Moms Panel Results!?

I made it! Yeah!

I'm so sorry for those who did not make it...we had so much fun today!

We still have a few DISers that need to check in.

Way to go, make us all proud. At least we know there is nothing secret about winning yet:yay:

I made it! Yeah!

Woo! Great news!!!!

Good luck on your interview - you want to share with the rest of us "not-winners" what your email said? We long to live vicariously through your celebration!!

Anyone going to posted what they wrote now that we didn't make it.

I'll be the first dope who does it. I think it will help me get over the obsession(not the Disney obsession, but the Moms Panel obsession!) Before you read them, know that I went round and round with myself trying to figure out if they were looking for obscure little oddities that I know about Disney. I finally thought it was better not get too insanely specific with my recommendations. Apparently, I thought wrong!

Round 2 Questions

1)In 100 words or less, please give us your best theme park and/or resort tip for a family planning a vacation at Walt Disney World® Resort.

Choose the resort that best fits your family's needs. If you plan to spend several days at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the Polynesian is the perfect fit for you! You can take the monorail or boat to MK, and stroll to the TTC for the Epcot monorail. If you enjoy access to nightlife, restaurants, and a spectacular pool, choose the Beach Club where you can hop on the Friendship boat and be in Epcot or MGM in a flash. If you want a resort that offers excitement and quick access to delicious food, while saving you money to spend on souvenirs, the Pop Century is just right!

2)In 100 words or less, please tell us your best memory of your most recent Walt Disney World vacation.

A moment from our most recent trip will always stand out as one of the most amazing since becoming a parent 13 years ago. While teeing-up for the third hole at Winter Summerland miniature golf, which we had never visited before, my daughter stopped and looked around at the Disney whimsy. She turned to me intently and, with a tear slipping from her eye, she said, "I get why you love it here so much, Mom. Thanks for bringing us to Disney again." Heart-felt gratitude expressed by a teenager? That could only happen at Disney.

3)In 100 words or less, please tell us what part of Walt Disney World® Resort you would most recommend a family visit and why.

While it seems cliche, I would be untrue to myself if I didn't recommend the Magic Kingdom. Here, parents can share their own childhood memories with their children: the familiar thrill of the ghost appearing in your doom buggy; the taste of a Mickey ice cream bar; the wonder of the dolls in It's a Small World. A young family can build new memories together battling Zurg on Buzz Lightyear and laughing uncontrollably at the Monsters Inc attraction. The joy of a family's past and future can be found at the Magic Kingdom. It should not be missed.

This will actually be our first time to DL. We will be there the 11/28-12/2. I was wondering how we were going to pull the kidos out of school is I won. First DL and 6 days later WDW, would have been crazy, but a good crazy.

You will love DL!! I went there for the first time 6 years ago because I had a use or lose airline credit so I decided to go to DL, always wanted to see Walt's park, where the magic began, etc. I really thought that it would be a go there once to say I was there type of thing, since it's smaller than WDW, but I fell in love with DL so now I like to alternate!

This is so poignant and well said. I would have picked you for sure!

Here are my responses for round 2. Needless to say they weren't good enough, but like I said it was fun while it lasted. Except now I'm in need of a deep tissue massage. So I may just take a trip to the spa:cloud9:

Remember Once Upon A Time? Time is the key to any Disney Vacation and your family’s time is precious. My number one theme park tip is plan ahead. Determine what it is you expect from that park and plan accordingly. Utilize Disney’s website to stay current on park hours, operational updates and much more. Research parade information, show times and make meal reservations prior to arriving at the park. Write this information in a notebook and each morning remove that day’s page and carry it with you to the park. Take your time and experience Disney.

Wow, I enjoyed so much. Even little things like having our luggage delivered by Disney’s Magical Express. However, something that stands out occurred one day in Toontown while having our childrens’ autograph books signed by the characters. Abruptly, Pop Pop told us we must go. I turned around and gathered our children to find a cast member, Kim, leading our family to Mickey. She escorted us right to him, closed the door behind her and began her introduction. We felt special all day, not to mention we got personal time with the boss man! Can’t beat that!

When most families imagine WDW they picture Magic Kingdom. I’m here to say Animal Kingdom is fantastic and not the average theme park. The live shows are phenomenal, the safari is out of this world, the shopping unique and there’s a ride for everyone. This park exudes a more relaxed pace and the minute you enter you feel as though you’ve traveled to another land. Whether it’s the thrill of Mt. Everest, the dinosaurs or the soaking you’ll get on Kali River Rapids, at the end of the day you’ll be glad you lived on the wild side.

Here's what I wrote

****

1) It sounds obvious, but do your research and have a detailed game plan, with a printed copy in your pocket. Note the park schedules, including the Extra Magic Hours, the FastPass attractions, the times of parades, shows, and your dining reservations. Once on property, you may have to “throw it out the window,” but you can relax and enjoy yourself, knowing that you have the information you need to think on your feet as plans change. For fifteen Disney vacations, this knowledge has helped us avoid frustrations while freeing us to find the magic just around the next corner.

2) For my 40th birthday surprise, my husband had our Grand Gathering stop at City Hall where a Cast Member led us to a special room. When I saw my beloved Minnie Mouse waiting for me in her sparkly, Year of a Million Dreams dress, I had my own Extreme Makeover: Home Edition moment, nearly collapsing and screaming myself hoarse. Minnie greeted my family warmly, flirted with my father, played with my nephew, and posed for pictures. When the Cast Member asked if I enjoyed myself, I told her that, hands down, this was the single best moment of my life.

3) It’s not a literal place that I’d recommend they visit, but rather that they find the secret, joyful spot in their heart that Disney’s magic can open for them. They should make sure they watch their family’s faces on Kali River Rapids; listen to their husband laugh during Mickey’s PhilharMagic; taste the saffron in the couscous in Morocco; smell the cookies outside the Main Street Bakery, and feel the warmth of their children’s hands as they marvel at the spectacle of Fantasmic! Tapping into the Disney magic makes for vacation moments that will stay in their family’s heart forever.

Ibelieveinfaries didn't check in yet. She is at her daughter's vocal performance. Maybe she made it! I hope she did!

l'm keeping a list of those who did and did not make it. Like a said we are headed out for a much needed dinner and break from the computer, I will check back in later and update my list. I will definitely keep ya'll posted. We must continue this on another thread later.

I didn't make it to the next round. Thank you for your good wishes. Good luck to all who are moving on! I know you'll be great! Congratulations!

It's just as well, I'm a teacher who only gets two personal days a school year. We already have a trip planned for May 2008. I was wondering how I'd manage to swing it if it did work out.

As for my answers, I wrote them rather quickly because my almost three year old was grabbing onto my leg at the time. Here's a brief summary: For the first one I wrote something to the effect of deciding what kind of visitor you are. Are you a commando ultra planner or more laid back? If you are a super organized planner, read, talk to others, and scour the internet. If you're more laid back, choose those few things you'd like to do and make plans for them. Just enjoy the ride.

As for the second answer, I wrote that my favorite memories were of seeing my girls with the characters. Their eyes lit up when Cinderella talked with them. My oldest had perma grin after she finally was able to meet Sleeping Beauty on one of our last days.

For the last one, I chose the Magic Kingdom. There's something about actually seeing Cinderella castle in person. This park has something for everyone: shows and music for more experienced travelers, characters and rides for little ones, thrills and action for tweens and teens.

I didn't make it either. Oh well fun while it lasted. Good luck everyone.

Here it is...............................

1. If you are taking your kids out of school, make sure you plan a day to visit Epcot's World Showcase! As an educator, I know first hand, that teachers will appreciate the educational experience each country provides. The Showcase is filled with people, food, entertainment and customs from around the world. Even the youngest children will value the differences and recognize the similarities in each country. The World's Showcase is a global lesson on tolerance and understanding. Hey, not to mention it will make a great report for the teacher upon your child’s return to school!

2. Dont laugh.... but I won the 4th of July Fort Wilderness watermellon eating contest. It wasn't pretty, and I felt sick for a very long time afterward, but I won! I know for a fact, that my husband and children enjoyed it much more than I did. But it was worth it! The prize was a cruise to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks! It was an amazing experience. You know, we have watched Wishes a hundred times, but there is nothing more magical than watching it from the water while holding your family in your arms. It was one of the most memorable evenings in my life.

3. Hands down, everyone HAS to visit Fort Wilderness! It has so much to offer guests. Where can I begin? It has a petting zoo, horseback riding, hay rides, carriage rides, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, The Hoop-De-Doo Review, cane pole Fishing, and Segway tours. Where else can you roast smores, sing along at a campfire with the one and only "Sundee the entertainer," They have planned activities, a blacksmith shop, paddleboats, a movie every night, shuffleboard, Chip and Dale, and golf cart rentals so families can go "looping" through the campground. Gosh, there is so much more that I can’t even fit it in 100 words. Fort Wilderness is a place where families can spend quality "old fashion" time together.

Boo Who! I just got my email and I did not make it. :sad2: Oh well. Best of luck to those who made it! I can finally stop stalking my email and relax!

Michelle
