Moderators: Can we have a budget board dedicated to Disney Trips only?

This has been asked many times and my guess is that it is not likely to happen anytime soon.

The phylosophy is that any money you save in your day to day life, is money saved for Disney.

You likely aren't finding much in the way of Budget tips specific for Disney because there just aren't that many to sustain an entire board. If you have something specific you want to ask about, go ahead and ask.

It doesn't move fast enough to create enough talk to support a board. That sort of information is best on a blog.

I'd recommend visiting mousesavers. Then if you want to talk about what you find, this is a great place to get opinions on it.

I can't find much budget trip info.

All you need to do is ask. There is a seperate forum for codes and pins.
the budget board has had millions of threads on
1) how to eat cheaply at Disney
2) how much money to spend in the parks.
3) how to get cheap airfare
4) how to get free dining
5) credit cards that give disney perks.

There have been tons of threads on how to do disney on X dollars.
There a gazillions of threads on is "so and so' worth it.
On site vs. off site
car vs disney transportation

I can't imagine ny budget trip info that has not been addressed here.

What type of information are you looking for?

I love Mousesavers. I was wondering which coupon book is the best and most affordable. Especially for discounts on eating out.

The problem is there is no moderator for this board. At least not one that's been active in quite a long time.

I didn't find one that was worth it. I'd suggest watching restaurant.com for places like House of Blues and Giordanos.

IIRC, back when I first joined the DIS, this board was specifically for budget ideas... How to plan affordable trips, affordable things to do at Disney, budget friendly suggestions, etc., all focused on saving money on your Disney trip. Now it's more about saving money FOR your Disney trip, with the idea that any money saved in everyday life is more money for your trip. I liked it when it was full of ideas of how to do a Disney trip affordably, instead of how to pare everyday life to the bone, sell gold, join survey sites, etc. Not complaining... just missing the "old" budget board.

If these things are posted then these things will be on the board. If those who want these ideas/have these tips do not post them, then they won't be. Remember the threads on these boards are made by the members.

I think the main problem is that there are only so many ideas for how to do Disney affordably. After you frequent the board for a while, you see these same ideas discussed ad nauseum. No one would come to the Budget Board anymore if these same ideas were all that was posted here (I know I wouldn't bother to come her anymore). Maybe we need to ask the Mod to create a sticky thread where we can post ideas that only pertain to Disney trips and then when people complain about lack of ideas they can be directed to the sticky.

I agree with others that when it was just limited to Disney Planning this board was basically dead. This information is found on so many other boards that it kind of gets to be overkill. Although, I did just scroll down through the first page now and there are lots of Disney vacation specific budget threads....so the info is here, you just have to ask/search.

IF you are looking for:

Restaurant discounts- try the Restaurant board
Resort discounts- try the resort board
General park tips- try the theme parks board
Car rental/airfare discounts- Trnasportation board
Offsite discounts- try the other area hotels board
Universal discounts- try the Universal boards

There are lots of really dedicated people on all those boards who are a wealth of knowledge with money savings tips and ideas as well.

How about if the board was at least dedicated just to budget threads. I keep seeing threads that have nothing to do with a budget or saving money, it has become sort of just a hang out for people who like the budget board but want to post about anything and everything

A sticky would be pretty useless for a number of reasons.
  1. Deals and rules change often at Disney and the sticky would quickly become difficult to navigate.
  2. There are no active moderators on this board who could keep such a thread up to date.
  3. Nobody reads stickies unless they are directed to do so, after posting a question.
I'm also kind of surprised that it would be suggested that a budget forum on a Disney message board should confine all discussion about discounts and deals at Disney to a single sticky thread while allowing the body of the forum to be open to every topic under the sun EXCEPT Disney.

And if you are looking for chit-chat the go to the Community Board, not the Budget Board. The BB looks more and more like the CB every day. :confused3

Oh,I didn't mean that all discussions would be confined to the sticky thread, I just meant the basic money saving tips that get posted over and over and over could be on there for someone looking to have a lot of great ideas all in one area rather than having to go from thread to thread and post to post to get ideas. I mean ideas like...

*You can get free ice water at any of the parks just by asking,
*Many of the CS meals are large enough to share,
*Bring breakfast foods to eat breakfast in your room
