Mom's Panel Now Taking Apps

Hi Illinois women -- I am in Northbrook and after reading all of your posts, I just applied too. How fun!

I just applied. I made it to round 2 last year, but that was with only half the amount of applicants! We'll see what happens this year! :goodvibes

You did? How neat! Do you know how many rounds there are? What kind of tip did you use? The kind that the Average Joe non-Disney type of person needs? Or the specific, obscure tip that a Dis'er would truly appreciate?

I never got an email acknowledging receipt of my application -- for those of you who applied, how long did it take to get that?

Also, what is round 2? Longer essays?

THanks.

Lauren

I only took a couple of minutes to get confirmation.
If your not sure, try entering again, it'll tell you if you have entered already. If it doesn't, then you didn't enter.
I'd do it soon, I would like it will close soon.

Last year there were 3 rounds; the first was the general application that was 10,000 applications, the second round was 100 (this is the level I got to), and we had to answer 3 more questions, same format, 100 words or less, and the final round was 25 and this time they did phone interviews and from there picked the 12 panelists. Quite honestly I don't even really remember what I said in my first application last year, I did it in such a hurry because it was already a day or two into the contest and I was afraid they would close if I took too much time on it. I remember when I got the email that I made it on to round 2 I assumed that probably at least 1/4 of the applicants made it that far, I was very surprised to learn it was really only 1%!

Darn it. I applied for the Mom's panel and never got a confirmation email. So I went back to see if my application was accepted. It was. I then read over the rules - I haven't visited the parks in the last 12 months. Now what do I do?
Hopefully they will throw out my application. So Bummed! :scared:

The good news, now you all have a better shot with only 19,000 applications to compete with! LOL

I applied, hope I did good. It was very hard to use just 100 words. You know I could go on, and on, and on, and on....:rotfl: :dance3: :woohoo: :rolleyes1

I applied the first day it was open. I answered the questions and then I read over them again and again. I'd start to add something, but then delete it.

I looked at it for about 10 minutes and finally decided to keep my original answers. I figured that I answered that way for a reason and to not second-guess myself.

I guess we'll see if it works.

I'm really confused - I keep trying to apply, and I keep getting told that my Expertise was flagged for inappropiate content. Can anyone tell me what the heck they are talking about? Here is the text I'm trying to submit:

"My best tip is to be present in each Magical Moment. Enjoy all the little things - the fun theming of each magnificent resort, the taste of your very first Dole Whip, that special moment when your child catches their first glimpse of Mickey - these are treasured moments you'll carry with you forever! A trip to Walt Disney World Resort is a chance to leave cares at the gate, to share a Mickey bar, to watch a parade and ride in a spinning teacup - to make Magical Memories!"

Anyone see anything inappropriate in that?

Thanks,

KC

I figured it out - I took out Magical Memories and any mention of any other copyrighted item (like a Dole Whip) and it took the app.

It reminds me, though, of the old Through the Green Glass Door riddle - unless you can unlock the code, you don't know WHY you're getting it wrong!

Hmmmm. Went back to site and it says I have applied. Still no confirmation email from them. Now I am worried that somehow it went into spam filter. This doesn't seem right though because I got the "you are registered on the site" email from disney. Did the rest of you who applied get the confirming email -- if so, what did it say?
Bummer.

Lauren

Well, I applied. We'll see what happens; can't imagine they'd want another Mom from Louisville, but I'll never know if I've never try!

OK -- so I actually sunk so low as to make our IT guys look through our spam filter for the email confirming my application -- and there it was! Oh happy day.

Thanks for listening to my whining and good luck to all of us.
