Mom and Dad's Dream Trip-34 Yrs in Making-Jun08 SOUVIE PICS PG 51 NEXT TRIP!!???!!!!?

Hey Jenn,

sounds like you had a wonderful family weekend! I don't think we have any drive inns in our area, my kids would love that! That sounded so neat! Glad you liked it...

Ok so tell me, my kids just finished watching all the other 3 movies, didn't realize the last one was pg 13 (and I know this one is also) I only thought one scene in 3 was a fast forward moment... What did you think about the new one?? Any inappropriate stuff? my kids really want to see it.

Sorry it doesn't look like you all can go with to Miami :(

you are getting soo close! :)

Let us know what you think of the exibit. I have been considering going.

First of all---I LOVE your quote in your siggie about vacations being an investment in your family!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! I totally agree! Life is too short not to take some quality family time and enjoy each other--especially when you are at the Mouse's House! We weren't able to make it to the exhibit this weekend, but we are planning on going soon, so please stay tuned to hear all about that exhibit in a future update!

Sounds like you had a fun weekend!

My DH just loves Frisbee golf! He played with his friends when we went to Texas and I wasn't "allowed" to go because it was an all-guy thing. :snooty:

I love playing board games and can NEVER get my DH to play. I even have the TALKING BATTLESHIP! What is Bargain Hunter?
My all-time favorite is Monopoly even though it takes hours to play. I like playing that with about 4 people so I hardly get to play because I can't even get DH to play!

Cinderella II? Why haven't I seen this? :confused3

So what rating would you give Indy out of 10? I've heard some mixed reviews.

It's so nice that you always pack a day with so much fun stuff. My life is SO boring compared to yours. Maybe when DH stops working weekends (someday) I'll be able to have fun again. Til then I guess I can live vicariously through you! :rotfl:

I have never heard of a Bodies exhibit. Sounds cool to me. I'd like to hear about it when you get back. BTW how'd you get free tix?

We had a great weekend Cheri--I hope you did as well!! Frisbee golf is a LOT of fun, and I DEFINITELY think you should tell your hubby he needs to take you some time soon! It is a great way to hike and play a game at the same time! Tom is pretty good--me not so much--but we have fun! Tom even has "professional discs" that he uses---YES, it is actually a PROFESSIONAL sport!!!! I just use the regular old frisbees, and now chase Megan around as she uses her own little frisbee. It is NOT just a "GUY thing!" :goodvibes

We LOVE playing board games whether it is just us two or the three of us. I so totally am lusting over your electronic version of Battleship--HOW COOL!!! Bargain Hunter is an old 80s game that Tom still has from when he was a kid that we love to pull out and play--it is right up your alley Cheri because it is all about SHOPPING!!! You can still find them on Ebay, and there is a modern version called Mall Madness--although not as good as the original IMO! SO MUCH FUN! You and Tom would get along great in respect to Monopoly--HIS FAVORITE GAME!!! We almost ended our relationship though over a heated Monopoly game back when we were in college (NO JOKE--LONG STORY!!), so it takes a LOT to get me to play that game with him now--at least a couple of glasses of wine and at least ONE backrub! He even has a version you can play on the Playstation! It sounds like you would be the kind of person he would LOVE to play that game with!!!! One of my favorites is Scrabble--but he feels I have an unfair advantage because I was an English teacher--go figure! :lmao:

Cinderella II was released directly to DVD in 2007--if you can't find it at your video rental place, try the library. We get most of Meg's movies there because they are FREE!!!

I would give Indy a 7 or 8 out of 10. There were a couple of "WHAT?!?!" moments, but it is an enjoyable movie, and DEFINITELY worth seeing in the theater on the big screen!

We try our best to jam pack our weekend with fun things to do because that is usually the best quality family time we get all week due to Tom's long work days and huge work load. He tries to make up for missed time in the evenings with Megan by doing fun family stuff together on the weekends. We have season passes to the Cincy zoo and the Cincy museum complex so that helps us get out and see and do plenty--it feels like it is free (I know in reality it isn't) but we can come and go as we please there without having to pay any additional fees. My life during the week would probably put you into a coma though--very monotonous and routine (laundry, house cleaning, cooking, etc.)--but at least Megan's sense of humor and wit livens up my days!!!

The Bodies Exhibition is a touring exhibit with real human bodies that are on display to demonstrate the anatomy and physiology of our human body. The bodies have been preserved through a plasticization process. Here is a link with a little info about it on it:
http://www.cincymuseum.org/explore_our_sites/special_exhibits_events/current_exhibits/

We didn't make it on Monday--too crowded due to the holiday--but will be going soon, and I will post an update about it!! STAY TUNED!!! We got free tix from my sister when she used to teach Nursing classes at a local community college--she took her students there on a group trip so they could learn more about the anatomy and physiology elements they were learning about in the classroom. She had two extra tickets, so she passed them my way. What a great Sis!!!

SO COOL! I want to see it! Tell me what you think!

We couldn't go on Monday--too crowded due to the holiday--but will be going soon--STAY TUNED FOR THAT UPDATE!!!

I just finished reading your report and can't wait for the rest. Your daughter is adorable. I take care of two children who were both premature(the girl earlier than her brother) who are both doing wonderful, the little girl is also a Megan and currently is four but will turn 5 shortly! I can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Thanks for joining in and reading along on my PTR!!! Thanks also for the kind compliments on Megan--she is our PRINCESS!! How ironic that you take care of a little 4yo preemie Megan too!!! Did either of the two have any setbacks or difficulties due to their prematurity? Please stay tuned to hear all about our trip!! I can't wait--only 10 more days!

Glad your making the most of your long weekend, I have never tried frisbee golf, sounds fun. We went hiking in some of the nearby canyons, it was a nice day for us as well.
I love game night, we have been playing disney scene it and disney trivia 2 alot lately, it's usually an all out battle between Ashley(DD) and I, Jay (DH) doesn't stand a chance:laughing: , we have a blast!
Thats a bummer Tom's has so much work and has to leave town, Jay use to work out of town sometimes weeks at a time and I alway's hated it, so I hope you are able to work out a way to join him. Of coarse on the other hand reuniting can be fun ;) .
The exhibit sounds intresting I would also like to hear about it when you return. I don't think I woud buy tickets either, but if I were given free tickets I would probably go too so no flames from me.
Have fun pulling out the suitcases and packing.:goodvibes Deb.

We had a great weekend!!! Tom and I have great memories of hiking in Colorado in 1993--we were at Estes Park--BEAUTIFUL!!! We couldn't get over the fact that it was August, and we found snow up on some of the hilltops as we were hiking!! I haven't tried either of those games, but that sounds like something fun to do with our whole family some night!!! I hope there is some way that we can go with Tom to Miami, but the outlook is looking bleak--airfare from Cincy is OUTRAGEOUS, and we all know about the gas prices!! :scared1: We will miss each other terribly, but will hope the week goes quickly! AND I DO know what you mean about those reunions though--;) ;) :bitelip: !!! AND TOM is ITALIAN!!! ;) ;) :bitelip: :bitelip: :woohoo: :woohoo: :lovestruc Hee Hee Hee!!!!! Oh Deb--you took my mind to the gutter!!! Hee Hee--THANKS!!! :rotfl:

Sounds like you have had a fantastic weekend so far!

Indy would be the perfect movie to see at the drive-in! I didn't even know those were around anymore!

I have heard about the Bodies exhibit -- I think it was here in Atlanta, but I may be mistaken about it. I agree that it would be interesting to see, but I am just too squeamish!

Hurray for 11 days! I am at 13!

We had a great weekend--so much fun stuff to do! We found out at the movie Saturday there are only 400 drive-ins left--funny we actually have two within driving distance! We didn't get to Bodies yet, but I will post an update here once we do--I think it will be interesting, and I actually don't think I will be too squeamish. Since the bodies are plasiticized, there is no ooey, gooey, bloody stuff to look at--thank goodness--because that is the one reason I chose teaching over becoming a doctor!!! I think I headed in the right direction!!! DON'T YOU?!?!?!?

Here's to ONLY 10 MORE DAYS!!!! :dance3:

you are getting soo close! :)

Hey Annette!! We had a great weekend--hope yours was good as well!! We actually have two in our area, but I know they are dying breed--hope they last for awhile longer!

I think in the new one there are only a few moments when they might get scared--can't think of anything too inappropriate--just a little on the scary side. How do your kids do with that type of thing?

We are still keeping hope alive about Miami, but I really do think the chances of us going with are slim. Airfare from Cincy is OUTRAGEOUS, and the gas prices are just SO high!

We are getting so close kiddo!! ONLY 10 MORE DAYS!!! Woo hoo!!! Have a great Tuesday! HEY--what are we going to watch tonight? There is no more IDOL!!!

I feel like I haven't watched anything much in the last couple of days..

Thanks for the info on the movie... my kids love scary, the scarier the better for them... My kids are probably the only ones who have seen all 3 jaws! Yeah I know, not a great parenting decision (that's b/c my hubbie is ALWAYS letting them watch stuff like that) but they still go in the ocean, so that is good right!? heehee.... some day I am sure it will all come back to haunt me!

Unfortunatly airfare is probably going to also get higher etc.. something has to give... keep us posted on that..

Hey gang!! Happy Tuesday!! Guess what??!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!

ONLY 10 MORE DAYS UNTIL MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!!!!!! Tomorrow we will be doing the single-digit dance of JOY!!!! YEAH!!! I can't contain my enthusiasm any longer!!! :rotfl2: :cool1: :yay: :dance3:

Yesterday we skipped out on Bodies--too crowded due to the holiday--and spent the afternoon and evening over at Tom's parents house grilling out for both lunch and dinner. His mom made some great pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris so it was a GOOD day! So today was a typical Tuesday--Megan had therapy at 9am, and then we ran our errands--went to the bank, I stopped by the fabric store to get a little more cording to finish the knapsacks I made for Mike's kids for Disney (pics coming soon!), I hit Target to finish some Disney shopping, and then the Dollar store to load up on snacks/treats for the car and to keep in the room.

Here's a list of all the things I got for the trip:

--misting fan (Okay, Annette, I broke down and just got the Target one.)
--two boxes of oatmeal packets for breakfasts in the room
--a new belt for me--it's awesome because it is reversible--AND A SMALLER SIZE!!!!
--New princess gym shoes for Megs--even though she has her sandals, she still wants to take a pair of gym shoes down with her--needed a new pair
--Box of Crunch N Munch
--Bag of Animal Crackers
--Bag of Trail Mix
--One box of the cheddar cheese cracker sandwiches
--One box of the peanut butter cracker sandwiches
--One package of Pretzel dippers with cheese (5 individual packets)
--One bag of cashews
--One bag of Laffy Taffys (a favorite of Tom and Kristi)
--new Voluminous mascara (My absolute favorite mascara--so far--always willing to try new ones though)
--new CG Smoothers tinted moisturizer with SPF (I got a recommendation from here to try this instead of foundation and face sunscreen at WDW. Not sure about it--will have to try it out first. I don't like to wear a LOT of makeup at Disney because I usually just sweat it off or it melts away. WARNING TO THOSE WHO MAY RUN IN TO ME OR SEE ME ON PICTURES--I don't usually look that bad, but hey, it's WDW, and I just can't worry too much about that kind of thing---or spend that much time on getting all dolled up in the morning! I sweat a lot for some reason, so I just wanted to try to see if anything would last through the sweat. I do want a little something on my face so I don't look so dead in the pictures and videos though. I usually always wear mascara and lip balm/gloss, but this year I thought I would try out this moisturizer to see if it works at all with me and the Orlando heat.)
--new Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother gloss with SPF (I love Neutrogena lip products--usually wear their regular lip gloss in Dreamy--LOVE IT!!! But I use this at WDW because of the SPF and the tint! Good Stuff!!)
--deodorant--Secret Platinum in Botanical Silk--a fave of mine!

I think that just about does it for my shopping list---I will double check it to make sure of course!!! The only thing I want to do is go to Bath and Body Works to pick up some travel size shower gel and lotion in a great scent. Okay I'm going to divulge a little personal secret of mine, this is going to sound really goofy, but just bear with me--I am a goofy girl, I like finding a great fresh summery, reminiscent of Disney smelling scent from B&BW before I go on each trip. Then I use it all week--it has to be something that smells good and is memorable. Then, when I get home, everytime I use it, the smell of it reminds me of my trip--because our sense of smell is so intrinsically tied into our memory--I feel like I am transported back to that WONDERFUL place each time I shower and lotion up! For instance, on our November trip I wore Brown Sugar and Fig (it was fall so I went with a more fallish scent) all week. Ever since, when I put on that lotion, I smell our trip--and remember different things about it and it makes me feel like I am back there for just a moment! I know I am crazy, but it is my way of bringing the world back home with me. I need to go find one for this year's trip--anyone got any good ideas? I haven't been there since that trip, so I am not sure if there are any great new scents I need to check out!! LET ME KNOW!!!
I am going to pack up my park bag tonight and the box with the food, since I have all the items I need for those all ready to go!

That's about all I know for now!! Help me out with those scents if you have any suggestions!! Talk to you all soon! Jen

Not much TV left--except LOST finale on Thursday! I think your kids can definitely handle it if they have seen all three Jaws!!! I think they might enjoy it! UGH!! I can't believe airfare is going to continue to go up!!! When is all this going to end? NEVER! I just hope salaries start going up to help out with the hike in the cost of living! OH well!!!

Jen, I couldn't believe it when you posted about the BBW scent thing.....I have done that when I had all my babies! I always liked to get the body spray (b/c I couldn't shower for a few days due to the c-sections) and antibacterial hand gel (since I couldn't get up to wash my hands before handling the baby) and each time I got a different scent. When I smell one of those scents I am sent back instantly to whichever baby I had at that time. Makes me want to cry.....its so real! I will have to do the same thing with our disney trip this year!

I am getting so excited for you! We will be celebrating ds's 10th birthday on June 7th ( a huge party for him, since he is turning double digits!) and then his birthday is June 8th so we are doing a count-down of sorts here too!:rotfl: I still can't believe my first baby boy is going to be 10! But I will be thinking about you guys down there, and I really can't wait to hear all about your trip!:cool1:

And, I totally cannot wait for the Lost season finale! Although, like a disney trip I can't wait, but I really don't want it to be over! I told DH we are going to watch Lost on Friday night instead, so we don't have to worry about him getting up for work the next day. I will get lots of appetizers and something yummy to drink.....can't wait! Then every thursday over the summer, we will have to watch an episode from season 2. We got the series on dvd (all of them actually) but haven't really watched them regularly. Now I'd like to go back and rewatch!

So enjoy on Thursday! And I'll "talk" to you about it on Saturday!!:rotfl2:

OH MY GOD JEN!! You made me start crying!!! I did the same thing when we had Megan--I was recovering from the C-section and had some traumatic reactions after the surgery--so I too was put on bedrest and NO SHOWERS!!! UGH! I felt disgusting, until my mom and sis (both nurses) brought me a basket from B&BW of Cotton Blossom spray, lotion, and anti-bacterial gel. I probably REAKED of the stuff, but at least I didn't smell like the hospital stench. I had to wear this blanket/lovey called a Snoedel that captured my scent, and then they would use it to cover Megan in her isolette. They said this way she learned my scent when we were away from each other. Of course, it picked up the Cotton Blossom scent, and to this day, if you pick up her Snoedel (a treasured keepsake) it smells just like it---and it reminds me of all those days. Always brings tears to my eyes when I smell it! The pacifiers they used in the NICU also had a scent to them---vanilla to help induce their hunger sensations when teaching them how to eat when she was a feeding tube. It was the only kind of pacifier she would use even after we came home, so obviously I saved a few when she was done with them. They still have a faint scent of the vanilla to them, and when I smell it, it takes me right back to our days in the NICU--how funny it is that smells can make you recall memories so much! Thanks for sharing that!

Tom and I have already planned a little Lost party--can't wait to see what happens! I will remain MUM about it until Saturday when we can "talk" about it! Enjoy your night with your hubby too!!!

They do have some new scents at B&BW. I was just in there a couple of days ago. It also reminds me. One year DH and I were at WDW and we took the boat ride from DTD to POFQ & POR on the boats. It was evening, not crowded, quiet and so romantic. On the boat we kept smelling the most wonderful scent. The driver told us it was the night blooming jasmine that grows along the banks of the canals. DH loved it too. I came home and found some night blooming jasmine scents at B&BW. I bought it and it is a pretty similar scent to what we smelled at WDW. I still wear it now and then and remember our trip and our wonderful boat ride. BTW....our twins were 6 weeks early premies. I used the scent thing with them also. I also put my chosen scent on their sheets at home so they would sleep better. Don't know how well it worked but they are healthy, happy 27 year olds today!

I just got all caught up on the PTR and am in hook, line and sinker! :goodvibes I love all of the heart-warming family stories and how you treasure every moment with them! I wish I could comment on everything I've read, but it would take forever so I'm just going to put in my $ .02 on the B&BW scents - my absolute FAVORITE is the wild honeysuckle! It's so refreshing - I think I may use it as my "Disney Scent" this trip now that you've given me the idea to do so. Thanks for all of the tips you've given in your report - I've taken lots of notes! Hanging on for the rest of the pre-trippie and CAN'T WAIT for the trip report!!! Here's some pixie dust for your trip! pixiedust:

OOOHHH!!! I am definitely going to have to check out that scent! I've seen that in there before!! What a nice tip for a romantic boat ride!! Thanks also for sharing about your 27 yo "babies!" Megan came 9 & 1/2 weeks early, and at the time, we couldn't imagine that everything would be just fine for her later in life--it is always so refreshing to hear about great success stories! Thank you!

:yay: HI!!!! AND WELCOME!!!! Thanks for joining in on the adventure! CAN YOU BELIEVE WE WILL BE THERE IN 9 DAYS!!! I am getting very excited as you can probably tell from my posts! You are so right about how much we appreciate our family time together--when you are so close to losing everything--your family, your child, and your own life, you realign and put your priorities in order REALLY quickly!!! We don't take ANYTHING for granted anymore, and we just try our best to appreciate each other and our time together. I'm glad it is apparent! I will definitely check out the Honeysuckle scent when I go in!!! Thanks for the pixie dust!! I am hoping for some YOAMD dreams--like fastpasses, or a night in Cinderella's Castle! Here's to hoping!!!!! Thanks for joining! Talk soon, Jen

I got a phone call from Kristi this morning with some huge news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is it you say?

Do you wanna guess?

Is she pregnant?

NOPE!

Did she win the lottery?

NO WAY!!!!

Do you give up?

Okay, I'll tell you---Kristi was only going to stay until Wednesday because she wanted to fly home to see her husband for their wedding anniversary, BUT Justin (who is a Urology resident) found out that on his next rotation he will be on call on Wednesday--so she is going to stay until Friday and fly home then!!!! When we ordered her ticket from Undercover Tourist, she go two days free, so she has the tickets to stay already--SO YEAH!!! Kristi will be with us until Friday now!!! What a happy day!! Good news for all of us! Now we are trying to figure out how to get her added to our ressie so she can do the dining plan too--she was originally just going to pay OOP for her meals, but it will be a better deal to just pay for her dining plan.

Also other news--WEIGHT UPDATE!!! Sorry haven't updated on my weight loss progress lately--I HAVE HIT 20 pounds!!!!!! I am so excited!! I know it has taken a little long, but I feel like I am doing it in a safe manner where it will stay off for good!!!! So WOOHOO!!!!!! Just wanted to share!!! Tom said he can really notice now, so here's to lots more coming off too!!!

How exciting that Kristy gets to stay now! Your parents will have all of their children and grandchildren on the wishes cruise!!!! :cool1:

Whoops . . . looks like you already did! :) You go girl!!! Oh, and are we going to get to see pictures of you in your new clothes with your new figure this trip????? Hmmmm . . . hmmmm . . . miss "behind the camera"? I hope so - you should be so proud of yourself and all of your hard work! :goodvibes

Jen, Congrats and keep up the good work! I am sure you are very proud of yourself as you should be :)

Great news about Kristi so she will be there for the wishes cruises now right? Hope you don't have to much of a problem adding her to the DDP etc..

Happy single digits !!!!!!!

Happy single digits !!!!!!!

Thanks for all the CONGRATS!! I am proud, and I hope that helps me keep on going!!! We are excited about Kristi staying over--she just has to fix her flight info--I still think she will miss the Wishes cruise, but that all depends on how successful she is at switching her flight info. I have to take care of fixing the DDP--I don't think it should be too much of a problem. I'll let you all know how well that turns out! Wish us LUCK! Happy Single Digits is RIGHT!!!!!

I got the siggie changed!!! I can't wait until I can put up the one for hitting my goal weight--I guess I should figure out what that is?!?!?! I'm not really sure I know how much I want to weigh or should weigh. I'm 5'8"--does anyone know what the recommended weight is for that height? I just want to look better and feel better! I have been thinking of taking a picture of me in one of the shirts that I bought that started this whole weight loss thing and posting it here to get feedback on whether or not I should wear it down at WDW. It fits, but I think it is my self-conscious mind that has always been primed to worry about looking bad in clothes due to my weight that is making me second guess myself. I know you guys will give me honest feedback about it--so I will work on that and get it posted here soon!

OMG congratulations on your weightloss success!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're my hero! :worship: Now go and change that siggie! :wishtwenty

How exciting that Kristy gets to stay now! Your parents will have all of their children and grandchildren on the wishes cruise!!!! :cool1:

Thank you for the CONGRATS!!! You are too funny about the "hero" line, but I know what you mean--I often look back to people I have known that have lost the weight for support and reassurance that I CAN do it! So if I can be that to you, that means the world to me! We are all so excited about Kristi staying--I hope everything works out well for her changes in her flight plans!

Okay, I'll edit my congratulations to:

celebrating the single digit dance AND the weight loss! That's something to be proud of. :cheer2: :cheer2:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Your congratulations are so kind!!!!

Thanks to everyone--you all have been a great motivating force for me, and have helped inspire me to stick with it--even when I don't want to!
My goals started out so small--shrink down a little to fit into those Disney shirts. Now that I have reached that mini-goal, I am prepped and ready to take on more weight loss!!! My next goal is bigger--I want to hit my goal weight--whatever that is for a 5'8" female--by next summer. Then I want to renew my wedding vows with Tom on our 10th anniversary (July 24, 2009) in a great fitting dress!! Kristi suggested doing that on the beach--I don't care where we are, I just want to do that!! We have endured alot in our 10 years married (16 years together by then) and I want to celebrate my weight loss, our anniversary, and our ability to endure all these "storms" together over the past 10 (really 16) years. That is my next BIG goal--I KNOW I can do it!!!!!

Hurray for your weight loss! That's awesome!!!

It's also super great that your sister will get to stay longer.

What's the countdown, Jen??? :goodvibes
