I was just wondering (and I know there's been a thread on this before) but what's happened to our mods? I appreciate they have lives but does anyone else agree that we really need some new mods, or just some more so the ones we have at the moment can have some help. Don't get me wrong I'm not down-grading the current mods, because they're the ones who've made the Teen DIS the way it is today, but I just feel maybe it's time for some new ones?
:D

Many threads about getting new mods have been started. They've never ended well.

Tara and Travis have lives, just like we do. Their's can get pretty busy. Two people can't monitor this forum 24/7, and the Webmasters have many other forums to watch over.

Give them credit. They do a wonderful job when they come on here. When they're busy, other posters break up any arguments or help with any problems we have.

that's what I've said-I totally appreciate they have lives so it must be hard which is exactly why they probably need some help!!
and please i don't want to offend anyone but I think everyone's been thinking the same thing!

And here we go again lol.

Though, I must say...they really do do their job. There have been one or two posts recently and a thread or so that have been far from appropriate. I reported them and I promise you, not even a minute later, the post/thread were gone. I have also seen posts by some of the teen mods. They are here. We don't need new mods. I once thought we did, but now I know we don't.

I suggest we let this thread alone lol.

I agree. I used to think there was an issue until I learned about the report button. That is the solution.

okay, well I was only sharing what I thought but obviously I'm the only person lol!

I've been told that when you report a post, mods/wms of other forums can see it. not just the forum the post is reported in. so I'm not sure if the report button fixes that we lack incredibly active moderation.

ugly ugly ugly.
thats how this is gonna end.

but I bet I'm not the only one who thinks we need new mods? Don't get me wrong I totally understand that Tara and Travis have lives and I respect that but I think it's time for some new mods or maybe even some more

I know it goes to other mods/webmasters. But when I report, the job gets done. Why overpopulate the DIS with mods if it is unnecessary? ;)

Seriously, our mods have been on more these last few weeks,I have no complaints with the time they're on.

becuase, I've done the forum thing. I've been everything from a poster to an administrator and back. When you're having to deal with problems that aren't in your area, its frustrating.

A mod from the crafts board doesn't know anything about any of the posters here. He/She doesn't know about our posting styles or if we're seriously being a problem or just being ourselves.

However, an active moderator here, does (or at least should.)

If mods here aren't active, who are you going to PM with a question about something on the tb? A CCB mod? Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. :confused3

Every mod should know what is against the guidelines and what isn't. A post/thread that is reported should be reported for reasons of being against the guidelines. It doesn't take a "teen" moderator to know what is appropriate and what isn't.

Our two moderators are active enough now to "stay tuned" to what is going on as far as things being "teen" appropriate. ;)

Okay, let me make an example.

I've been reported for the most benign things. Simply because some posters don't like me. I've been reported for a misquote. If that can put things into perspective for you.

Now, I think we all remember the Hall Of Fame ordeal that I put us all through recently. I got reported by 5 or 6 posters, to a moderator, for doing that. Now, if another moderator, from another forum, came along, not knowing anything about the posters that reported me, and not knowing anything about me, they would think that I was doing something to upset people. Luckily, a TB mod got the report, and I didn't get banned. Which, I could have if someone had misunderstood the situation.

That is why it is important to have moderators who are part of the forum moderating it.

Dang, I was sure I was gonna win next month.

Oh, I'm still doing it. The moderator that got the reports laughed at them. about half the reporters were..ahem...trouble makers. (and I mean worse than me. ;) )
