If you could stay at any of the moderates or at the Swan which one would you stay at and why? This will be our first trip to WDW and it has been a really hard decision as where to stay. Maybe we are just over thinking it. My husband got what we think is a good rate at the swan Sept. 13-20th. so now we are really considering this resort. Any input would be appreciated.:earsboy:

Swan. It's a deluxe hotel. It's located in the desirable Boardwalk area. It's as nice as any Disney hotel, and I thnk has the magic. It has Heavenly Beds.

You'll just fall in love with those Heavenly Beds! The best hotel bed you will ever experience for the money!

We purposely stay at Westin Hotels when we travel for that very reason.

I've never stayed at the Swan, but there are many good things said about it. The pool is open 24 hours... just in case you're in the mood for a late night swim.

Being able to boat or walk to the Boardwalk, Epcot and MGM is also a major benefit.

definitely the Swan...

I have never stayed at a moderate, but we have stayed at the swan numerous times...the location alone is worth it...you are close to MGM and epcot...the boardwalk is right there...and you're within walking distance of about 20 excellent restaurants...

as was said earlier, it's also a deluxe resort...regular rates are about $350 a night I believe...

I didn't see this thread when I started my own but it is about bascially the same question.

We are also trying to decide to go with the Swan or a moderate (CBR).

The only thing about the Swan that I am concerned with is that I have a 10 year old that I want to experience the whole "Disney" experience and I am concerned that he would miss out not being at a "Disney" operated hotel. I was told that Sheraton rents the property and it is not a "Disney" hotel.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Another vote for Swan! The main reason is LOCATION! I don't know how you could feel any more of the Disney Magic unless you were sleeping in Cindy's Castle. You often can see the Epcot ball and/or Tower of Terror from your room.

The only suggestion I would make is possibly staying at the Dolphin instead of the Swan. The Dolphin has a cooler lobby with that "Wow!" factor. That being said, we're staying at the Swan next month because the Dolphin wasn't available our entire trip.

I'd vote for the Swan as well. We stayed there last year and my kids (4 & 6 at the time) kept calling it their hotel. The pool is great although a little bit of a walk from the east (I think) wing of the Swan. The room size is much better than a moderate plus there's a good chance you could have a balcony like we did. And don't let me forget the heavenly beds! Even my husband said he wouldn't mind going to Disney again as long as we can stay at the Swan so next year you know where to find us. HTH

We stayed at the Dolphin two years ago, and, while the room was kinda ugly (I hear they have been remodeled since then though), we LOVED the location. Definitely stay at either the Swan or Dolphin rather than a moderate.

We stayed at the Swan last year and loved it so much that we are staying at the Dolphin next month for 8 nights. Three things, price, location and those heavenly beds. Can't beat it. LOL. ::MickeyMo

Swan!
Heavenlly beds, location, transportation options, deluxe hotel....

We have never stayed at a moderate due to our family size of 5, but have stayed at the swan twice with our 3 ds. We get a good govt. disc. so its definetely worth it to us. The only minuses are no mickey wake up call or soap and no charging to the room key in the parks etc. We love the swan. You are the 1st bus stop and that is worth it hands down. The pool is great. Our ds do say the slide is a little lame and slow compared to the poly. But they have beach volleyball, water volleyball etc. Our last room had a side view of tower of terror. There is also on site camp dolphin if you need some parent alone time. They have game rooms, pool bar etc. Its a great value and worth every penny. I dont do the refillable mugs since it is a hike. I usually make gatorade and koolaid in the room. This time our tiffany tc stopped at the hess mini mart for soda for us. There are more dining choices at the dolphin. The boat transportation is fantastic too. Its a great hotel.

If you don't mind sharing, what was the rate you were offered for the Swan and how did hubby get it? We want to stay there in September also but want a lower rate....\TIA

If you were able to get the Swan for $200 or less a night inc. taxes and fees then I would say go with the Swan hands down. You cannot compare the Swan or the Dolphin for that matter to a moderate. Both win hands down.
