We are planning on sneaking into the world after our cruise in October, and won't have anymore DVC points left, so we'll be staying at a moderate for a couple of days.

I'm just looking for some advice from you learned people out there.

Our plan: arrive on Thursday, relax, go to MK on Friday, EPCOT on Saturday, go home on Sunday.

So since we'll be going to MK and EPCOT, weve ruled out Coronado, and narrowed it to Caribbean Beach or one of the Port Orleans.

Which of these three resorts do people prefer, and why? It's me, my wife and our 3 year old daughter who loves pools and water slides (but we're not going to a water park).

Everyone has their favorite Mod, so here is mine:

PO Riverside.

When we are not staying on points it's our first choice.

Nice pool and water slide, a great pool bar, lush landscaping, decent TS restaurant and a very good food court. Boat to DTD, watercraft rentals, good arcade, etc...

We like the Bayou section for the shade and quiet pools, but the mansions are a good choice.

Do any of these rooms have balconys? (sorry to butt in on this thread)

My kids LOVED the pool at CBR and the have a fun pirate ship kids pool! We enjoyed CBR too, great food, beautiful views!

PO Riverside for us too!! When my kids were little it was their fave and still is. We really feel like we're "home" when we arrive.

FQ is nice, but I like the fact that POR has quiet pools when your not in the mood for the loud music and pool parties:goodvibes

Boatwrights is great for dinner if you're looking for a sitdown meal at the resort. Still so sad they dont do breakfast there anymore:confused:

Happy planning:wizard:

Mark us down as another favourite for PO Riverside. The grounds, buildings are beautiful. We were in building 38 I think...Alligator Bayou and it was so quiet and peaceful...

Does Riverside have queen beds or full? The website says full. Thanks!

In Feb 2011 they had Full size beds...not sure if they changed that when they refurbed?

Both POR & POFQ now have queen beds as part of the recent refurb. I don't know if every building at POR is completed yet, but POFQ is.

Those two are my favorite moderates by far to stay at, with POFQ having a slight edge.

count me in on POFQ...small quaint and quiet. If your 3 year old is looking for bright colors, more people, big resort, then go CBR, CSR or Riverside. My family sees crowds all around the place while we are down there, but POFQ is a refreshing change of pace. The boat ride to Downtown is a perk that we use all the time. The pool and pool bar are just about the right size for the amount of people they serve. Both POFQ and Riverside have beautiful mainicured grounds as well and the jester that hangs out in front of building is a great lil guy! :thumbsup2

We've stayed at all of them and like them all- but choose different resorts for different seasons of they year- it's just something we like to do. If the double beds won't be a bit issue for you, then I'd pick CBR. We love the theming, the central courtyards in the 'villages', the main and quiet pools.

But if you need the queen beds, select another. Our second favourite resort is POR for it's theming and the added plus of the boat to DTD.

My family and I stayed at FQ for a little over a week in December 2011 and just got back from a week's stay at Caribbean Beach. We loved CBR!! We have 4 yo twin daughters and they loved the pirate ship water play area for the little ones and they loved that in the food court the chicken nuggets and hot dogs are served in a small pail with a shovel. My husband and I liked the food court as well and he is picky. We weren't sure if we would be ok with the full size beds there as we much perfer queen beds but they were fine. They were actually more comfortable than the beds at FQ - we thought the FQ beds were hard (maybe due to their newness?). We did like the small size of FQ and the boat to DTD, but we would choose CBR again in a heartbeat over FQ. One of my daughters even said after we were home, "I loved Caribbean Beach!" :)

We loved POR when we stayed there last year. The grounds were beautiful, the pool was fun and the food court was excellent.

DH and I love the FQ and stay there more often than not. Your little girl would love the slide there. It's a dragon's tongue! The newly remodeled rooms are nice and the bus stop is close no matter where your room is located. Also, you can pool hop from FQ and Riverside if that appeals at all. Riverside is a 10 minute walk away. When we stayed at Riverside, we had quite a long trek to get to the food court and gift shop. The rooms and atmosphere were really nice, but we prefer the smaller FQ. Whatever you choose, you'll have a wonderful time. Good luck!

Another vote for PPOFQ. It's my favorite. I love the small, intimate size and the grounds. The horse-drawn carriages definitely add a nice touch.

POR Riverside!! Queen beds, all rooms have been recently refurbed. We had a new room last August, in the Mansion section (my fav) in Acadian House next to quiet pool and bridge over to main pool :thumbsup2

Riverside pool is nicer, and has a better slide then FQ, more options in food court too. Beautiful grounds. Boat to DTD, and evening entertainment is fun.
