Mom and Dad are newbies

Just a question for my mom and Dad, they might already know the answer but have not said anything, they were with us on the Magic 2/9/2002 and loved it so much, they joined the DVC, if they are booked thru a TA on a trip next February, can they transfer the ressie to DVC or does the TA do all that work?, and how does the sharing of points work, can they share those points with family members?...

They can't just change a trip they have booked for cash into a trip for points. They could make arrangements for a trip using their new DVC points and then cancel the one they've already planned. The TA would not be involved in a DVC trip.

If they need TA-type assistance with planes, rental cars, etc. DVC Member Services can provide these services.

They can certainly share points/trips with family members. They just make the reservations.

OK, PamOKW thanks for your answer so quickly, so they can share the points? that is great, we are the ones that booked with a TA just to get the cabin we wanted, if Mom and Dad want to share those points with us do we have to transfer our ressie to DVC? we really want to keep this cabin... is there some way we can do this and keep the cabin we wanted?

When you say "cabin" are you talking about a Disney Cruise?

It doesn't really matter. There isn't any way to automatically transfer vacations you made through a travel agent or any other way using cash. What your parents can do is call Member Services to try and book the same or similar trips using their vacation points. They can always use the points to take trips themselves or to arrange trips for others.

If you are talking about a cruise, I don't know all the specifics about different levels, ground packages, etc., etc. but we've got lots of other DVC folks here with cruise experience.
