Our kids even enjoy it now. One of our best memories was when our daughter Clare, was 3 and she told our waiter in France that we was cute. After that I think we had every waiter come by our table and talk to her. We snack and make it a habit not to eat on the run. Instead we find a quite place to sit and we enjoy whatever it is we are eating. I figure I walk enough while we are there so I can eat what I want for a few days.
Julie

I'll be watching tomorrow guys, so let me know as soon as you hear something. Maybe we'll even see you guys on Good Morning America or something. NO PRESSURE!!!!!! LOL

Tabitha - I am very sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

The question of the day...if we're looking to take it slow somewhere, we try to pick a different location each time and just sightsee. Be it a park or resort, we look for all of the little details that you might not notice if you just raced from ride to ride. Even a trip on the monorail is a great adventure for us! We also try to chat with the CMs (who have the time). They are so nice, and so full of information. CMs add a lot to our enjoyment of WDW, and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find employees at another 'amusement park' (which we all know Disney really isn't ;) ) who are as great as Disney's. :goodvibes

When I want to stop and smell the roses, I really do stop and smell the roses. I'm not much of a gardener, so I very much appreciate all the work that the groundskeepers at WDW to make the place look so beautiful. I only went to WDW once as a child and one of my biggest memories of that trip was seeing the giant topiaries. I couldn't believe that plants could do that.

I've been having computer issues today, so I'm sorry that I haven't posted earlier. I really feel like part of a family here. :grouphug: You have all been amazing, fabulous, wonderful supporters. I was an emotional disaster last week right after the interview, but I'm much calmer now. Whatever happens will happen for a reason. And I know that the Panel will be in great hands with whomever they choose.

Best of luck to all tomorrow:grouphug: Sleep well and sweet dreams.

Ok, I feel as if I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life (maybe that's a bit extreme) but I think I've made a big mistake.

I was on Disney's website planning our December trip and saw the "Mom's Panel" advertisement and didn't submit an application.
I plan trips for family members to perfect strangers. There is not one person on this earth that has more passion for Disney than I.
I even told my husband that I wanted to be buried at Disney or have my ashes scattered in the 7 seas lagoon.
I've been reading the post here and feel so empty and so down that I didn't apply.
I know it may sound silly but it's the closest thing I'll get to working at Disney until we can move down to Orlando.
I can't explain how I feel but know that my fellow DISer's will understand.
I feel as though I didn't make the team and the craziest thing is I didn't even try. I suppose I felt that I couldn't possibly share my passion for Disney in 100 words or less.
I'm bummed! We're going to be at WDW 12/8 through 12/14 and I'm going to be constantly thinking of the "Mom's Panel" being there training.
Help me get out of this rut and not be so down about this!
Congratulations to all who have made it and to those who just simply applied!
:sad2:

I think you need to take a long walk or take some "me" time to put what you said in perspective. It sounds like there's something more going on if a Mom's Panel truly has you feeling this way.

Well why don't you give it a "virtual" try? We'd love to read what you might have written.

Regarding not applying, I wouldn't get too down about it. So many of the people that applied were very qualified, wrote wonderful essays, and still didn't get to the second round. There was definitely some luck and random pixie dust involved in this process! Besides, who knows what will happen with the panel in the future. Maybe in 6 months or a year they will do the whole contest over again?!:confused3 :)

I can feel your passion for WDW. Enjoy your trip!

Don't worry about missing out on the Panel. Magic is around every corner and you'll find it!

:sad2:

What I'm hearing from your post is that you're feeling lots of regret for not trying. I agree with Bret's suggestion that you start over and "apply" right here. Write your answers to the essay questions (in 100 words or less), and post them here. I can almost guarantee you that the Disney Mom's Panel folks are reading this thread, and they'll see your passion for Disney. And, as someone else said, the panel is on a 6-month "contract"... if one or more decide to pursue other things, they may hold another contest for the next 6 months, and you'll already be prepared for it when it comes. I think this panel is going to really take off, and there will be more opportunities to come (either on the panel, or something related to their online community), so don't count yourself out yet.

Well, we are down to the final hours now....just wanted to thank everyone for the support they have provided the finalists over the last week...it's been much appreciated!

I look forward to hearing everyone's results later today. Our day is finally here!

Continued luck everyone!

Diane pixiedust:

Morning all!

Thank you all for your support and kindness and I hope you all have a fantastic day. For the rest of you finalists out there, make sure your cell phone is charged! :) ;)
