Mommy & Me Girly Fun Bday 10/31 Last Day & AT home

A closeup of the table. I printed out photos of the various characters and everyone had to choose a cup and be that person (or horse) for the dinner.

The doll and bears were bought at TRUS. The paper doll in the lower right corner was made from Rachel, too.

Rachel is so talented. I printed out the sheets of Brave characters and she made the scene all by herself. Bag is from Subway.

That's so cute Marsha!! Love the cupcake idea. Rachel is a lot like you isn't she?

Ok, these are my Merida cupcakes. It's definitely not perfect but you all get the idea and they were a big hit with the girls. Also, they tasted yummy, with the chocolate fudge filling and the cherry flavor with cream cheese icing.

A close up of the cupcake. I made the arrows from skewers, dipped in metallic paint to form the tip of the arrow, glued on feathers and pushed through the cupcake and through the targets. The hair and eyebrows are from licorice, the eyes are m&ms and the cheeks/nose are Nerd candies. The blue at the bottom is supposed to be her dress. I didn't like it but Rachel did as she says, "it'll be more icing!"

Another view and a photo of Rachel's Merida doll. Yes, we had gotten a great deal so we got both girls a Merida doll -- since they came with two different outfits. I was only planning to get one but when I saw they had 2 outfits and two different accessories and we could get them for $14, I splurged.

Thanks! As I suspected, the vision in my head is so much better than what came out in reality but nonetheless, it worked.

Yeah, she definitely has my craft talents!

I'll have some more photos from the party but it's dinnertime and we are eating leftover Haggis, oops, I mean lasagna!

I think it was wonderful!! You made your own cupcakes when you could have made it easier on yourself by buying a premade yucky cake. I think everything looked adorable!! You ladies did a great job!!

Thank you! Normally I just get a premade cake and then we add our own decorations (we certainly have enough Disney trinkets to add!) but it did feel good to create our own this time.

But I do miss leftover cake! We only made 12 cupcakes...

Aww... The party came out great. I love those cupcakes

Rachel is very craft and creative too I see :goodvibes

I used to too, but I like the homemade so much more!!

That's all so cute! Love the cupcakes especially! And Rachel did an awesome job of setting up that display. :goodvibes

One more update! When we bought Rachel's birthday gifts from TRUS (on clearance even!!), the Merida wig came FREE!!

Also, I did not make this tutu -- this is the one I paid for and was the inspiration for me to start making my own. But it's still gorgeous!

Oh she looks adorable!!

You break out the suitcases yet?

Where are you telling E you are going? I was curious if you were telling her a little white lie

I bet she will be getting a lot of souvenirs :rotfl2:

Ooh I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks! She wants to bring the wig on our trip to wear to meet Merida!

Thanks! Can't wait to see her and Merida together!

Yes, I started packing on Friday. Since we are doing a split stay plus Autotrain, I am trying to pack in 3 suitcases (small ones) so all I have to do is take one suitcase for both of us plus toiletries.

Yes, I finally told Elizabeth last week. She didn't seem to be bothered by it at all. I'm guessing she really doesn't realize what it means yet. But we have been making a big deal about her going to visit Nana and Papa and my sister "all by herself" (since Rachel got to do the same thing about 2 weeks ago).

It actually worked out great, timing wise. We made a big deal out of Rachel going to Pennsylvania "all by herself" and how special that was and how Elie would be able to do it soon.

So I'm hoping it will help.

There is a part of me that is already missing Elizabeth!! She has grown so much since she turned 3 in March.

Ooh I hadn't thought of that.

Well, we already bought her a Merida water bottle and Merida t-shirt from the Disney store. They had them on sale with free shipping and Rachel had already mentioned that those were the 2 things she wanted to buy Elie. So I figured I'd get them right away (cheaper and don't have to lug around the parks/DTD).

But I'm sure we'll find something else for her too!:goodvibes

I am really excited for you two!!

I think buying her things this way is so much easier. The worst part of shopping at the parks is having to carry the purchases. One thing that is nice in Disneyland is there is a place where you can leave your purchases. I have never done it. I do miss the service of having it delivered to the resort hotels when we don't stay there.

Yeah and since we are driving/training, we don't have to worry about souvenirs not fitting in our luggage or paying more for them. I'm hoping to find some good summer stuff, esp clothes.

Since I am so tall, I can't fit in most regular clothes (i.e., long sleeves, pants) but I can usually do t-shirts and shorts.

Good idea getting some stuff at disney store, less to carry for sure
