Mom & Son eat the World! 11 days of DDP with tons of pics! Now Complete!

On the Day 7. Today's review will be short because I didn't take any pics at dinner. More on that later in the review.

No breakfast today ... lunch was at Tutto Italia! We were really looking forward to trying this one and it did not disappoint.

First the bread & oil

img_1387.jpg

Yum! I could make a meal on bread alone!

For appetizer we split the Antipasto Misto - generous platter of appetizers and Italian specialties, serves two

img_1388.jpg

This was FANTASTIC! One of my favorite things all week.

Then DS had Lasagna al Forno with meat ragu, bechamel and parmesan. He just started eating red sauce about a year ago and just tried lasagna about a month before our trip so he was looking forward to this

img_1389.jpg

Again, absolutely delicious. I generally like a lot of ricotta in my lasagna and this had the bechamel instead so I wasn't sure I would like it. It was so good, we didn't even miss the ricotta.

I had the Chicken Cutlet Milanese with baby arugula salad and heirloom tomatoes

img_1390.jpg

I am not sure why I ordered this. I guess because I didn't think I wanted heavy pasta at lunch. It was good but not as good as the one at Spoodles. I enjoyed it but have to say I was a bit sorry that I didn't get something else.

For dessert DS had Mocha Tiramisu - mascarpone cheese, espresso coffee, savoiardi biscuits and chocolate

img_1391.jpg

He thought it was just Ok, I think partly because we were so stuffed.

I had zabaglione with berries (don't see it on the Allears menu)

img_1392.jpg

This was very good. Light and refreshing. I am usually a chocolate girl but this was the perfect ending to this meal for me.

Total with two iced teas - $101.18. Yep, $100 for LUNCH! Wow, thank goodness for the dining plan. This is one restaurant that I really enjoyed and definitely want to return to but only on the dining plan. It seems to be a bit overpriced.

Dinner was at the Biergarten, one of our favorites. I didn't take any pictures because the family we were sat with was just not very friendly and DS was a bit embarrassed. We both loved the Schnitzel Wiener Art (Breaded Pork Schnitzel Vienna Style), Spaetzle, Sauerbraten (Marinated Pot Roast) and
Potato Dumplings with Bread Crumb Butter. The Potato soup was also very good and they had pretzel bread to dip into it! Yum! In hindsight, I shouldn't have cared about the people next to us or at least taken pics of the buffet. We were uncomfortable and really just wanted to eat and get out of there.
Sad because this is one of our favorites.

Cost with two iced teas - $57.49

I am enjoying your review - thanks for taking all of the pictures!!! You are making me want to try restaurants I never would have tried otherwise!:cutie:

Sorry you ran into unfriendly people. They can really put a damper on things. :headache:

Eh, what can you do? They seemed nice enough when we sat down & then just made a point of completely ignoring we were there. It happens. Looking back, we should have handled it differently, but we can't change it now.

Thank you for the kind words! I read so many dining reviews that totally made me eat at some of the places we tried! I am glad that I can help you do the same! :thumbsup2

I am DROOLING over that antipasto platter, that is one of my favorite things to eat! :)
Love your reviews!

More great installments, thank you! The diver sign and the menu brought tears to my eyes, so very sweet!

I really shouldn't be reading these things when I'm trying to stick to my Weight Watchers regime :sad2: Great lunch at Tutto Italia.

Great reviews and great restaurant choices!!

I got all misty when I saw the diver and the menu!!! Awesome!!

Are there any other restaurants that do the menu?

great review - thanks for sharing!

You are very welcome ... and thank you!

Thank you ... and it did me, too. When I spoke to Debbie at Coral Reef I told her that I just wanted to surprise my son but that it wasn't a birthday or anything. She took it from there. She rocks!

Yeah, I am with ya there. Trying very hard to get back to WW after my foodfest!

Great updates, Tutto looks really good.

It was really, really good!

Great reviews and great restaurant choices!!

Thank you! I am not sure about other restaurants doing it. I think I have read posts in passing here on the Dis about it but nothing specific.

THANK YOU all for the kind words! I am really enjoying reliving our trip this way!

Just terrific! Can't wait to here the rest. You have really helped my severe case of Disneymania. I leave in 18 days and it can't come soon enough!!

Ok, I think we are on day 8? Not sure and again I left my notes home so I will have to add in the pricing info later.

First up was breakfast at 'Ohana - Hua Paka (Scrambled Eggs) - made fresh, hot & delicious
Uala Kahiki (Fried Potatoes) - island-style potatoes, caramelized onions & scallions
Pua'a (Pork) - pork breakfast sausage links & smoked bacon
Assorted Warm Breakfast Breads
Seasonal Fruit Bowl for na Keiki (Kids)

img_1435.jpg

And of course the waffles

img_1437.jpg

We love this breakfast. What is it about those scrambled eggs? They are so much better than any others I have ever had! I just love them!

Total cost - $40.45

Lunch was at Tony's Town Square. Unfortunately this was the other 'miss' meal for us. We left somewhat sorry that we ate here. Our waitress was borderline rude although efficient.

We started with the soup of the day, minestrone

img_1448.jpg

DS had one of the specials ... a panini with marinated pork loin, arugula pesto and roasted peppers

img_1449.jpg

This was Ok. Much better than my Multigrain Pasta Primavera - Seasonal Vegetables in Garlic and Olive Oil topped with Balsamic Glaze and Feta

img_1450.jpg

The 'seasonal' vegetables were mostly marinated artichoke hearts with very little broccoli and some eggplant. Just not at all what I expected. I do like artichoke hearts but this was just way too many and with the balsamic vinegar it was too overpowering.

For dessert we shared the pistachio creme brulee which was the best part of the meal. Andrew had a cappuchino.

img_1451.jpg

We have eaten lunch and dinner here in the past and we always say that we won't go back & then we do because I really love Lady & the Tramp. But I really think this is the last time here for us.

Total cost - $55.62

Dinner was my most anticipated meal of the trip ... California Grille!

I had never been there before and man, oh man that view!
For some reason, I am not finding the pics in photobucket so I will post those tonight.

For starters, DS had the Sicilian Flatbread with Sopressata, Tomato Compote, Provolone Cheese and Pepperoncini Relish

img_1492.jpg

This was absolutely delicious! A little spicy but not overpowering. I snagged a couple of pieces in exchange for 1/2 of my Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Pesto, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Basil

img_1493.jpg

Again, wonderful! I loved how all of the flavors just melding together.

For dinner, DS had Roasted Lamb Tenderloin with Eggplant "two-ways", Rosemary Potatoes, Confit Garlic and Currant Tomatoes.

img_1494.jpg

I don't eat lamb but did try a bite and thought it was pretty tasty. Andrew orders lamb whenever he sees it on a menu (since DH and I don't eat it) and declared this to be by far the best lamb he had ever eaten. He also ate a few bites of the egglant and said it was Ok. I liked it but I like eggplant and he is just starting to try it.

I had the Oak-fired Filet of Beef with Boniato Mashed Potatoes, Sauteed Haricot Vert and Teriyaki Barbeque Sauce

img_1495.jpg

I am a medium-well girl and this was cooked perfectly and not at all dry. And the green beans! Oh my gosh! Again, not sure what made them so special but I could have eaten a whole plate of them!

On to dessert ... DS had something I don't actually see on the Allears menu. It was similar to the butterscotch stack (Banana and Butterscotch "Buzz" Caramelized Bananas and Butterscotch Custard Stack with Caramel Sauce, Cocoa Nib, and Plantain Chip) but not exactly that. It was a butterscotch creme brulee with a zucchini/ginger kind of cake and I can't remember what else

img_1496.jpg

I had the Peachy Keen Peach Cheesecake, Bellini "Bubble Tea", Spiced Tea Cake with Vanilla Creme Glace

img_1497.jpg

OH MY GOODNESS! Both dessert plates were absolutely to die for! We all but licked the plates clean! The bellini bubble tea has some type of fruit in it that sucked up the straw. It was very unique and very good. Anyone know what the fruit is?

We just loved our meal here. One of the best of the trip ... probably 2nd (to Jiko coming up!). We watched the fireworks outside after dinner and it was simply magical.

I will post those pics later today!

Total cost for items included in the DP - $128.01 (and worth every cent even if we paid for it!)

Total cost for my two glasses of wine - $25.56

The balls that you sucked through the straw are tapioca balls, also called "pearls". Yes, like the kinda that are in tapioca pudding, these are just bigger, purplish and yummy. Bubble tea was popular in china and now it is a craze in the states, mostly in large cities and by colleges. It is addictive if you can get over the wierd texture of the "pearls".

Another great update! :thumbsup2

We love those eggs at 'Ohana too, they are just so good! We have to go to 'Ohana every trip for breakfast - family insists on it! :)

California Grill looked yummy, that one is on my to-do list for my next girls weekend trip with my sisters!

Can't wait to see the rest! :)

I agree about the scrambled eggs, they are incredible and I could eat my weight in them!

Thank you for your Cali Grill review, DH and I are trying it for the first time next month, your pics have me drooling!!

Thank you! I didn't mind the texture of the pearls at all. I thought it was such a fun drink! I had never heard of this before. You learn something new every day! :goodvibes

Just what is it about those eggs? :confused3 :)

I hope that you both enjoy Cali Grill! It was truly fantastic!

Wow - your review of California Grill is great, it all looks absolutely amazing!!

I'm loving your reports :)
