"Mom, this is like a whole new Disney!" New 7/30 - pg 43 - Final Thoughts & PTR Link

After HoP & Haunted Mansion we headed into Fantasyland, but opted to skip IASW. It was really hot & even being in the mid-day heat for a short time was too much. We head into Mickey’s PhilharMagic! I was the only one who had ever seen it (with my mom in 2008). Tim wasn’t sure the kids were up for another “show” but everyone LOVED it!!

After the movie we visited Pooh!

After Pooh we decided to give Space Mountain another try… this time it was open!

There was one more attraction I was determined to visit after Space Mountain. Again, Tim wasn’t sure the kids would be up for another “show” but we hopped in line for the preshow at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. We texted in a couple jokes but unfortunately none of them were chosen. However, Tim was!! He was asked his favorite food, he replied, “steak”, then asked his second favorite food. He said, “ice cream” then they made some joke about steak flavored ice cream… I don’t remember exactly but the kids really got a kick out of seeing Daddy be part of the show!

I think it was sometime around here that Zachary turned to me and said, “Mom, this is like a whole new Disney!” :goodvibes

I tried to talk the gang into another “new” attraction, TTA, but they wanted to circle back to Frontierland for one last ride on BTMRR before leaving the park and ending our trip! We made our way through the hub and stopped for this photopass picture:

As we passed through Liberty Square Zach decided he wanted to check out TSI after all!! He & I took a ride over and explored the island. It was so much fun! He was brave through most of the caves, except for one that we turned around and came right back out.

I think this is the cave that scared Zach:

While we explored the island, Tim, Nancy & Alex rode Splash Mtn. After returning from the island we all rode BTMRR together. (Except for Nancy)

Then, sadly, it was time to go… We were all a little sad, but Zach cried on the way out. Then he started complaining that his belly hurt. :sad1:

When we got back to Vistana we took the boys for their last swim. After swimming for a bit, I was going to take Zach over to the food court to get a little pizza. I think we had stuff in the condo for Alex to eat for dinner & the adults were going to figure something out later. On the way over to the food court, I hear Zach cough and look over at him to see that he’s thrown up! :headache: Luckily it was just a combination of stress about vacation ending & drinking too much pool water because it didn’t happen again, but needless to say there was no pizza for him that night… just in case!

Recap of Day 10: It was a super hot day, but one of our best Disney days ever! It started with a crazy jaunt over to AK for two rides (and a missed DISmeet) and ended with a whole bunch of new stuff at MK!

Up next: Departure Day

 Space Mountain not being closed and getting to ride.:)

:cool1::banana: You and Alex got to explore TSI. How fun.

That last photopass picture in front of the castle is so perfect. What a great picture to frame. :)

Poor Zach, stress makes Jack throw up too. It's so sad our little guys have to go through that. I hope he wasn't too upset by throwing up and not getting his pizza.

Poor Zach! The end of a vacation always makes me feel a little ill, too!

Too funny that Tim was picked at the Laugh Floor! :lmao: Hurray for getting over to TSI! You really had a wonderful last day at the Magic Kingdom!

Wow! All those new things in one day! Sounds AWESOME! :thumbsup2

Jeff and I checked out the HoP this past May for the first time since our honeymoon in 1992. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the show. We'll definitely try to get the boys in there next trip!

YAY!! You made it to TSI! It's one of my boys' favorite places in the Magic Kingdom. I'm so glad Zach enjoyed it....and those caves can be a little scary! :scared1: But they're so nice and cool! :goodvibes

So sad that your trip is almost over. I can totally sympathize with Zach....vacation ending makes me want to throw up too! ;)

I was determined to get a castle picture this time and I knew this was our last chance!

I was really happy to finally get to visit TSI!! I knew Zach would love it & I think Alex will like it if we find the time to visit next time.

Zach recovered pretty quickly from the pizza but he was still sad about leaving. He comes down pretty hard when fun things come to an end.

For some reason I was OK with going home. It had been eleven days, which I think is just right with the first four visiting family. It's nice to still get a full week's vacation after visiting. :thumbsup2 But I can understand why Zach was feeling ill!

Tim isn't one to volunteer for things so it was very funny that he was chosen at Laugh Floor! I always feel bad for the bald guys who get picked for things - luckily he can't be that guy yet!

Wow! All those new things in one day! Sounds AWESOME! :thumbsup2

It was a great day! :thumbsup2 We didn't feel rushed to try to fit in all of the new things either! I've been wanting to get to HoP for a long time... TSI too! I didn't think either one would happen this time (again) but was pleasantly surprised when they both did!

Now if I can just get a ride on the TTA! :rolleyes1

It sounds like you had such a great day! Aside from Zach getting sick, that is. My brother got sick on our family trip back in 2006 but was still able to get over it and make it out to the parks until 1am that very same day. I don't think everyone realizes how exhausted your body really does it while in Disney or at any amusement park for that matter! :)

WOW! I had totally missed every update of your last day! I am glad I got all caught up! You all sure saw A LOT and the boys seemed to enjoy everything!!! That's great you finally got over to TSI!! I hope to do that on our next trip because I think the kids would like to explore it quite a bit! I can't believe your last day arrived! It's so sad!!:sad1: I am looking forward to hearing more about your trip this fall! I wish I could be going back that soon! You have had so many good pics this last day, I think I took more on the last day too than the other days. I wanted to "capture" all that I could I guess!! Your family pic in front of the castle turned out great Amy!!!

I think I was emailing with Julie at this point:

I was telling her how I was disappointed that we were skipping TSI… again!

It's all coming back to me now....

I just looked back in my very full sent items box in my email...I had emailed you to tell you Matt was fine after surgery and we chatted back and forth real quick....;)

However, Tim was!! He was asked his favorite food, he replied, “steak”, then asked his second favorite food. He said, “ice cream” then they made some joke about steak flavored ice cream… I don’t remember exactly but the kids really got a kick out of seeing Daddy be part of the show!

that is too cool...I'd love to get picked :thumbsup2

aww....:cloud9:

I tried to talk the gang into another “new” attraction, TTA,

:confused3 what you have never been on TTA???? oh my goodness...you must change that next yr when you go it is the best...seriously :cool2:

I love the pictures of Zach on TSI....I am so glad he liked it...

sorry his day ended rough but glad it wasn't serious....

I too am looking forward to your other plans...I bet it's hard to keep track of past and current...I'd be confused...

So many firsts for you...that is so great!!:thumbsup2 It sounds like you all had a wonderful time at MK.:goodvibes YAY! for making it to TSI after all! It looks like so much fun! I will definitely have to make sure we check it out next trip!

Sorry that Zach didn't feel well. I'm glad he seemed to recover quickly...even if he was sad. I don't blame him...leaving Disney is the worst.:sad2:

Okay! I just got my self caught up! I enjoyed reading about your fun at DHS! I totally agree with you, that when you can leave a park on a high note it is a good way to depart! So I understand why you didn't hang arond for F!

Now I also liked how you managed to get AK and MK in on ONE day and have so much fun in the process!! So excited that there were all these
""firsts" for your family. That is what makes it fun! I know we have tried something new each trip too... :goodvibes

Finally very cute kittens, and I am glad everyone seems open to the kitten in your household!!! Can't wait to see which one you end up with and his name!!!

Sorry to hear it is your last day, but more Disney fun is coming!!!! :goodvibes

What a great update!
The last Disney day is so sad :sad2:
But you have two trips to look forward to.

Oh my goodness, sorry I totally got that backwards.:confused3 Glad you had fun with Zach on TSI. ;):thumbsup2

Yeah leaving is hard. Glad he got over the pizza quickly though

Disney can definitely take a toll on your body! Zach has a sensitive tummy too! Wonder where he got that from? :rolleyes1

I think it's fun to miss a bunch of updates because you can read them all at once! And it was a great day for you to read all at once. :thumbsup2 Nancy took a lot of the pictures from this day... it's nice to have a second photographer along.

Yes - the last day is sad, but I'm ready to finish this puppy up & move on to fall plans! :cool1:

It's all coming back to me now....

TTA is on my list for the fall with Laura - I think she'll enjoy it too!

Zach always has a really hard time at the end of fun things - whenever we have to say good-bye to Jeff & Karen, leaving vacation, etc.

I think I'm going to do one combo PTR for both upcoming trips and write a separate short TR after the fall trip... probably mostly photos. Lots of Feb/March planning stuff coming up in August!

So many firsts for you...that is so great!!:thumbsup2 It sounds like you all had a wonderful time at MK.:goodvibes YAY! for making it to TSI after all! It looks like so much fun! I will definitely have to make sure we check it out next trip!

I tend to push it too far & end up attempting one too many rides before calling it a night... DHS was a bonus night so I guess I didn't feel the need to push it so much. :confused3

I think the AK/MK combo would have been too much on most days but we had some extra energy since it was our last day.

Yay for the kitty!! I have a surprise about that coming up pretty soon. :rolleyes1

What a great update!
The last Disney day is so sad :sad2:
But you have two trips to look forward to.

It was a pretty amazing day!! But it did have to come to an end. :sad1:

Oh my goodness, sorry I totally got that backwards.:confused3 Glad you had fun with Zach on TSI. ;):thumbsup2

Yeah leaving is hard. Glad he got over the pizza quickly though

:rotfl: I didn't even notice until you said something!

Day Eleven (Sunday, May 2nd):

Today was another hot one! We had to get up fairly early. Our flight wasn’t until 10:40 but we had to drive to Tampa, return the rental car & check-in so I believe we left around 7:30am. I’m not going to go into too much detail about our return home since it’s so sad, but there are a few highlights from the day. When we arrived in Tampa, after having a hard time finding a gas station to fill up the car, we returned the car to Thrifty. Fortunately there weren't any issues with the car since it had some scratches & was filthy when we picked it up. :thumbsup2 We checked the car inside & out, front & back. Luckily we found a bellman to help with the luggage. I hearded the kids with some help from Nancy while Tim dealt with returning the car.

We made our way to the Southwest counter. Tim got in line and I sat on a bench with the kids & carry-ons. The plan was for us to join him when he made it to the counter to deal with IDs & checking the bags, etc. When Tim was about half-way through the line, Zach starts screaming that he lost his puffle! His red puffle! Not his new red puffle, but his old beloved red puffle! :scared1: I know he had it in the car & I remember telling him to keep his things in the bag so we wouldn’t lose anything. We had checked the van thoroughly so where could it have gone? :confused3 I looked around our area & nothing!

Tim spotted the commotion (it was a huge meltdown) so I left the kids with Nancy for a minute to fill him in. He was ready to jump out of line, but I convinced him to deal with the bags first. After making it through the line, with Zach screaming the whole time, he RAN back to Thrifty to check it out. Alex, who can pick on Zach a lot, was really nice the whole time… trying to convince Zach it would be OK. Probably less than 5 minutes later Tim returned with the puffle!!! Zach was so happy! It had slipped down between his seat (behind the front passenger’s seat) and the side door. The kids had both come out the sliding door on the driver’s side and the other door was apparently the one spot we hadn’t checked!

Crisis averted so we headed to security and Alex’s bag got pulled aside! Apparently his little pencil sharpener has a razor blade in it… they let him keep it, but had to check the bag just in case it was just a blade by itself.

We didn’t have any trouble boarding. Tim & Alex sat in front of me & Zach. Nancy sat with them so I got a stranger next to me… a coughing stranger! :headache: Luckily it all worked out OK and I didn’t get sick after the trip but I was freaked out about it the whole time!

At the end of our flight, our really funny flight attendant convinced us all that there was a raffle ticket hidden in one of the seat pockets and someone would win a prize! We all dug through the pockets looking for our tickets when she tells us that there is no ticket, but while we’re in there it would be helpful to collect the trash! :rotfl: Then she sang a cute little song about Southwest that she must have written herself. I forget the words, but it was pretty funny!

That’s all folks… we made it home safe & sound after another wonderful Disney vacation!!

Up next: Recap

Southwest raffle :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sorry about the puffle drama, but thankfully it had a happy ending.

In related 2011 news.......I ordered Liam's Disney ticket today!!!!! Nothing like spending over $500 bucks on something that you can't use for another 7 months, but I did save enough money to be worth it! When I told DH that I had ordered he said it was official....we have to go to Disney!

Departure day is always a sad one!

Thank goodness the red Puffle was found! Connor has Baseball Bear, and I don't know what we would do if he ever lost it! It just doesn't bear thinking about!

The Southwest Raffle! How nice if that had been real!

Heidi, I have to ask -- why was Liam's ticket $500???

Oh I just hate departure day! :sad2:

Thanks so much for sharing your Disney adventure with us Amy! I really enjoyed it. :goodvibes

That is so funny about the raffle ticket.

oh man, a lost puffle. I know all too well about losing treasured items. Glad you were able to find the puffle and get home safely.
