Modify reservation online fail

Trying to add a day to a reservation I started yesterday (1/5-12 trying to add to the 13th). When I do the modify reservation it still only shows that I can book to the 12th. In addition to the no value rooms available debacle from yesterday and now this, I’m getting very disenchanted with DVC.

Nope. I kept trying until about 8:20 and gave up. Even tried signing out and signing back in.

I think I may know what the issue you were seeing was....though you would have been able to get the nights you wanted still. When you first do a search for dates it would show the 13th in blue as a possible check out date (you can't book the night of the 13th yet because that would be 8 nights out). When you get to the calendar beyond that it only shows the nights you can select rather than showing the checkout date. So it shows that you can book until the 12th but that is the night of the 12th, not the 12th being a checkout date. Both are doing the same thing though they show differently.

I did call at 9 and was able to add the night I needed. I did tell the MS rep who I talked to about not being able to modify it online and she was surprised. She said she would pass the problem along to the right group.

Jetsdad, I need to add another day tomorrow (I’m booking a 2 week vacation) so I’ll give your suggestion a shot. I just went out and looked at it again using the modifications button, and it states check in date and check out date. Very strange.

Yesterday we went online to add days to our 1/1/20 - 1/8/20 existing reservation and had no problem modifying to add through 1/12/20 checkout.
Just curious as to why you are adding day by day - since I knew I had blocked anyone from taking my villa when I booked my initial nights on 2/1, I just waited until it was open to add the rest of my days to reach 11 nights all at once which for me was yesterday.

Jetsdad, I need to add another day tomorrow (I’m booking a 2 week vacation) so I’ll give your suggestion a shot. I just went out and looked at it again using the modifications button, and it states check in date and check out date. Very strange.

It states that at first but then when it shows as available you need to only have the nights staying highlighted as you click the enter (or book) button. I hate that they do that as it is easy to misbook because of it.

Thanks for everyone’s help! I was able to add a day today. When the calendar showed up it only went to the 13th. When I clicked on the 5th as my check in date (which I didn’t do yesterday because I was so confused by the end date), then the 14th showed up as a check out date. No wonder I was confused yesterday!

And to answer the question about why I add on day by day, I’m OCD that way. Haha! In all seriousness, I do that because someone starting a new reservation today could book the 7th-14th. If I was trying to get a room that goes fast like a AKV value room I might miss out on it if I didn’t go in each day to add the room.

You still don't need to add day by day. I understand the OCD and it is fine to do it this way but you don't have to. Yes, someone could book the 7-14 today IF all of those dates are open, but that would be a totally different room than yours as you already have your room blocked because you already have the 7th as part of your reservation, so no new person could book your villa with a check in day of the 7th. If I were adding days right now, I would probably do day by day too, just because of all the odd value nonsense going on I do not trust DVC right now, but you really do not have to do it day by day if you already have that room blocked.

I am glad someone else said this about the nights needed vs checkin/check out day. When I am checking availability I sometimes get shown an extra night on the end, from what I actually wanted. It would seem to think I wanted the checkout day-night too. I thought I was losing my mind a few times.

Yep, just went through this, annoying and very poor programming.
