has anyone ever stayed at moderate and regret it considering the time spent in hotel isnt much?

well the first time - yes - it was Sports and the front desk definitely had problems then.

the second time - no - it was Pop Century and I love it.

if you go knowing that there is no slide, no restuarant, no hot tub - and a ton of guests but less CM than in a moderate. you will be fine.

just don't expect it to be a moderate for less money. that doesn't work.

Really think you should give Pop Century a try.

well im already booked with all star music, i hear great comments on pop, but ive heard positive about music too.

I've stayed at both value and mod resorts. When we have gone together as a family of 4 it has worked out, by chance, that we stayed at the mods. When I have gone with just my youngest DD we stayed at the AllStars. This year it will be the 4 of us again but we are planning a 14 night stay and can't afford a mod for that long. I'm really worried that we will want to hurt each other being in such close quarters for that long. In fact it has become such a big issue for me that I'm looking at staying off-site:scared1: IMO, the only difference between value and mod is the size of the room. The other differences are so minor that I don't count them.

While I cannot vouch for ASMu, I CAN vouch for POP, which can't be too dissimilar.

You can tell the differences between the moderates and values, sure- you're supposed to be able to. But you know what you are looking for in a hotel and what you're needs are. If you need a restaurant, coffee makers, what have you- then you'll miss the moderates. If you do not need these things, then who cares! If my DH and I hit the jackpot deal, or needed to save some $$$, which as you can see from my list, definitely happens, I would do a value in a heartbeat.

Just know what to expect. :)

I was just talking about this again today. For our October 2007 trip we were originally going to stay at ASMu, we were able to find POR for the same time frame and about $400+ more - we figured, why not!

I have to say, I was dissappointed along with my husband and kids. My kids wanted to swim in the piano pool so badly and I switched thinking we'd enjoy a mod more. My husband said to me, "well Disney expert, what do you think, we just wasted a bunch of money and we aren't even happy". I'll never do that again. We just decided to stay at ASMU in Nov.

IMO it's deluxe or value. HTH

No, because we plan our days so some time is spent enjoying the resort and the extra amenities.

The biggest difference is the "extras". The rooms are pretty much the same size - except for the double sinks in the mods. The values don't have pool slides or table service restaurants. I found POR, at least, to be much more welcome respite from the insanity of the parks - but, especially if you have little kids, they will love the whimsical theming of the values.

Now, after staying at ASMu, ASMo and POP and staying at POR, I would pay the little bit extra to stay at the mods - just for the extra perks (think boat ride to Downtown Disney for example).:)

But remember - ANYWHERE on property beats off-site every time.:thumbsup2

I have stayed at all levels of Disney Resorts.

I prefer staying a value rather than moderate.

Mod vs. Values

POFQ is not as spread out as the other mods or the values.

POR CBR and CSR are very spread out.

The Values are laid out closer together.

The mods have pool slides, a hot tub and a sit down restaurant (POFQ doses not have a sit down restaurant but shares with POR.

I think there is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one.

here is the All Star room layout'

The mod has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.

To me that is not a lot of room size difference.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

no regrets, we stayed at All Star Sports had a great stay and also stayed at All Stars Movies had a great stay. No regrets.
:thumbsup2

I prefer the mods.

We stayed deluxe on our most recent trip (POLY) I don't regret it, but I would find it VERY hard to validate spending that much money again. I think my expectations were high because of the price and label.

I don't care for the values at all. I do prefer them to staying off site.

As far as dollar value goes I think the moderates win. I especially like CSR. I thought POR was lovely as well. I should note though that we have a rental car at both of those resorts.

We won't consider a value resort.

1. The noise levels--from what I have read they can be VERY loud

2. No king size beds.. we are empty nesters and this is a must for us. I am 6'3" and do not fit on a double and after being married for 20 years... well I don't sleep well unless wifey is next to me.

3. We scrimp and save for a vacation and like the additional comforts offered by the moderate resorts

So in answer to your question-no we have never regretted it.
