Mom´s - Did you get severe heartburn EARLY in pregnancy?

actually I should have said pepcid ac not complete. I think I took some pepcid completes in between my pepcid ac doses.

I had that problem. I found that vanilla ice cream helped it, too. Unfortunately, the ice cream didn't help my weight at all! :headache:

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and have had pretty bad heartburn for the past 2 weeks. The Tums smoothies are a large part of my diet right now. I had heartburn pretty bad early on with my DS, too. It did go away in the second trimester.

Horrible, HORRIBLE morning sickness the first trimester, and then horrible heartburn after that. LOVED the jumbo fruity tums. And yes... I did have a girl with a full, wild head of red hair!

Yes, with both. With DD (my second pregnancy), I got nasty heartburn before I could have even tested with a pregnancy test!!!!

Yep pretty much from day 1 with both pgs, which was made all the worse since the majority of my craving were for extremely spicy food! Tums was my friend.

I never had heartburn with either of my pregnancies that stuck. Instead I got blessed with "morning sickness" that started right at implantation and lasted until birth. After my ds was born, I bought in to that not all pregnanies are the same crap, and then I had hyperemesis the second time around too. If we have any more children, they will be adopted.

SEVERE heartburn is how I knew I was pg both times. It came on the day after my period was late, and it was SO bad. That was my only pregnancy symptom for the first couple of weeks, other than not getting my period. My twin pregnancy I ended up in the ER with heartburn so bad it made my esophagus go into spasms. Talk about pain!!!! I took Prevacid almost the entire pregnancy.

I had hyperemesis too. Except mine did not start until week 8. I ended up taking Zofran twice daily until the day I delivered just so I could get out of bed and function. I threw up more in a 3-week period of my pregnancy than I have the entire rest of my life combined.

Oh yes indeedy. I was on a Diabetic diet from day one, so there was only one brand of antacid I could use; the name escapes me at the moment.

You know what they say about heartburn....more heartburn = kid with lots of hair on his/her head! Was actually true for me- first and third no heartburn (lots of morning sickness and preterm labor with the third)....blond, blue eyed and not much hair. Second and fourth- lots and lots of heartburn and two of the darkest, hairest headed babies every! Also had extreme morning sickness with second....hospitalized three times with DD15, but her labor was a piece of cake!!!

Good luck and start buying those combs and brushes....oh, and be SURE and keep a diary of all of this. You will need to read it to them as punishment when s/he comes home late as a teenager. Revenge is the BEST! (Mom to DD19, DD15, DS11 and DD10 on Saturday!)

All the time! My morning sickness just felt like heartburn all the time! Ech.:sad2: That sucked! My prayers are with you on this one! I drank a ton of milk, and did not take my prental vitamins during the day as it agitated the situation. When I took them I did so with OJ as the Vitamin C helps your body absorb the Iron which is what makes you feel sick after taking them!

I had heartburn with both kids.
It was worse with my second child, my son!
Had a bottle of Tums near by at all times and a package of Saltines on my night stand. For some reasons those crackers helped.

Yep, with all three! And, the moment they were born, it went away!:thumbsup2

My heartburn started even before I knew I was pregnant! I never had heartburn before, and only a handful of times since, but I had heartburn nearly every single day I was pregnant. DS was born with a headfull of hair so maybe that old wive's tale is true.
