Moms Panel Results!?

OK, I have some catching up to do. Now are the rules still to keep this to 100 words or less?:lmao:

-Bret

That was a laugh out loud moment for me. I don't think the DIS has any word limit!!!! :thumbsup2

After the interviews today, I will post my "fondest memory" story for you. The full version...it must be 2000 words. Chopping that down to 100 for round 2 questions was a CHALLENGE! The moment still brings tears to my eyes!

#1 - August 26 through Sept 1, 2007

#2 - Hopefully with the finalists on Dec. 8th :) Thinking positive thoughts :)

Good luck to all interviewees today!!!! Can't STAND WAITING until next week :)!

Marleen

1) April, 2007
2) HOPEFULLY December 8th, 2007 with the rest of the panel winners!!!

This one was a huge laugh for me. Helped ease the tension a bit.

1. Last trip was Feb 2007 with the family. But I went ALONE in Jan 2007. I had been in Mommy overload for a while with some kid-related health issues (they're all totally fine now) and really needed a break. So DH suggested that I go on a little getaway by myself somewhere to recharge the batteries. And where else would I go but WDW? I stayed at BCV. I used the gym, swam, got a manicure, and read an entire novel in one sitting. I sat it the little garden across from the Rose and Crown at Epcot and did crossword puzzles while eating fish and chips. And I made it my mission to experience the very few attractions at WDW that I hadn't in my many previous trips. There were 1 or 2 things in each park that for various reasons we just never got to do. So now I can honestly say that I have done EVERY ride in the 4 parks.
2. I have two trips booked now. Again, one in Feb 2008 with the family, and by myself again in Jan 2008, because it was such an amazing experience.

I love RatBoy's discussion topic suggestion. I'm going to have to think about it for a bit and get back to you.

I know, when I read your post I thought "I wonder if we saw each other there and didn't know it!" But what with the 50,000 people there... I'm so silly, I always expect to run into people like it's a small-town Wal-Mart! :rotfl:

Bella- it's funny you say that because when I was a teenager we went to WDW in August every year and just about every trip we would run into someone we knew. It was most likely that time of year, you know getting the trip in during value season just before school started.

Now the questions-
1. My last trip was in May 2007. I went with my kids, my parents, my sister, her fiance, and the fiance's niece. It was not a great trip. My DH could not go because of work and we weren't sure when he would be able to so I tagged along with my family. Well let's just say our touring and planning styles are really different. I also had a hard time with the kids alone (mostly my dd who was 19 months) and they weren't very helpful (actually made things worse at times). The kids also started missing DH at the end. So I have decide never again without DH or at least until my kids are much older. (Well that's more than 100 words;) )

2. Luckily dh is able to take time off in December. So we are surprising our kids with a pre-Christmas trip on 12/14-12/24. Originally we were going for Christmas but decided we might miss Christmas at home. I am so excited. We are going to tell the kids Thanksgiving weekend (cuz I can't keep it from my ds until then, it's too hard). The trip is a gift from us and Santa, so Santa is sending a very special package early. We have lots of character meals planned for the kids. The one I am most excited about is breakfast at CRT. I can't wait to see my dd's face light up when we go in the castle and eat with the princesses. My dd is a total princess fan and a very girly girl (loves jewelry, dress up, pretty hair...). I'm so excited I could go on all day.:)

Sorry guys, I have been out of the loop. My kids have had their school plays so I have been watching those and today they had Mass (so I was the good parent and went with them).

1)Our last trip was in January @ WL with my parents and twin sisters family. I must say this is our favorite time of year to go. Except for our trip three years ago when a cold front blew in and it was in the 30's and 40's. You see I'm from Texas so we freak out when it is in the 50's (by the time it's in the 30's people are paniced and calling off school. HA HA!!)

2) We are leaving on the 28th of this month for our first trip to DL/DCA. We are staying at the PP. I think we will miss Karen by about a week. That stinks!

Over the years, I've actually run into a few dozen people at WDW -- acquaintences from college, former coworkers, etc. The funniest story was about three years ago we were at the WL and DH had called for a cab to take us to a restaurant at another resort. The cab was late, DH was getting into quite the mood about this. I was occupied with trying to keep my girls busy during the wait. Finally the cab comes and another family tries to get into it. The dad from the other family thinks the cab is the one he called for. The men were getting very type-A alpha male about the whole thing, voices were starting to rise, when the other mom and I get a look at each other and see that we know each other. Our kids go to the same school and we were on a PTA committee together once. It ended up that both families were going in the same general direction, so the moms and kids took the cab. The dads followed behind later. I think they were suitably embarressed by their posturing.

How embarassing for the men!

My funniest running into someone story was in October at Animal Kingdom park. It had just started pouring outside so we ran for cover under a roof on the side of a shop, another family ran for cover too. It happened to be a family from our town that we know pretty well from Girl Scouts etc.

Shall we all sing along now..."It's a Small World after all..."

Too Funny!

I can say that out of all the times we have gone we've never seen anyone. We have met some really nice folks.

This has nothing to do with this post, but yesterday my kids were given some of the best candy and I can't find it. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some more. They are the little Jolly Rancher candies except they have this sour stuff inside. :thumbsup2 I have searched and raided their bags, but I need more. You see I don't do chocolate, but these:love: I have got to find these.

I am laughing so hard right now because I had one of those last night and they were so awesome! We actually bought a mixed bag of candy and they were in the bag. I don't have the bag anymore, if I dig it out of the garbage, I will re-post! The bag was a combo of twizzlers, lolly-pops and these little candies. :rotfl2:

I always wish I saw someone famous at Disney! Did see one of my bffs from elem. school. We knew we were both going to be there but didn't plan to meet because of logistics, families, etc. But we ran into each at Pirates!

Answers to the questions of the day:

1. Most recent trip: DD3 had never been to WDW before and I knew if she went with her brothers she would be dragged all over the place and not get to do anything she really wanted. So, I broke down and did a father/daughter trip...I know, it was so hard to convince me to do it:lmao: :rotfl2: . Anyway...having two boys, I had never really experienced the whole princess quest, but as usual it was pretty amazing seeing my DD with all the princesses.

2. Next trip: Like Ratboy (Bret) I hope to be there the 8th of December...but then the reality of it sets in and I will be there in January. I have a conference I go to in Orlando every year and this year it is when the kiddos are still out of school, so off we go. I wonder how much of the conference I will make this year..."Hello, and Goodbye. Thanks for the conference goodie bag, now I am out of here to go to MK." We are staying at the BWV, and bringing a sitter...YES!!!!

And if my calculations are correct, shouldn't all the interviews be over by now?

I too had a Jolly Rancher moment yesterday. My DD came home from school with a Jolly Rancher stick that I swear I hadn't seen since the 70s. It was flat and about 6 inches long. It brought me right back to my trick-or-treating days. The candy you found seems to be called Jolly Rancher blast (if you go to candywarehouse.com and type in "Jolly Rancher" you'll find it). I've never had it, but it will now be my mission hunt it down.

1) our last trip was in October 2002. I know, long time since we have been there!!!

2) we are leaving on Nov 14th, in 13 days!!! Yeah!!! We are taking our daughter for the first time!

I'm answering an old question first:
I did see Rosemary Clooney at MGM when it first opened.
In 2001, I ran into a guy who used to come in every weekend to a restaurant I worked at to ask me out. He became a CM. If I'd known that was in his future I probably would have said yes:rotfl: !
Last year, we saw some people from our neighborhood~they were staying at the same resort!

Our last trip was May 2007:goodvibes . We took DD8 for her birthday~ Cinco de Mayo~so we stayed at CSR and had her birthday dinner at San Angel Inn!

Next we are going Dec 16-21 and staying for the first time at FWR. We may add a day or two at WL or the Poly! I love Christmas at WDW:santa: !!!!

That is so great that you did that. I think this next trip will be the last one that my ds will be willing to do the princesses with my dd. He is getting to that age where princesses aren't cool for boys.

Have a great trip, it will be fun for you to see her reactions.

Thanks for the candy tip guys, I will have to look online. I feel like an idiot asking about candy, but these are SOOOOO.... good. If you have not had one you MUST try them. (I can't be held responsible for any addictions that may occur as a result of my suggestion) Maybe those folks at Disney reading this can hook us up and have these avaliable at Goofy's Candy Co:banana:

Thanks, I logged on and you are right they have them:cool1: Guess what I'm asking SANTA for? (that is if I have enough hidden, highly unlikely) This is too cool!!! I have the biggest smile across my face right now, and all in the name of CANDY!
