I am banned until December 30th which is after Christmas and my Birthday. I was trying to help someone and it resulted in a ban for giving out personal information. i do think it is not a fair ban but i am serving my time off as i was given by vmk and their staff. Mods please close this thread from any more posts

So you are saying they knew you did nothing and so they did it to you because they didn't like you? I am absolutely sure that what you said is incorrect. Did you tell anyone you were on Dis, VMKF, or any other sites? That is considered personal info. Whatever the reason was for your banning, it was not because they simply didn't like you.

Also i know Vmk_song helped probably put in a bad word he just had a huge problem with me because i have been banned before like yesterday For NO REASON AGAIN!! so im not sure and i would love to get a hold of vmk but they dont ever check their messages they ruin Disney for little kids by using the ban and not researching more before they ban

Ok, you stated that you were putting in random numbers. VMK staff probably thought you were providing a phone number or something which is definitely personal information. They would have no way of knowing whether it is "random" as you indicate, or if you are truly trying to give someone your phone number.

Just out of curiosity, how did you use numbers in vmk (since they're not in the dictionary?) - did you say ive, even, too? I'm not saying it's right, but if you were dictionary-dancing, that's a ban-able offense right there. Also, the numbers you put in sound like a birthday, which would definitely count as personal info. Sorry, hope the time goes quickly.

Hello, it's Raineforst... Arfy's older sister who is now also banned for a month due to this situation. Not too pleased about it of course, though I don't play vmk as much as I used to (World of Warcraft is just too addicting these days, lol), however I wish vmk would look at things more in context before they so casually apply bans to people. I see so many users that are obviously swearing/scamming/being inappropriately explicit, etc... and it upsets me to think the chances of them getting banned are probably equal to the chances that innocent and/or good-hearted players get banned for a misunderstanding, things taken out of context, being in a room where someone else did something wrong, and various other reasons. I was really looking forward to seeing all of the holiday stuff this year and playing on Christmas morning. So in any case, I sent a letter to vmk using the "contact us" feature, which as we know may not even be read before the ban is up, but you've just got to try and wish that the customer service that Disney is known for would show up in other parts of the company. Well, below is what I sent where it asks why you think the ban is unfair in an attempt for some sort of understanding... I can only hope for at least some sort of reply.

"Firstly, it was my sister who was banned and so now I (vmk name Raineforst) also cannot use vmk until Dec 30th. I obviously wasn't giving out any information on my character because I wasn't even on vmk. I find this to be quite unfair indeed. And now as to why she was banned. My sister (Arfy) and her friend were banned today "for giving out personal information". She said that she was randomly saying numbers, not giving out info. They were random, and looked at in context would not lead to the disclosure of anything personal or meaningful. Not an age, address, phone number or otherwise. Yesterday she was given a 2 hour ban for saying why she reported someone. A girl yelled "as hill" at her before leaving a room and my sister went to report her for obviously trying to swear. She had told someone what just happened and then got banned herself. In any case, she's a good kid. She doesn't give out personal info and she tries to help others and make vmk a better place. Perhaps saying why she reported that girl was a mistake on her part, and as it was a 2 hour ban it isn't so bad... though she was only trying to help and I can only dearly hope that you had banned the girl who said it and not just my sister. She is extremely upset over this month long ban, she doesn't so anything wrong on purpose. This ban lasts through both Christmas and her birthday, and as vmk is her favorite game, she is very crushed. I think that a warning or a message from a staff member would have been more appropriate for the situation so she could have explained herself. I fully support the banning of those who call people swear words and use sexually explicit dictionary dances and all that sort of thing, but this is not the case and if anything, I think the length of this ban is a little extreme considering no personal information was actually given out. And obviously I'm not too happy about receiving a ban myself over the issue. I hope something can be done about this, as it just doesn't feel fair and puts quite a damper on the holiday season."

raineforest, i really dont think VMK staff CARES ANY if a virtual game puts a damper on YOUR holiday, if they found she did something wrong, well by golly, they did the right thing.

I just read Avast's posts after finishing my post and I would just like to say the following...

When someone who loves vmk so much gets banned over a misunderstanding/accident/mistake or something they didn't do they tend to get extremely upset. You can't judge someone harshly for freaking out a little or seeming "immature". There's a moment of confusion and frustration... you'll wonder what you did wrong, you'll be upset, you'll want to cry, you'll wish you could turn back time, you'll feel like everyone's against you, and you'll express all these feelings and it's only natural. VMK will always give you their automated response of a "reason", but it doesn't always mean that the reason is valid or justified. And we all know that some vmk staff are friendlier than others and I have no doubt that there are staff members that dislike certain players just as there are players that dislike certain staff members. I don't think people should tell anyone who's upset like this things that make them feel worse... just sympathize, tell them you'll miss them, and wish them luck and hope they come back soon. That, in my opinion, is being mature and keeps the Disney spirit.

YCkid, I was banned because me and my sister live in the same house and it was our ip address that was banned until Dec 30th... and Avast... sure, they may not care about anyone's feelings or personal life... and it's obvious that you don't either, but seriously there's no reason to talk to anyone like that, especially on Dis. I'm not asking for arguments or seemingly rude/degrading comments... I'm just saying we're not happy about this and I'd rather contact them and have the .00000001% chance of a difference than nothing at all.
