Modifying Reservation

I have a current reservation for the fall. If I want to switch resorts at 7 months can I use the modify tool online at 8:00 when the 7 month window opens? If I need additional points for the new reservation will I be able to borrow to complete the transaction? I do have other points I can use - is it "safer" to make a new reservation and then cancel the one I made at 11 months? Thanks!

Nope, it will hold your reservation as you modify. You will actually need to confirm your new reservation before the old one is released. Yout can borrow points. I was so nervous using it the first time, but its super super easy. I've already modified several times and love not having to call in.
