Moderate resort rooms have just basic locations now

I didn't mean it that way--I should have been clearer. I meant that if you had a not-preferred location (standard?) you could end up in building 7 with either a parking lot of river view. To me, there's a huge difference there.

And I do leave the shades open when appropriate and the view means a lot to me. I especially don't want a parking lot view because of the noise.
And that’s when you can request a river view if you’d like or a garden view.
It sounds like building 6 would be a good request for you.
No chance of a parking lot view. :)

Do you have success with your requests? I've been successful only at check-in. I'm happy to wait for a room I want and the front desk tries to be accommodating.

It'll be interesting to see what the choices are for online check-in.

Maybe a quarter of the time. So not very successful. Like you, I have more success moving once I get there.

We typically stay for two weeks, so a really good location is important to me. Because of that, I tell them I’m willing to move the next day or the day after and that helps. I don’t mind what view I get. I just want ground floor.

Two weeks! That's heaven!!!! We're usually there for a week and the ground floor is where I don't want to stay yet we often get assigned the ground floor and ask to be moved.

I hear you. Checking in is always the most stressful part of my trip. Lol.

I just hope we’re made aware of the locations of the new booking categories ahead of time so people can book the best choice for themselves.

I prefer ground floor and ask for it every trip. Been successful most of the time in the past 5-10 years. But this change has to be more of a benefit to Disney than the guest.

Fewer bookable categories definitely makes it easier for Disney to plug people into rooms. But it will be a benefit to some people.
