Mom and Dad's Dream Trip-34 Yrs in Making-Jun08 SOUVIE PICS PG 51 NEXT TRIP!!???!!!!?

HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!!!!! AND NOW......................................................................................................................................................

IT'S ONLY 6 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!!!! ONLY 6 DAYS, ONLY 6 DAYS, ONLY 6 DAYS UNTIL WE ARE AT MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!!! THE LESS THAN A WEEK JIG FOR YOU!!!! :cool1: ::yes:: :rotfl2: :confused3 :lmao: :rotfl:   :worship: :woohoo: :wizard: :dance3: :yay: :rolleyes1 :cutie:  :scared1: :scared1: :hyper: :bitelip:

Sorry I didn't post too much yesterday--I was SO BUSY PACKING!!!! Megan and I had a lovely day--we didn't have to go anywhere, so we hung out at the house, played, packed, and had a good time. When Tom got home, we went to the library to drop off some old movies, and pick up some new ones--today is supposedly going to be a rainy mess according to our local weather dudes, but right now I am looking out on glorious sunshine!!! HUH--GO FIGURE!!! After that, we went out for some pizza and then took Megan to our favorite little Putt-Putt place. Tom LOVES miniature golf--always has--and he has raised Megan with the same love for it since she was old enough to stand and hold a putter at the same time--so she is becoming quite a young pro! The two of them play, and I am "the drawer" (according to Megan) or scorekeeper. (Megan usually can't focus long enough if all three of us play.) She actually got a hole-in-one last night before Tom did--I was so proud of her. I think Tom was too, but was also nursing a bruised ego! ;) Once we finished with that, we headed home, got the little monkey ready for bed, watched her little Imagination Movers video--Stir It Up--and put her down for dreamland. Now, I was excited thinking we were going to go down and FINALLY watch the LOST season finale--since I didn't get to watch it Thursday since he went to a Reds game with all his buddies. BUT NO--he wanted to watch the end of the Reds extra-inning game last night, and then he announced that he was too tired to watch Lost!!! UGH!!! :( So now I have to wait AGAIN! We promised each other that we wouldn't watch it until both of us could watch it together--my endurance is quickly waning! So away to dreamland for the two of us as well!!!

OH WELL!!! Back to the packing---(which I should take a picture of--WILL DO/STAY TUNED!)

As I already mentioned, I packed up our snacks/food container on Thursday as well as most of our toiletry bag--just need to throw in the remaining items that we need to use until then. Yesterday, I focused on Megan's suitcase. I can pack this early, because the girl has more clothes than I know what to do with, and she will have plenty to wear until we go. So I sorted out all the outfits--realized there were a few items in the laundry that need to get washed to finish her stuff--and then for each day I packaged up the outfit, underwear, and socks in a quart sized ziploc bag. I labeled each bag with the day it will be worn. I put her PJ pals and her swimwear each in a marked gallon sized bag, and then all the hair bows/pretties we would need in another quart sized bag. Her stuff fits into our smallest suitcase--so I placed that stuff in there, as well as her Tinkerbell shoes, Snow White shoes, new princess gym shoes, and princess sandals. AGAIN--she has enough sandals/shoes that she will have plenty to wear until we go. She wants to wear her turquoise blue crocs in the car--so will make sure those are on her feet when we depart. Threw in her Mickey ears and Snow White wand, and she is almost done!! It was a VERY PRODUCTIVE day!!!! I will go take pics to share--also pics of our tip envelopes!!! Enjoy your day! Jen

This will be our second time at WDW during this week in June, so I will try to remember exactly what it was like.

The most crowded park that we encountered was, of course, the Magic Kingdom. The times when I REALLY noticed the crush of crowds was at rope drop -- we did an EMH one morning at MK and regular rope drop one morning at AK (and vowed to wait until the parks opened each day after that). Other than that, we really were not overwhelmed by the crowds: especially not at Epcot, DHS, or Animal Kingdom. We never had to FP at DHS; FPed Soarin' and Mission:Space; FPed Everest and Kilimanjaro; FPed Splash Mountain, and I think that was it. The rest were small waits (no more than 30 minutes), although I will tell you that we knocked out all of our Fantasyland rides the morning that we did the EMH at MK.

I will also mention that we tried to avoid the parks with EMH after the MK morning because I read somewhere that those are the parks that are most crowded. It seemed to work really well, and we are planning on doing the same thing this year. While I don't have the sensory issues that Megan has, I get VERY claustrophobic in crowds -- heart racing and incredibly cranky -- I am not kidding when I say that crowds make me twitch. So, I try to minimize the potential of being stuck in a crush of people.

Hope this helps somewhat -- it will be crowded and hot, but should be nowhere near as bad if we were going July 4th week or something.

Thanks!!! I should be able to get the dress the next time I see my mom--I will post a pic!! Yesterday was a good day!! Look for the update coming right up!

I should be able to get that dress soon!! It was really easy--just one side seam, and then attaching the straps--I'll post them as soon as I have a pic!

sounds pretty easy....but I am not good at stuff like that so I probably would still mess it up!

that's some good info there...

oh yeah, NOTHING is as bad as the week of Independence Day! We went in '06, arriving on the 4th, and staying for 5 days after that. I will say this...anyone who is going on the 4th of July, go to Epcot that day. Not only are the fireworks GREAT (there's an extra RW&B fireworks show after Illuminations), it is the park that can best handle crowds b/c it's so widespread. (thank you Unofficial Guide!) Also, most of the WDW guests must have been at MK because we got to Epcot at 4 and still managed to do just about all of FutureWorld, as well as Maelstrom, El Rio del Tiempo (it was before the update) and we ate a quick service dinner, all that night. We rode TT and Mission Space a couple of times that night. I was surprised at how much we got done on the 4th! Albeit, the EMH's that evening helped out a lot.
Sorry for the tangent...

Nice update Jen...you don't sound very excited.
:lmao:

Thanks for the info Jackie!!! I really appreciate it! The more info I can get to prepare myself for this trip the BETTER!!! Doesn't sound to bad so far! WHEW!!!

I enjoyed the packing report. Keep going, and CONGRATS on ONLY 6 DAYS!!!!:dance3: :yay:

Thanks for the congrats!!! I will try to get pics of the suitcases and tip envelopes really soon!! The envelopes turned out too cute!!!

TRUST ME--YOU COULD MAKE THIS ONE AND TOTALLY NOT MESS IT UP!
VERY EASY!!!

Nice update Jen...you don't sound very excited.
:lmao:

Thanks for the info and the compliments on the update! :thumbsup2 I'm so SORRY my enthusiasm isn't showing more! ;) :rotfl: :rotfl2: Man, I'm going to have to work on getting psyched up and excited for this trip!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: You CRACK me up Cheri! I am at the point where I am SO close to announcing to everyone I see--"HEY! GUESS WHERE I'M GOING TO BE IN 6 DAYS!?!?!?!?!?" I just know the people on the side of the road, at the grocery store, and in the ladies' bathroom at the park really want to know that! Don't you think?

MINI UPDATE:

I just thought I would let all who were curious know that AGAIN our meterologists got it completely WRONG today!!! We were prepping for a stormy Saturday, and instead we have had beautiful sunshine--probably in the 80s all day! GORGEOUS!!!! We went to a local park to take a long walk, play in the playground, etc. Tom and I spent the whole time talking about the trip. I shared with him the advice and tips some of you have shared with me about touring in June--he thanks you as well! Spent the whole day outside--starting on my "tan!" I WISH! I don't get too dark, so I try not to get too excited when I see a little brown on my arms. ANYWAY--it has been a lovely day! We are grilling out tonight--LET THE SUN SHINE!!!!! Our weather guys have been getting it SO wrong lately! I don't know what's up with them!!! Oh well, going to go grill up some burgers and make a yummy pasta salad! Just thought I would update you all on our "Rainy Saturday!" HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Hi Jen! Did you get to watch LOST yet? We couldn't watch it on Thur night and so we watched it last night.....WOW! You will have to PM me when you do watch it, so we can dish about it! I don't want to give out any spoilers! But DH and I are going to watch it again tonight!popcorn::

Getting very excited for you and your trip! So soon! Our weather man got it wrong today too, it was supposed to be crazy windy with lots of rain and thunderstorms, but all we had were clouds and a little drizzle. Ds still had his baseball game this morning (they are 2nd heading into the playoffs next week!:cool1: ) and it never really stormed. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful....hope so! Although my two little ones are sick with bronchitis! DD was at the dr on Wed and got an antibiotic, and is doing better but now my tiny guy is running a fever and is miserable with a terrible cough. So we'll be off to the pediatrician on call tomorow!

Hurray for the weatherman being wrong again!

Hopefully all my ramblings about June crowds will be helpful!

I won't spoil anything about Lost, either, but it sure held my attention for two hours. ;) And I shed a few tears in the process. That's all I am saying...:rolleyes1

At a JoAnn's Fabrics store--is that a chain you all have in Kansas? (Secret inside joke, my mom's name is JoAnn, and she is always in there getting fabric for projects or yarn for her crocheting, so we always said the store was named for her!!!)

Thanks...we Do have JoAnn's here in Kansas. I may need to find one and check it out.

And NO--we are going to be the only ones there, RIGHT?!?!?!? ;) That is the one thing I think we are nervous about---we don't care if the weather is hot--we have been through hot. But since we are SO used to going during the off-season, Tom and I are nervous about the crowds. It is hard to prepare when you don't know how badly it really is going to be. I am sure in our head we are grossly over-exaggerating it in our heads, but we have nothing to go by or base it on. ATTENTION TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE GONE THIS TIME IN JUNE BEFORE---CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE US A CLUE WHAT THE CROWDS REALLY ARE GOING TO BE LIKE?!??!?! I ask this not just to be curious, but we really do need to know for a very personal reason--Megan. As I have mentioned before, Megan suffers from Sensory Integration Dysfunction, and is HIGHLY oversensitive to any input coming through all her senses. (HENCE--the reason we usually go when it is not too crowded--being in confined spaces with crowds terrifies her.) For this reason, we are going to request a Guest Assistance Card this year for her for the first time--we hope we never have to use it, but it will be good to have in case we are in a queue line with a LOT of people and she starts to get unsettled and melt down. The GAC will allow us to go stand in a more private, secluded area with her until I guess the rest of the group catches up to us. So this is why Tom and I are trying to prepare ourselves for the most realistic understanding about the crowds--we are trying to prepare Megan.

;) ;) ;) :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

OK. I have to say. We were in WDW the first week of June a few years ago and I vowed to never return at that time of year again. We normally go in the low times too, so it was a pretty big difference. First of all it was HOT HOT HOT. Not the normal Florida Hot, but record high HOT. 95-98 temps with heat indexes over 105. But when you added the crowd of people to the heat it was pretty difficult. I HIGHLY recommend getting the the parks as early as possible because the crowds were really much slower until about 10:30 or 11. Then it was like a wall of people came in. By that time we were ready to take a break, eat lunch and rest a bit. I know you will have a great time no matter what, but just pay attention to the recommended advice for busy days. Have fun!

We finally got to watch it last night! OH MY GOSH!! I shed a few tears too! I will PM you so we can dish about it! I am glad the weather guys got it wrong in your neck of the woods too! Congrats to DS on their standings in baseball--here's to more good luck in the playoffs! :wizard: I hope all get well soon in your household!! Being sick in the summer is no fun!! I hope you can stay well through it too!!! ONLY 5 MORE DAYS FOR US!!! :)

The weather here this weekend was TOO BEAUTIFUL!! I really do appreciate all the comments about the June crowds!! I hope we can manage through it all! LOST was SO GOOD!! Now I hate that we have to wait until September for more! UGH! :(

We are definitely taking all these recommendations and advice to heart!! It really does help getting some perspective on what we are about to encounter--say some wishes for good weather and pixie dust abounding on us!!! No matter what, we are going to have fun!!! ::yes::

Good evening everyone!! Only 5 more days for us!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!!

We had another gorgeous Sunday here in the Cincy area, and since it was nice and Griffey is sitting on 599 home runs, we headed out to the ballpark to watch the Reds today. It was a great day--good weather, lots of home runs (although none from Griffey), and a Reds win!!! (Sorry to my ATL girls!!!) We headed to Pompilio's for dinner--an Italian restaurant across the river in Newport, KY that was used for filming in several movies---most notably Rain Man (think matchstick scene). So we really enjoyed ourselves today! Megan gobbled up cotton candy and a snowball at the game--thanks to Daddy not being able to say "no" to that "precious" face. OH NO!! That means trouble for WDW!!! Hee Hee HEE!!! It is rather difficult to find a reason to say no to her! ;o)

I have to tell you a funny story about dinner though--we were sitting close to this large family and I could vaguely hear one of the ladies talking to two of the young girls about no other place than DISNEY WORLD!!! I couldn't tell if they had just gone, or if they were getting ready to go, or WHAT!! I SO wanted to jump over to the table and chime in, but did find the restraint to control myself from doing so---but it was VERY HARD!!!!! I just wanted to stand on top of my table and shout---HEY, I'm going there in 5 DAYS!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT--ONLY 5 DAYS!!! I know Tom was talking to me throughout our dinner, but honestly, I couldn't tell you what we talked about at all!!! Oh well--had to share because I knew you all would understand! ;o)

The BAD dreams have started!!!! You know the ones where you already sad that the vacation is almost over---BEFORE IT HAS EVEN STARTED!!! I am already developing vacation depression! WHY does that happen? I am also starting to get bummed out about not getting any Dreams from the dream squad, WHEN WE HAVEN'T EVEN GONE YET!!!!! Why does this happen? How do I fix this? HELP ME GANG!!! I know I am not the only one who is suffering from this--I think we need to create a support group! OH WELL--I will wish for an extra dose of pixie dust tonight before I go to sleep--that will work right?!?!??! Okay--enough whining!! I go to see the Mouse in 5 DAYS!!! WOO HOO!!!!!! Talk to you all soon! Jen

I can't wait until September, although you know that half the things we have questions about won't be answered that soon! ;)

Here's something I found out from reading jordanyosh's TR: at the ABC Commisary at DHS they have big display of Lost props including that comic book that Walt was reading with the polar bear! I am so planning on ducking in and looking!

No matter what, we are going to have fun!!! ::yes::

Because this time next week we will be at Disney World!!! :woohoo:

Count me in!! I am TOTALLY checking that display out!! SO many questions, SO little time they take to answer them for us!! :goodvibes ;) BUT HEY--that is what keeps us coming back over and over again for more--gotta love it! I can't believe it is almost here!! I don't want to wish it away--so I won't---but can't seem to grasp the sands of time to slow things down to my liking----maybe I need some help from the people on the island?!?!??!?! Had to throw in a LOST reference!

Too funny how we become attuned to any talk of WDW! I want to shout it out to everyone near me, too!

You do have a support group -- your DIS buddies! :goodvibes

I have the weirdest dreams about Disney, too -- here are a couple of the choicer ones: we were driving through Jacksonville (which we don't even do) and kept getting turned around on the interstates -- I was completely panicked because I knew we were never going to reach WDW. The other one I had was a true nightmare -- I dreamed I stopped in Morocco in WS to buy cinnamon rolls and was arrested. Horrible stuff! :(

As for the vacation depression, I get that, too -- we just have to remember that we are going to make it back there again. And we have to enjoy every single minute that we are there. Which we will be soon...very, very soon! :goodvibes

We just need to throw our metal lawn chairs into the pod!!! :lmao: Oops, that was for movement -- can we use that to make the drive shorter???

HOW FUNNY!!! I thought I was the ONLY crazy Disney nut in the world that does both of these type of things. I'm especially bad with the pre-trip because it's almost over depression. If I don't have a trip in the planning stages at all times I'm not happy. I want to be a charter member of the support group!

How lucky that you only have 5 more days! It will be here before you know it. Then we can sit on pins and needles waiting for the trip report!

Best wishes for a good nights sleep tonight!:wizard:

Thanks Jackie--I do know I can always count on my DISers to help out in a time in need! ;) Thanks for all the ongoing support! Your dreams are too funny!! Getting arrested in Morrocco is DEFINITELY scary!!! It was sad that you brought up thinking of future trips in order to combat the trip depression--I was concocting in my head the other day plans for taking our NEXT trip!!! When it would be, where I would want to stay, etc. What great plans I have made in my head!!! Now, just making them come to fruition is the next hard part!!!! HMMMMMMM!!!

Thanks for the Lost reference--I need one of those pods this year and the gear so I can move us directly from here to there without the 14 hour drive!!! Thanks Jackie!!! :thumbsup2

Consider your charter membership initiated!!! Welcome to the club! I am already plotting and planning ways to get to go on our next trip--whenever that may be!! Hopefully sooner than later! I am glad to see you will be staying on board for the TR--it will be filled with pics and great tales of fun! It will be here before we KNOW it! Thanks for the well wishes for sleep--I slept great!

For today's post, I have to thank Lesley (aka timandlesley) and Punkin who have given me the FABULOUS idea to create a photolog of what we will be doing "This time next week!" (Although, I will have to backtrack a little to do this time in 4 days, etc. since we have a late start.) So sit back and enjoy! ON WITH THE SHOW!!!!!!

This time in FOUR DAYS--that's right on FRIDAY:

We will be loading up the "family truckster" (aka My mom's minivan--gets better gas mileage than our SUV) and heading due south TO THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!!!!

P1010001.jpg

And after 14 hours of driving and several stops later, we will be checking in here this time in 5 days!!!
