Mojito Monkey Mama's 2 cont'd

It was a 5.2 magnitude earthquake. I was trying to post an article about it from the paper but the link would not post right. You can go to chicagotribune.com to read about it more.

I hope everyone in Illinois is ok. I hadn't heard about the earthquake til today. How severe was it?

I'm a Jersey girl. I've got the accent to prove it. ;)

Work has been crazy busy for me. I think trucking picks up in the warmer weather. All I have to is listen to my boss go on and on about the price of fuel.

Mom2Evie, how's the last day on the job? Nancy, do you have another job planned or is it one of those cases where you just have to leave for your own sanity?

I was busy last night with a Den meeting for the cub scouts and tonight it's a pack meeting. The good thing is no meetings, no sports and no school for Colin next week. It'll be almost like a vacation. :cloud9:

Oops my bad I had a blonde moment I don't know why I thought you were from Ill. :guilty:

Yes my own sanity but we will see when I get back where things are Mike is going to have it out with his granddad and grandmother and if worse comes to worse he will be quitting too.

That bad Pooh? Got the message you called. How are the doggies?

LOL...you aren't as bad as the other half who calls me from work because he and a customer was talking Disney and they want a quote. I need to start charging for services rendered or just go get a job with they Disney company. Do you know how many times I have heard either from CM's in the park or on the phone "You are really knowledgeable about Disney, how come you arent working for them?" :rotfl:

Posting fluff cause I want to try out the siggy (which I know is too big..anyone want to fix it for me?)

I'm from Illinois and nobody here felt a thing, and nothing moved or fell either. My dogs slept through it just like they would had a burgler broke in. lol I am waiting to feel an after shock and so far nothing. Oh well I felt a real earthquake in California one time and that was enough for me.

Evie, Glad to hear you are finally moving on to bigger and better things.

Pooh, Sorry to hear that the theif is back. I remember you talking about that before and thought he was gone for good too. One thing I have learned about family is they will do what they want no matter how stupid and senseless it is and they don't want opinions about their stupidity either.

We just had a driver quit with us. Didn't bother to tell us till we found out, two days after he picked up his load, that he failed to deliver it to the east coast. He stole the $1200 he had for fuel and a bunch of other stuff out of the truck on his way out too. Just to be a jerk he stole all the paperwork and truck permits. He did finally answer his cell phone when my DH called him a few days later and told him he was holding the stuff for ransom till he got his back pay. He was shocked to find out that he committed a federal offense and the police were already informed. The problem is the police won't go looking for him they just wait till they catch him speeding or what not and see he has a warrant out for his arrest. Sadly, he took more than he was owed as well. Just wanted to say that so you know that theives are everywhere. Just be sure to hide your purse should you chose to keep working for the shop.

Vixie,
I like the sig it's cute and it seems to have come out the right size.

I am a little less stressed since most of the bills have been paid. I did find it amusing when we called and left a message for the landlord that the rent for next month was ready and they were here in about 1/2 hour to get it. And very relieved that photopass is extending my pics for another 30 days (I only asked for 9 more days) We were having to chose...cool pics I cant replace OR FOOD for the next 2 weeks.

I have been productive yesterday and today. Got some of the front porch painted. (the ditzy land owners gave me less then 2.5 gallons to do an entire front porch with-bare wood:sad2: --we just went and bought it ourselves.) This way I got the pick the color I wanted. The other color was way ugly. When the guy said " but I gave you a bucket full to do the one part" Not enuf says I, I dont want to do a half-butt job on it and have part one color and part another. Thinking to myself while I say this....like you kinda did on the kitchen dude:sad2: (I could see IN the door frame-like inside the walls in--I finished that off myself)

They pretty much leave us alone since we pay the rent on time and dont ask them for much. The girl is a fuss ball tho.."the grass looks burnt" DuH! the grass is dead since winter is just over. Tell her, We are going to reseed next month once it warms up permantently(was kinda my fault since we were lazy and didnt rake last fall--great mulch tho:thumbsup2 ). Sees my cat in the upstairs window. "dont you scratch the screen cat" I tell her no prob, I will just put in a new screen. She worries about stupid stuff instead of the porch falling down.

NOw just to finish the stuff for the SA and I am free for a few weeks (except for your party Pooh) I will get hold of all you who said they would help next week on that.

Pooh,
Hopefully, things will work out for the best but I really do understand your frustration.

Vixie,
Ok I voted for Justin. I do have to say though that I don't understand why you can vote over and over repeatedly all day long till 4/21? Heck if I were Justin I would sit on the computer 24/7 voting for myself over and over till it became an obsession that drove me so crazy I would no longer be mentally sane enough to win the prize. lol I hope he wins!!!

Yeah, I think it kinda a weird way to win too. The contests at the park should at least count for a minimal amount of votes ...like 1st place 10, 2nd -5 and so on. He is a teacher so I am sure his students are spending lots of time on the puter. :goodvibes

Last day on the job went very well. My boss only spoke to me when he absolutely had to but at least he was polite. I finished up a big project that I was working on & did the knowledge transfer at the end of the day.

The senior director found me today before I left. He apologized for my boss' behavior & attitude in the meeting on Monday. He said he'd have quit too after that experience. He told me that it wsa "eye opening" and he'd be dealing with it. He asked if the company had an opening for my skills in the future, would I be interested. I responded, "On another team? Absolutely." It's a good feeling to have left on a high note, having not burned any bridges.

In other news, my BFF Kandi (cymbaldiva) booked her plane ticket today for the free dining trip. SouthWest Airlines finally opened up September bookings. They have tickets for Evie & I out of Norfolk, going down $73!!! I don't want to buy her a ticket until Kevin agrees that she can go.... but I don't want to ask him until she gets a smashing good report card next week. What to do, what to do!?!?!

Hi ladies, I am sorry for not being around but there have been a lot of things going on. I will not bore you with the details but I think you all would agree that they were even more important than even this thread and I love this thread. :lovestruc

I slept through the earthquake but many around me were all a dither. I sort of 'saw' one of the aftershocks as I happened to glance at my big screen (dark) as it hit and could see it shiver. :scared1: I live in a Moravian community and there is a large community of them in West Salem, ILL where the epicenter was. From what I hear other than a bit of property damage it was not too bad. Lots of folks calling for earthquake insurance around here. We have ours. :worship:

mickeyvixie, I hope you prime that bare wood before painting it. It will soak it up and then peel and blister later if you do not. If I had ever had renters like you I would still be a landlord. When I was a renter I was like you though. I could do wonders with a roll of Contact paper and some paint. Landlords fought over me. You sound like you should be thinking of owning one of these days. With your skills you could buy a fixer upper and do well. :worship:

Pooh, I am sorry to hear about your job problem. I would not want to work with someone like that either. I think the business should cut their losses cause there are sure to be more. It is bad for the morale of the rest of you all too. BTW, it is 09/08 that Spectro is scheduled when you are going to be there and it will be at 8. I will stake out seats by 5:30 or so. Wave as you pass by and I will see you before it begins. (You too, Ants and anyone else)

One thing I have learned about family is they will do what they want no matter how stupid and senseless it is and they don't want opinions about their stupidity either.
Ang, you are very right BUT they do want your money and/or help.

I will give an attempt to answer more of this thread tomorrow. I am wore out tonight.

Mom2Evie, I guess you and I were posting at the same time. It really sounds as if your last day on the job went well, in spite of 'some people'. You came out on top being asked to come back, if you wanted. I am sure your old boss will learn that too and hopefully the company will find somewhere else for him, like China. I hear they need a lot of workers there. His business style should go over well there too. :rotfl:

Ang, I forgot to comment on the driver. Anyone that stupid is sure to get caught up in one way or another. Did he happen to be bonded? Please keep in mind that I have a teenage grandson who will be looking for a job one of these days and since he has been driving everything since he was about six and his other granddad is a truck driver he may well decide to go in that profession. :rolleyes1

mickeyvixie, I had a daughter who was difficult. All you can do is love them and pray, hard!!! :rotfl: She still does not treat me well but she has a good job, lives a good life and most importantly of all, does not live with me. She gave me two beautiful grandsons who do love me though so all is forgiven. :lovestruc If I had to choose between HAVING a difficult teen or being one myself I would rather be the mom, grey hair and all. :thumbsup2

The difficult part about the senior director & my boss is that they're brother in laws. My boss married the director's sister. I found out today though that they're getting a divorce. I had no idea and I genuinely feel badly for Boss. However, a troubled family life doesn't give you the right to mistreat people you should be managing & mentoring. It was a bad fit from the beginning and I'm better off for having gotten out. Thanks though!

Glad to hear you made it through the shake up barely even shook up.

WELL NOW YOU TELL ME! :rotfl: OH well it only has to last till summer of 2010. We have a "move where it doesnt snow" goal

Thanks for the compliment. I didnt think to take pics of the before. Umm..bare wood framing on front and one side, gray floor, white window frames, chipped wood post and rail on the other side(white and gray), dark beige door, yellowish door frame, not to mention the large sections of the red brick surrounding the door which is a "lovely" shade of dark forest green (not neatly done just brushed on willy nilly) OH and the multicolor gray/pale green/ yellowish wooden steps that have one of those gold metal step edgers on the top step only. :sad2: AAARRGGGG!!!!!!! I couldnt take it anymore. I dont know how my landlords lived here 3 years and handled that. Then again, the girl once was surprised that we were using the front porch. Apparently they never did except for the grill.:confused3

mickeyvixie, I had a daughter who was difficult. All you can do is love them and pray, hard!!! :rotfl: .

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 me???? I need to go back and see what I said now....LOL

Well gals, I don't know how to edit and add each of those posts that I want so I will just say this to all:

You all are the best moral support some one could have!11:grouphug: :grouphug: I had another blow out with the boss up front who is one of the ones that hired this idoit back and he swears it wasn't him that did it but I know for sure that it was ( i over heard the whole thing on in my boss's office) so this guy knows where I stand now so we will see what happens when I get back!!!

Mom2Evie I am so glad that your last day went so well and that the BIG Boss saw what has been going on all along. GOOD FOR YOU GAL!!!:thumbsup2

To all who made it through that earthquake thank god you are all alright!!! I was so worried.

Okay I know i am going to miss some one and I am sorry !! But as you all know my mind is far far away from here I leave in the morning and arrive at HOME at 10:30 so I have so many things to do today as in I am going to go look at flowers for the wedding and hopefully get that done yes finally:scared1: go get dog, chinchilla and cat food, clean my kitchen and my bathrooms up and finish packing and go to sleep early then I will be doing the happy :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: and sleeping on :cloud9:

Linda, Of course family and friends will take money but don't want the advice or to ever have to repay it either. :rotfl:

Just let me know when you grandson is ready to work. Our loads are all Chicago area going to New England but were is willing to try to route the guys other places if they desire. I don't think your that far out of Chicago are you? Sadly with gas prices where they are the business is not as lucrative as it once was and a lot of the little companies have gone under since 9/11.

Evie,
It's good to hear your last day you got some sense of pride when leaving and no bridges were burned. Hopefully, the new job will be rewarding for you.

Nancy and Timmy,
Enjoy the world and then come back and tell us all about it. I know you will have a blast. :thumbsup2

Angela

Pooh & Timmy, weather is now perfect. Hopefully the crowds will thin out tomorrow. Hope to meet up with you:thumbsup2
Bon & boys

Linda-do we still have a state?:lmao: :rotfl2: My sister said the windows rattled all the way up north:scared1:
