Who would you like to see running for POTUS instead of
Kerry and Bush? Many of you have said things like the"lesser of two evils", "closest to my beliefs". I put the question to you:
who would you love to vote for if you had a choice besides
the ones we will have?

I would love to see John McCain run for President, my dream ticket would be McCain/Powell. :cloud9:

I'll also be following the career of Barak Obama, I really liked his speech at the DNC.

Dean, but I'm a Vermonter and I've seen what he has done here....I tell ya, what a difference between him and this wacko we have now!

Before, it was all about women, children, heathcare....not any more, now it's all about what group has the most money, and whose kickin back the most!

Ask any of the 100's of vermonters who no longer have medical insurance due to the new fee's....our low income insurance went from a co-pay to a premium set up. These families, who are working but making minimal wages, are now paying monthly for insurance that they use 1-2x a year, instead of only paying co-pays when they use it. Amazing!

But, because I do not like Bush or Kerry, I will abstain from checking any box in this race...

Brandy

Some that I would like to see and hear more from include:

Senator John McCain
Senator Elizabeth Dole
Governor Bill Richardson
Governor Tom Vilsack

Richard

Dems, well, I think Joe Lieberman would've been a much better choice.

I like John McCain on the Republican side.

I tend to like politicians who aren't afraid to go against the party line (Zell Miller is another good example). Even if I don't agree with them, I can at least respect the fact that they have strong principles that do not depend on which way the wind is blowing.

Same here. Give me a politician who votes what is best for the country - not what will ensure he/she is reelected.

Who would that be in your opinion?

Interesting Zell Miller's name was mentioned. He was not elected to his spot but appointed when a Republican, Paul Coverdale passed away a few years ago. He is a democrat who supports GWB. Very Interesting.

Add me to the list that would like to know more about Colin Powell. He does seem more moderate. I also like John McCain but would like to see him in a VP role first. In the last election I actually liked Liberman much better than Gore.

Registered independent and voted for Bush in 2000. Not thrilled with either one. Anyway:

1. Rudy G. - 9/11/01. The media was reporting false story after another and Rudy G. was the only one I could listen to. I think he is articulate and a leader.

2. Evan Bygh(sp) - Indiana. Mayor, governor and senator. Working his way up to the presidency? Only time will tell.

Put a lot of thought into this, thanks for the thread. Ohio doesn't seem to have anyone on the rise except for Ken Blackwell (State Treasurer). Heck, even Jerry Springer is considering a run for the governor in 2006.

Not really sure at this time...there aren't too many politicians that impress me at the moment. Even though I was very impressed with Barak Obama.

John McCain or Colin Powell for the Republicans

Joe Lieberman or Zell Miller for the Democrats

IMO, they all seem to put the good of the country before the good of their respective parties and special interest groups.

SCARY. The exact same people I was about to type.

However, I don't consider myself a moderate. But when thinking about moderates that I like, those above come to mind.

Like many here, I like McCain. However, even before he decided to run for president, I also liked Kerry, having heard him speak at my brother's law school graduation. He struck me then as intelligent and thoughtful and I remember thinking then that those are qualities I like in a politician.

As others here have also said, I was impressed with Barek Obama's speech during the DNC.

I'm registered as Independent.

Orvilleair-have you noticed the mayor of Columbus, Michael Coleman? He 2nd Kerry's nomination but was not on network
television. He also spoke another time-again not on network-
about Columbus being a city of the future. We like him a lot here.
He ran unopposed last election.

I'm "voting" McCain as well and I consider myself more of the Democratic type.

Im registered as being Undecided.

I like McCain. I actually changed my registration from Dem to Rep to vote in the Bush/McCain primairy (PA is not an open primary state)

I am definitely a moderate. I would love to see Condy Rice run for president one day. She is truly brilliant. I like Elizabeth Dole a lot also.

Condy was Provost at Stanford University (I'm an alum) when I lived in the Bay area. She was probably smarter than anyone else at the Univesity - and that is saying a lot.

He is also a bully. 9/11 was his one truthful moment. He was great.. But the real Rudy came out a little while later. 9/11 was susposed to be primary day in NYC. The mayor is now limited to 2 terms and Rudy had to turn NYC over to someone else. So they had to cancel the primay that day. Rudy was trying keep his office--he wanted to be some kind of "co mayor" for a few months. The other politicians told him "no thanks". He would be an awful POTUS--any time things didn't go his way in NY, he ranted and raved. He cheated on his wife and then claimed she was a bad mother. Not a nice man.

I liked Lieberman. I am voting for Bush, but I wish Leiberman was on the ticket.

DH loves McCain, but he is also voting for Bush.
