Moms Panel Results!?

I guess I am on the no response list either!! :confused3

No email saying Congratulations and no email saying NOPE sorry.

I thought I had a pretty unique story. but CONGRATUALTIONS to everyone else!!!! That's so EXCITING!!!!! :grouphug:

I'm very curious...

Are any of the winners DVC members???

It doesn't look like it to me... :confused3

-Michelle

Someone mentioned this on another thread to, and that does make me pause.

I agree and just posted on another thread that I think being a DVC member played a role in not being chosen. I have yet to see a DVC member who is moving forward. They might feel they want women who are going to promote staying at all WDW resorts and might feel DVC members can't do that? Who knows. I am a DVC member, mentioned it and didn't get picked.

Did anyone hear anything today? I check my mail furiously like every FIVE minutes!! :rotfl:

I hate waiting in suspense like this!! :headache:

Well...first... :cheer2: Congrats!!!!!!!! :cheer2: to all those who made it to the next round! I'm so happy so many DIS'ers made it!!!

Second, I received the "sorry" email, but am curious about this paragraph in it....
============================
Because of the incredible passion you and so many others have shown for Walt Disney World Resort®, we've been inspired to explore more concepts for programs -- beyond the Moms Panel -- to engage moms and dads like you who want to share their passion for the Parks. We plan to follow up with you in the near future with more details.
============================

Do we think this is just the standard "sorry" response that everyone got or do you think they will really "follow up in the near future" with some for other concepts? I mean the line....

"We plan to follow up with you in the near future
with more details."

makes it sound kind of definite that you will hear more and makes me want to hold on to a little hope of being included for something in the future, but I'm probably just grasping at straws? :confused3

I got accepted:banana:

saw the e-mail at 1am last night, haven't slept a wink.I can not believe it.Any idea how many made it to round 2.

Well, I just got my "not accepted at this time" email, but it made my day!! I thought I wasn't even going to get this response, so I'm elated. Good luck all you round 2 Disers!! Hope to see you on the panel in January...oh, and have fun this December. We'll be there the same week, so maybe we'll spy your group there!! Will you wear the LGMH???

I have a question...If we make it past round 2 and go to the training in Dec. Is that our free trip to Disney for us and 3 other guests?

I finally got my rejection email. It was sent to me on Friday the 19th @ 12:40 PM. I can finally forget about it! popcorn::

Oh, and I'm a DVC member. I noticed on the application rules it said something like you couldn't enter if you had a interest in Disney. I paused for a moment because of DVC and we have some stock. :confused3

As for Disney trip numbers, I'm over 50 - the majority being at WDW.

Good luck to those moving on! :wizard:

I just noticed that most of the Disers who have made it so far, don't have many posts. I wonder then what the attraction was to applying for an online Disney community when many of the 2nd rounders listed don't post much on here? Perhaps it was being an official Disney employee?

Just wondering, Tiger :)

I noticed that too, and one question I have is this (and I am NOT trying to take anyone's joy away from being selected), but it seems that there really aren't a lot of DVC or, in general, disboard-ers being selected for this, as also-there aren't a lot of people being chosen off the Mouse for Less Yahoo! Group list either.

Personally, I would like to know exactly what Disney was looking for. We take mutiple trips each year, I plan just about everyone ELSE'S trip, and keep a huge Secrets list on these boards.

I'm not trying to ring my own bell, my point is--if you are on these boards, then you are, IMHO, an above-average Disney fan.

No one posts on these boards unless they are interested in Disney and are constantly trying to learn more.

Out of 10,000 applicants are they picking average every-day families with little to no Disney knowledge, so they can train them? Or are they looking for seasoned pros like what appear on these boards?

Like I said, I am NOT trying to steal anyone's joy, and each Dis-er that makes the 2nd cut, should be SO PROUD OF THEMSELVES!

I would just like to know what "Amy, LeAnn, and Duncan" were looking for.....

OK, I got my reject email at 11:43am - at least I can stop obsessing about it now! :headache:

:cheer2: Good Luck to all of the DIS'ers going to Round 2!!! :cheer2:

Take care,
Michelle

I no longer have the information, but the impression I got from the rules was that it was not a free Disney vacation in the style any of us have known! Won't it be more like a training session and get-to-know your fellow Panel Moms and Dads (and the Disney CMs who are coordinating this)? I thought somewhere in the rules it said "you and a guest" - but I really don't remember for sure. I can't think of a training session that would be more fun than a WDW training! :)

And, for me, it doesn't matter anymore because I did get the "sorry" email.

Best of luck to all who were chosen for Round 2! :yay:

In my opinion, it is a standard follow up. The way I read it is that I am now on their mailing list so once they get this panel up and running with their own official Disney message boards they will follow up in the near future that the board is up and ask us to come join it.

What I honestly find the most ironic is that it was listed as a Mom's panel but it seems they picked lots of dads to go on to the next round. I feel a mix of opinions on a panel will be best but I am sure they will now have to change the name of the panel to Parent's panel or at least something other than mom's.

Well, I think we're over thinking the process here. Do we really think that those who had to look over the THOUSANDS of applicants had the time and resources to check all the Disney boards, reservation frequency, and DVC memberships? Having done this kind of thing before, I can wager that they were looking at the answers to the questions. What they were looking for - we can only guess.

The next round would be where I would assume they might check into the people a little deeper. Even though there were only three questions, sooner or later the phone interviews will determine who the finalists are - and even that is subjective. They have a benchmark of what kind of folks they’re looking for – and only they know that. All we can be is happy for those who were selected and sad for those who were not. Believe it or not, I've been on the losing side, too.

Like I said, I am NOT trying to steal anyone's joy (snip)

I would just like to know what "Amy, LeAnn, and Duncan" were looking for.....

I think this is my biggest beef. I had to stop reading other threads because all the acceptees, while rightfully joyous, their acceptance in the face of my rejection...let's just say "joyous" isn't how I would describe the situation at my house.

What EXACTLY were Amy, LeAnn and Duncan wanting here? I didn't once think that owning DVC would disqualify me, but now after reading this last page, I wonder if what I wrote didn't matter a lick because I mentioned I owned DVC...as kind of an afterthought...we loved Disney so much we ended up buying in, etc.

Personally, while they say they are going to look at other ventures, I'll believe it when I see it. I think that the rejection letter was made with as much saccharine as they thought we could stomach.

Off my soapbox...

I, for one, do not believe that there is a no response list. I just got my rejection and I was extremely under-qualified for the panel. Let me clarify; when I entered I did not believe that I was under-qualified, but after reading the posts of other entrants, I realized that, indeed, I was. I do not generally self-aggrandize--so I believe that Disney must misjudge a huge portion of its guests. To wit: a MOM's panel--when several of the DISboard 2nd tiers are men. And the enormous response to something that would clearly only appeal to someone who had a passion for WDW, trip planning, and time every week to devote to answering queries. I think that an every increasing number of guests are going to WDW prepared and informed. That is primarily due to those of you who are consistently on this and other boards helping people with specific questions that can't be answered in a guidebook or by Disney personnel. Having this panel available on the Disneyworld website will ensure that more guests will be better informed which can only translate into better vacations for all. (That's my wish anyway.) Good luck to all who are moving on!

No, I don't, and I never did. I'm sorry; I didn't mean to imply that.

What I meant was that--yes, they have in mind who/what they are looking for, and it seems that they are not basing it solely on who has the most knowledge.

...and YES, I realize low posters on this forum may be heavy posters on other Disney boards.

I was just saying that a lot of KNOWLEDGEABLE people (i.e., the person with 50 trips under their belt) were getting turned down.

So, naturally--that makes all of us curious as to what they were looking for.

There's no way to ever know that of course, but it does leave a certainly mystery in the air! :goodvibes

Add me to the list of haven't heard yet. I did this at work but I used my home email so I would think it would come to my home but otherwise I won't be back to work until monday. However I could get someone to check for me!!

I think a lot people feel this way. Again, not to ring anyone's own bells here, but A LOT of us have an IMMENSE amount of Disney knowledge, and I love the quote below because it points out something I never thought of....

I, for one, do not believe that there is a no response list. I just got my rejection and I was extremely under-qualified for the panel. Let me clarify; when I entered I did not believe that I was under-qualified, but after reading the posts of other entrants, I realized that, indeed, I was. ...you would have to LOVE Disney to want to give up your family time, etc. to sit on a board that will eventually take up MORE of your time. Time that is already at a premium in so many of our lives.

...AND...I seriously doubt (and I'd love to be happily wrong about this) they are keeping a list to e-mail us for later opportunities.....

Does that make sense?

I think a lot of people applied to this because it's (a) a Disney contest and (b) because it entails a free trip to Disney World.

With 10,000 applicants, they had to wade thru them pretty quickly, so yes, it is possible they may have misjudged. There is no way they can COMB over 10,000 entries. They have to just read and decide at this juncture.

When they get to phone interviews, which I am assuming they will eventually have, they will seperate the wheat from the shaft.

...and, as for the Dads point of view, I, too, have mixed feelings. There are A LOT (and I mean A LOT of awesome Dads on these boards), and they are as knowledgeable or even more so, than some of us Moms, but the opportunity was for MOMs, not Dads.

Not knocking ANYONE (i.e., singles, Dads, etc.), this was to be a MOMS panel, and by allowing Dads on the panel (please don't flame me), they changed the rules.

That is probably how they got to 5,000 so quick--more than just "Moms" were entering.

Personally, I don't care WHO (i.e., Moms, Dads, singles, etc.) they put on the panel, as long as they are TRULY Disney "fan-actics," not just people entering another contest.
