Well, now that we have taken care of the big details--accomodations, dining, general itinerary, etc.--I get to focus on all the little details that I OBSESS over for months that bring me such joy!!! I think since I am a teacher by trade, planning, and re-planning, and OVER-planning just come naturally to me. This year is just slightly different for me because I not only get to plan and organize all the subtleties for my little group, I am also doing a couple of extra things for my brother and his kids. YEAH!!! It is like a VERY extended Christmas for me! (My family often makes fun of my OCD organization skills, but hey, it helps me keep my frenzied mind focused!)
First--CLOTHING
Yes, I am proud to admit I am one of those people who actually spend months thinking about what clothes I am going to pack for each of us. For Megan, I have gotten to the "BAD" expectation that she MUST wear something Disney related EVERY SINGLE DAY of the trip! I know it is crazy, but I have convinced myself that it adds to her enjoyment!

I am sure she really doesn't think about it much, but I do! For our trip in November, I was able to find a TON of Disney clothing at the
Disney store and at Kmart at the end of last summer on clearance! (YEAH GOOD BARGAIN!) Since she has actually lost weight (long story) and hasn't grown that much in height since then, she will actually be able to wear most of that again for this trip!

So Megan's wardrobe is pretty much already taken care of. The only thing I know I am going to need to get her are some new summer shoes/sandals, maybe a new swimsuit, and probably a new princess dress. We are taking Maddie and Megan to the BBB on Monday--06/09--at Cindy's Castle for the $50 makeover with the hair, makeup, and nails. We are going to bring dresses for them, but all of Megan's old princess gowns are going to be too small. The only problem will be having her decide on which gown she wants!!! Right now she says Snow White is her favorite, but we all know how quickly girls can change their minds!
Tom is VERY easy to pack for--he already has an assortment of Disney tshirts he has acquired over the past two trips, so he is pretty well set. He is not too finicky about clothes at all--just a tshirt and cargo shorts kind of guy! BUT, I have to make sure they are cargos--he has a thing for collecting maps and stashing them in the pockets. He will probably have collected over 25-30 maps in his pockets over the week we are there! The funny thing is that we know the place pretty well by now, and hardly even look at them, but nevertheless, he can't resist picking one up after going thru the gates!!
Now I, on the other hand, have been in panic mode about my clothing. After last November's trip, most of my shorts/capris were shot from a LOT of use! I have been waiting to go get some new summer bottoms, and finally did last week. I got a good assortment of capris (my fave for Disney), shorts, and this really cute white skort! I already had three Disney shirts from our previous trips, but decided I needed to get some more. (Last Nov, Megan got upset one day because I wore a regular shirt. She said, "NO Mommy! We are at Mickey's house--you need to wear Mickey shirts!") So keeping that in mind for this trip, I decided to purchase 4 more "Mickey" shirts so that I could be all Disney all week! I found a great sale on Disneyshopping.com, and got 4 great shirts--a Tinkerbell one, a Daisy one, a Mickey and Minnie one, and a "Believe in the Magic" tshirt. The weird thing about the shirts was that even though they were all the same size, the Tink and the "Believe" shirts fit a little more snugly than the other two--which fit just fine. SO, I decided that I really did like the shirts, and would just try to lose a little more weight before the trip so they will fit better. (Who doesn't need to lose a little weight?!?) So this predicament has actually gotten me to research some nutrition and fitness websites to give me a jump start on losing the weight. Although last week's illness has delayed me for a little bit, I am still working hard on losing the pounds. At last weigh in, I lost a little over 5 lbs. (yeah) but that is a good start. I will weigh in again on Saturday, and will update you all then!!
My next BIG issue for clothing for me was SHOES!! I am a faithful, die hard fan of my New Balance gym shoes. I swear they are the ONLY shoes that leave my feet feeling good after a long day of walking and standing. They are the only athletic shoes I wear/buy. BUT, I know that since we are going this year in the summer heat and humidity, something open like a sandal would be cooler. So, a couple months ago I started researching and looking for help here on the boards for good sports sandals. I have VERY sensitive feet, so I needed something with good support, but open to keep cool. After much research, I decided on the Teva Terra-Fi sandals. I ordered them recently off the Sierra Trading Post website for a good price. Now, I just got them in and haven't really tried them out. I am hoping to start wearing them around the house and out and about around the town to break them in! Wish me luck! I hope they are everything I am hoping for!

I also purchased on a fluke a pair of Mary Jane
Crocs that were being clearanced out at Dillard's for $7.49! Crocs were one of the other types of sandals I looked at while researching sandals. I have been wearing them around the house, outside, to a Reds game, and have been pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are. I am not sure if I will wear them a LOT at WDW, but I thought they would be a great backup! HECK, they weren't even $8! You can't beat that! The only thing I noticed was that my feet got really sweaty one day while outside--I didn't know if it was just a fluke, or if they will make my feet sweat all the time, but they still weren't too bad!
Second--Travel Accessories
Every time we go to Disney, I think long and hard about what type of bag I want to take with me into the parks everyday, and what I really want/need to take with me. On our first trip, Megs was still in diapers, so we did a big backpack with all the "diapering essentials." In November, no diapers--smaller knapsack that I made out of some cute Mickey fabric I found at a fabric store. It was really light weight, but I got tired of having to always take it off my back to get into it. SO, this year, I wanted another new bag. I knew that I didn't really need something too big, because I have cut down ALOT on what I take into the parks each day--I just found that there was SO much stuff I didn't use/need. So I decided on the Vera Bradley hipster based upon some good reviews by people here on the boards. I found a great one at a REALLY low price on ebay, and won it! YEAH!! I didn't even pay $20--shipping included! It is great because it is a sling bag that isn't very heavy or uncomfortable at all! I will easily be able to get into it without ever having to take it off!!! Here is a list of what I think I will probably be putting in it:
--3 disposable ponchos--the small folded ones from the dollar store
--My mini first aid kit--it has a couple band-aids, travel packets of pain relief and Immodium AD, moleskin, chapstick, small tube of sunscreen, and small bottle of Purell
--A small package of wipes/wet ones
--our digital camera (It is so small and also is a camcorder. It is the greatest camera for DISNEY!!)
--Our extra camera battery
--My ID holder that holds ID, KTTW card, fastpasses, etc.
--Extra ziploc baggies
--cell phone
We always take Megan's Mac Volo stroller that has this great accessory organizer on the back of it--I put her autograph book with pen and an extra change of clothes for her in a ziploc bag in the organizer, and it has two cup holders to hold our bottles of water. In the bottom basket, we put a small collapsible drink cooler with bottled water in it.
Please let me know if you think I am missing something important!!
Last November, I also made a small knapsack for Megan in this cute Buzz Lightyear fabric--she is really in a Toy Story phase right now. She loved it! She can pack her own snacks, sunglasses, etc. and wear it around without it weighing her down or bothering her. This gave me the idea to spread a little magic to my niece and nephews this year--I decided I would make them each their own knapsack for the trip. I took them to the fabric store, and they each picked out neat Disney related fabrics and embellishments for their own bag. I am now in the process of making them--which doesn't take too long--and then I am going to fill them with a few little treats for them for the trip. I promised my brother I would not give them the bags until we get there though, so that he doesn't have to worry about them losing it before the trip. I brought them each an autograph book back from our Nov trip--and my bro said that he is keeping them safe until we get there. I think I will get them Disney pens, their own disposable ponchos, some basic snacks, and something else Disney related to put in their bags for an added surprise! I might try to get some of those $4.99 tshirts on disneyshopping.com so they each will have a Disney shirt to start out with! Any other suggestions would be GREAT!!!
The last bit of planning is my big trip to the DOLLAR STORE!! I know this sounds crazy, but I always go and do a big Disney run at some point before the trip to get some of the following things:
--Disposable ponchos LOTS AND LOTS
--Pop-up hamper (to put dirty clothes in)
--Hanging shower organizer--this is great to put all the bathing necessities in since I never have much room in those Disney tubs
--Glow necklaces A MUCH BETTER VALUE than DISNEY!!
--Small Disney themed trinkets for Megan for the car ride down and back--things she can do while we are driving
Whatever else I deem Disney worthy!! Does anyone have any other suggestions to add to this list?
Okay, well that just details some of my planning fun! Check back again soon to see what else we are up to! Happy Thursday, Jen
