Mom and Dad and 2 Picky Kids do the DDP ~ With Lots of Pictures!

We love the Food Court at CBR. Shutters restaurant is really very good too! Looking forward to the Plaza review, we discovered that little gem of a place on our Nov. trip.:goodvibes

Hey Shelly-Welly-Bo-Belly!:)

The pics look just like I remember the place. Awwww- good memories!!
only... your pics weren't as crowded as I remember my trip being.:)

I stood at the grab n go one morning for....I'm not kidding....25 minutes (!!!) to check out! It was our only catastrophe there- our first morning before we went to the grocery store- so that's when we got the muffins that were as big as Drew's head.:rotfl: After that- I had my resort mug so I'd hop in for coffee and bolt.

we didn't order anything else- so it's good to see and hear your opinions.

Looking forward to The Plaza.

Jo

It was never crowded when we were there! :goodvibes That was so nice because the parks sure were crowded!

Yep, those muffins (and cookies) are HUGE!! :thumbsup2

We love the food court too! We haven't tried Shutters yet, but look forward to it someday!

Oh I am looking forward to hearing about the Plaza. I have this down for us on our trip in May. We have never eaten here before so it will be great to hear your opinion!

The Plaza Restaurant

Normally when we eat a TS in MK it is the Crystal Palace - whether it be breakfast or dinner it is always great! But we do like to try new things and decided to go with the Plaza Restaurant this time. The Plaza is one of those places that you just don't hear a whole lot about. I read what info I could find on the place and it seemed like it would be a quick in and out place with basically sandwiches and ice cream. I was looking for something fairly quick since we wanted to see Spectro that evening and it was at 7:00. So I made an early 4:30pm ADR for the Plaza hoping to be out of there by 5:30 at the latest to get a spot for Spectro.

We got there at 4:25 and waited in a line to check in. We were told we would be called shortly. I'm going to say it was a good 15 minutes before we were called. Probably the longest we waited past our ADR time all week. So we sat on a little bench right outside of the restaurant. DH kept saying he didn't know why we had to wait because he could see an empty table right inside the window. Sure enough when we were finally seated that was our table! And it was a great table by the window and we could see the castle out the window. The Plaza is very pretty inside, although very crowded. Lots of tables very close together. Our waitress came after a few minutes. She was okay. Not the best waitress we ever had, but not the worst either. Service was pretty slow considering what we ordered. I got the "Grilled Chicken Sandwich - grilled chicken breast topped with shaved ham and swiss cheese served on a flour-dusted Kaiser with chips $11.99", DH got the same thing only with fries. DS9 was out of luck - no pizza here! So he got the grilled cheese and fries. Which he liked very much and I was glad to see him eat something other than pizza! DS7 didn't like anything on the menu. Imagine that! The kid's choices are grilled cheese, hamburger, pb&j sandwich (he's the only kid in the world that doesn't like pb), and Mickey's turkey sandwich on wheat. So I asked the waitress if he could just have the wheat bread that would come with the turkey sandwich. Just a plain sandwich! And she said - well yes, but I will have to charge you for the sandwich. No kidding. What did I care, we were on the DDP anyway! With his "bread sandwich" he got apple slices. The kids each got an appetizer with their meals too. DS9 got the side salad, which DH ate. And DS7 got some grapes, which we all shared.

DH and I really liked our chicken sandwiches. I was more excited about the desserts here though. I already knew that I wanted the "Brownie Sundae - vanilla ice cream and a fudge brownie topped with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry $5.99". DH got the same thing. I thought it was just okay, not really what I expected. The brownie just tasted stale or something. I was a little disappointed. DH thought it was alright. The kids got mini chocolate chip cookies with milk for their dessert and they were thrilled! They love dipping cookies in milk!

We were pleased with our experience at the Plaza, even though we were in there a little longer than we would have liked. The food was very good, except for the brownie! And it is a lot less expensive than most TS places if you are paying OOP and looking for a nice TS meal.

The Plaza Restaurant

Overall 4 out of 5
Food 4.5 out of 5
Service 3.5 out of 5

Up Next ~ Another trip to CBR OPR Food Court and then Big River Grille

My dd too does not like PB&J and has often had just a bread sandwhich when there was nothing to her liking! LOL!!

It looked like they gave you a nice size portion of grapes and apples. Most places seem to give only a couple.

Thanks for the review!!

That's funny! I thought my DS was the only kid that eats plain bread! :rotfl:

Yes, the portions were very generous at the Plaza!

Yep- been there with the bread sandwich too!:rotfl: At least it was Mickey shaped. :lovestruc

We liked the plaza when we ate there awhile ago. I ordered the salad. My kids loved their dessert too.

Glad you liked this place---
omg- that's a record-- we're now agreeing on two!:rotfl:

Can't wait for BRG!

Jo

We discovered The Plaza on our last trip, LOVED it! We had the Club sandwich which was excellent and the french fries there were awesome, piping hot and crispy, and we're not big french fry lovers. DH had the banana split and said it was :thumbsup2

Hi Shelly,
We were going to eat at the plaza this trip but I total forgot about it, till we were leaving MK at night. LOL
When we were at DTD I thought the dublins smelled good too.
I think DD had those nasty cgicken nuggets somewhere else in the world.
I will have to ask her.

I'm so sorry I haven't posted...I just got all caught up and I'm loving your reviews!!

I have to say I agree with you on the 1900 Park Fare...character interaction was fantastic but I wasn't thrilled about the food!!!

Thanks Jen! :goodvibes

I know, I am having a hard time keeping up with everyone's reviews too!

Loving the reports...especially since you've done a lot of places we haven't, so I love hearing other peoples opinions. I have a hard time getting my hubby to try new things, every place we ever go is "tradition" so we return. I guess we'll keep doing that until we have a bad experience somewhere. This trip, we had no disappointing TS meals, a few bad QS, but nothing major. It was probably one of our best "food" trips.

I cannot wait to hear about Big River Grille. I really wanted to try it but another one of our "regulars" kicked it off the list!

Sorry about TH and CoD Shelly. :guilty:

We are trying TH on our AK day - basically just to get us in the AK a little early :rolleyes1 I hope that we can find some stuff that we like - if not, no biggie. The DxDP is very forgiving - you'll never run out of credits. :rotfl:

I wanted to try the Plaza this trip - but now I don't know if we would like it very much.... We are definately going to try Casey's after your review! DH is drooling over those mini corn dogs - lol

popcorn:: Waiting for more...

 What's next?

:dance3: Maybe it will be here soon...

popcorn:: Still waiting...

:flower3: Thanks.

I know it's hard getting the family to try new places. If my kids had their way we'd always stay at the same resort and eat at the same restaurants! :rotfl:
