"Disney's Grand Floridian Resort treated for mold
Mar 4, 2008
Beneath Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa grandeur was a growing mold problem.
The issue came to light when guests detected a musty odor when checking into their pricey room. They found the telltale black powdery residue of mold and relocated to a different resort.
The mold was found behind the Grand Floridian's wallpaper and had spread in the hallways and guest rooms. While often harmless, mold can trigger reactions among those with asthma, immunity or lung problems. Certain molds can be toxic.
Upon discovering the mold, Disney hired a water damage restoration company to remove it. According to Joan Manangu, of the Walt Disney World Resort "The mold issues have been remedied." "

Any other resorts have mold problems ?
Do you think they will be de-molded too ?

Had a room like this at the Poly in 1999 and asked to move. Had one in 2007 at the Dolphin and the Bell Hop actually mentioned it first and had us moved. Even had one at the Westin in our town (San Antonio) and had to be moved. It's Florida so I think it just can't be totally avoided. If a room smells musty or you see mold just inform the desk and ask to be moved. I really doubt that any of it is the toxic stuff but you never know?

Does it have more to do because of the wall paper?

I had mold in my initial room at the WL. If you want, when I get home from work, I'll even show you a picture of it!
